"I wouldn't sign it if you gave me a million £, gay marriage is wrong, carry on the good work Mr Bush, 4 more years coming your way." Oh really?? It's wrong? Good to know.. And who the fuck do you think you are to judge???? Why would it be wrong? Because this world is full of bloody homophobs? I really can't see why would it be wrong? Would you please explain it to me? It's very easy to judge and decide what's right and wrong for other people (i suppose you're straight). I'm sure you would've had different oppinion if you were gay yourself.. |

.. And who the fuck do you think you are to judge???? ' Who are you to say it's right? 'Why would it be wrong?' ' Because the laws were set up to allow a man and a woman to marry for the reason of procreation. I don't think homosexuals have that ability. 'Because this world is full of bloody homophobs?' Who on this board would be a homophobe? It's a Queen board for pittys sake. 'I really can't see why would it be wrong?' It's wrong because the Constitution says it is. 'It's very easy to judge and decide what's right and wrong for other people (i suppose you're straight).' Who is judging? It's the law. 'I'm sure you would've had different oppinion if you were gay yourself..' Not true in all accounts. I have several gay friends, and they think that a civil union that carries the same rights as as a marrige would would be just fine. That is really all they want. To be taken care of in the case of death or separation from their partner. |
Hank H. 11.03.2004 10:06 |
Lucy, thank god that laws can be changed when they are not appropriate. If laws had never been changed we would still live in the Middle Ages. Why do you want two different kinds of marriages / civil unions when both carry the same rights anyway? If the rights are the same, it IS the same, no matter under what term. Are infertile people allowed to marry? Why? They will never have children, will they? |
deleted user 11.03.2004 10:26 |
'Are infertile people allowed to marry? Why? They will never have children, will they? ' Then are you in favor of testing pe-wed couples for fertility? Great idea. I don't condone it, nor am I against it. But it is the law. Just like capitol punishment. I hate it, but for some states, it is the law. |
Mr.Jingles 11.03.2004 10:53 |
<< I wouldn't sign it if you gave me a million £, gay marriage is wrong, carry on the good work Mr Bush, 4 more years coming your way. >> Well that comes from someone who once posted that all Argentine soccer players are cheaters and drug addicts. Sure there's been players like Maradona and Caniggia but the great majority of Argentine soccer players are not like that. My guess is that Harvey is a bigot. What are you doing on a message board of a band that had a gay lead singer anyways? |
~Silje~ 11.03.2004 11:26 |
'.. And who the fuck do you think you are to judge???? ' -Who are you to say it's right? ***No one can know for sure what is right or wrong, because opinions differ on the subject. We just have to judge what we consider right and what we consider wrong from how we think and from how we see the world we live in. How can you say that straight marriage is so more right? Fact is, as long as someone disagrees with you, you can't claim it to be right 100% for sure, but you're entitled to your own opinion anyway. As long as straight marriage is OK, I don't see why gay marriage shouldn't be OK. Marriage is marriage, what does it matter if there's different sexualities - people feel the same way! 'Why would it be wrong?' ' -Because the laws were set up to allow a man and a woman to marry for the reason of procreation. I don't think homosexuals have that ability. *** Look, humans could very well procreate without being married. It's as easy as getting into bed, having a good time, and then probably she'll be pregnant already. Bringing kids to the world is something you can do without getting married for it! I'd say that marriage is for two people who love each other to create an official promise that they will live together and be true to each other. It's just a way of claiming love forever and getting it down on the paper for everyone to see, and it's smart because there'll be certain rights coming with the marriage and that'll cause less conflicts. Now,Gay people love to, gay people can be Christians too, gay people should be able to get kids (through adoption) too, and the same freaking rights should count for them! 'Because this world is full of bloody homophobs?' -Who on this board would be a homophobe? It's a Queen board for pittys sake. *** And a Queen fan can't be a homophobe? Besides, she said "because this WORLD is full of homophobes" not "this board". 'I really can't see why would it be wrong?' -It's wrong because the Constitution says it is. *** Yeah, and the Constitution is always right, is it? Times are changing, laws are changins, outlooks on the world are changing. That's how it is and how it has always been - I for one won't keep it from continuing. If slavery was protected by the Constitution, would you keep slaves, now, in 2004? Why shouldn't gays have rights? 'It's very easy to judge and decide what's right and wrong for other people (i suppose you're straight).' Who is judging? It's the law. ***If the law is judging something which major parts of the country realises is plain WRONG, is it not time to change that damned law? If some crazy dictator made a law that said no one had religious freedom or freedom of speach and no one no longer had rights in marriage, would you agree? No, you'd want the dictator removed and the law changed! Laws are there for the best of the people. Obviously, today's law concerning gay marriage is NOT for the best, is it? 'I'm sure you would've had different oppinion if you were gay yourself..' -Not true in all accounts. I have several gay friends, and they think that a civil union that carries the same rights as as a marrige would would be just fine. That is really all they want. To be taken care of in the case of death or separation from their partner. *** Then let them have a civil union at least, with the same rights. Still, that is to discriminate towards those gays who are Christians and who'd wish to have a Christian marriage. You can come here with sayings from the Bible if you wish, but I think that even Christians should be in for a little change by now. |
Maz 11.03.2004 11:48 |
There is nothing in the Constitution that says gay marriage is illegal, that's why they want to amend it. Our Constitution (with a few changes over the years, such as the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments) is a great document. It's not to blame here. And nice to see Harvey's making friends here. |

