I must warn you beforehand that I may sound totally ignorant. (At least very uninformed.) Thank you for reading this because I really. seem. to. be. lost. I'm a VERY new fan (~7 months?). I've been looking around to find concerts, gigs, lives, etc. So far all I have watched was Wembley and WWRY (today!), and although I went nuts squealing, I didn't think those two concerts were as great as they could have been. Of course, it's a fact that Queen never seems to release anything official... (as far as I know). I was going to order Rare Lives or Queen Rocks, but after reading a horrible review on the two, gave up. I've searched through sites (not that extensive, probably) and stumbled upon quite a few bootleg sites. However, they were of course not for sale (!). In every site I've been to so far, "ONLY TRADING" marks were all over the place. And being a new fan, I can't expect to be able to trade. :-| (nothing to trade with!) Also, I've read through queenzone and seen messages concerning hub... what is it basically? How can I install the program, and what must I do, as a fan having hardly anything, to participate? So, my questions are: 1) How does a bootleg trading work? What if the person has nothing to trade with? How does the bootleg "tree" work? 2) What's hub and how does that work? 3) Any other advice concerning getting more concerts and lives? (especially 70's) Lol, I sound extremely naive... but it's a burning question that I can't seem to solve. Thanks in advance to whoever can answer kindly. |

Depends what you want to get, quality-wise. If you are looking for mp3s of boots, then you can find them in several different file-sharing programs. After you get 2Gb worth of Queen stuff, you can ask to join the Hub and have access to more stuff. The Bootleg Tree was an opportunity for us to share some rare Queen songs and boots in mp3 with people who didn't have much. It sounds like it would have helped you, but for now, we're too busy to keep it going. If you are interested in real bootlegs (normal CDs), that's a bit harder to get into. As a new fan, it might be easier if you bought a couple boots (which can be expensive, I know) and then try to trade them with other new fans. If you found 5 new fans, and each one of you bought 1 CD and then traded with the others, you could get a fairly decent collection in a few days. |

Hey Kuku, I can help you out with the 2GB worth of Queen MP3's and videos if you have a little cash ;) I've got tons of rare Queen and Queen-related MP3's so I am willing to help |

Hey KuKu, I see that you are from Canada. Me to, I'm in Toronto. Where abouts are you in Canada? I got some boots I might be able to get to you. mike GO LEAFS GO!!! |

"yeah throw in the Pokemon Queen remixes too ;)" Hahaha, I feel so gullible. (But no thank you to the offer.) I could, through file sharing programs, some (very little, and everyone probably has it) mp3s and such... like Silver Salmon, Polar Bear (my favourite song!) Ibex songs, a little of concerts... but on the whole... 2GB? (That's the hard drive size of my laptop.) Thank you all for giving me information... thanks Mike! I live in Vancouver by the way. (Go Canucks Go!) Inu-Yasha --> I would very much like to know what you have to sell... I don't think I can afford thousands of dollars but if it's a concert video clip of some sort... (or a good concert recording.) that'd be really nice. For now (within my very limited knowledge) my foremost aim is to get Rainbow 74'. (Is there a video clip to this awesome concert? No?) Well, it'd be a long way to collect everything official first of all... although I'm EXTREMELY hesitant to buy those re-compilation, re-mastered, re- etc. recordings as well as heavily edited concert clips... Technically I should be content with those wonderful official albums. |

Hey Togg! That's pretty offensive...Gollum wouldn't ever be interested in money..heh ;) I'm curious. When I went to the Queen hub homepage it states 'no official releases'..does that mean all the Queen songs which are on their vinyls/cds/other media are useless? |
Pim Derks 15.03.2004 07:06 |
"does that mean all the Queen songs which are on their vinyls/cds/other media are useless?" Only the ones which have been released on cd, I think. Haven't been in the hub much lately.... |
iGSM 15.03.2004 08:07 |
Well, if so crap. If not, w00t. But I'm guessing it's the former. |
Maz 15.03.2004 12:09 |
iGSM The stuff from the Bootleg Tree will work for the Hub. You should have enough material from that alone to get in. What is not allowed is someone ripping their Innuendo CD or trying to share GVH1 for their 2GB limit. |

*punches self in face* DER! Of course! I forgot about them! ARGH! And what I've also done is split some of the audio from one of the concerts..is that acceptable or considered the same thing? Edit: Doh. I only have 1.67 gig..crap. Oh well, we'll see about that soon! |
Maz 16.03.2004 11:45 |
It should work. And it should not be a problem to find a little more on any file-sharing program to meet the 2GB requirement. |

There have been several people expressing interest in a bootleg tree the past few days. Perhaps one of Zeni's two bootleg trees or my bootleg tree (or all three trees) could be restarted by one or more previous paricipants .... ???? It should be easier to run than when I ran it (when I found out I had a faulty CD-RW drive), and the tree should be smaller than when I ran it. Also, one of Zeni's trees had the Rainbow video by the way ... |

For anyone who is new to Queen boots (or boots in general) : I am willing to send a few shows and rare demos, etc. to you for free. Please contact me and let me know if there's anything you especially need and I'll try to help/ This offer is for NEW traders ONLY (because I remember how hard it is to "break in" to bootleg trading). Please send all emails to wyldstallynsrock@cox.net (not the addy in my profile :) |

Hey Kuku. I LOVE that song "April Lady" it's awesome. Brians vocals are great. I wish the artists-formerly-known-as-Smile would re release that album again so I could by the full version. |

Hi Kuku, I was in the same position as you not long ago. Then the BBC showed the BoRhap/Freddies Millions documentaries. I copied them onto dvd and was able to do some trades off the back of it which got me going. E-mail me your address and I'll send you a copy if you don't already have it. c.gorrie@btinternet.com |

I'm really confused and ashamed that I don't know all this stuff :-P :-SI'm busy dowloading giggs (movie files like mpeg, avi) like Rainbow '74, Madrid '79 and Sao Paulo '81. I dowload with Emule and WinMX. You can get those programms free on the internet. You can also find your mp3's with these programs. |