Little_Queenie 11.03.2004 16:12 |
Lucy ok, first of all, I do not judge is it wright or wrong. I do not claim anything, I simply want to say that all people are the same and should have the same rights. No matter of their religion, race or sexual orientation. You say you have gay friends who also think gay marriages aren't right? Ok, fine, it is their choice. But why shouldn't gay people who do want to get married be able to do it? At least civil marriage. You know, there is this thing called TOLERANCE. The way we treat other people is the best indicator of what kind of persons we are. I also didn't say this notice board is full of homophobes, but the world in general. And unfortuntely it is true. The fact I am Queen fan doesn't have absolutely anything to do with my views about gays and gay marriages. My folks have always taught me that all human beings are the same, long before I met Queen and Freddie, and that I should respect everyones choice. So if two man want to get married, I don't see why not. So you see, I don't judge anything, I only want all people to have their right of choice and I fight for it. I can only imagine what kind of shit those people must suffer all their lives because people (not all of course) are intolerant, racists etc. I hate that. So what if there is a law?? Aren't people those who create law? And laws can change. And if I can help in any, even the smaller way, so that all people could have the same rights, I will sure as hell fight for it. I know if I were gay, I would like other people to support me, and not to judge me. |

Hank H. 11.03.2004 18:05 |
Lucy: "Then are you in favor of testing pe-wed couples for fertility? Great idea." First, my point was: Marriage was not invented to increase the number of pregnant women, otherwise infertile people would not be allowed to marry. Second, you don't have to test a 70 year old woman, you can be sure she's infertile. Still no-one ever thought about forbidding such people to marry. Point: Marriage does not depend on the couple's ability to make children. Not that difficult if only you ever wanted to understand me (or anyone). Third, you didn't answer my other questions. That's a bit disappointing, but then again I didn't expect useful answers. |

As I said before, I am not for it nor against it. I just know what the law says. Just like me. I am known to smoke grass from time to time. I don't think there is anything wrong with it. However there are laws agaist possesing it, and using it. So why should some get special treatment because they are gay, and get married and break the law. If I got caught smoking, I'd go to jail no questions asked. If you shoot or rob some one the same thing. But even the Mayor of San Fransisco is above the law. That is a bunch of crap. NO ONE deserves special treatment. Whites, blacks, gay or straight. I htink thats why I'm against this until something is done with it. If you want to leave it to the States to decide for themselves, then let them. I'd be all for it. But don't flaunt your gayness 'above the law' attitude. 'And if I can help in any, even the smaller way, so that all people could have the same rights, I will sure as hell fight for it. I know if I were gay, I would like other people to support me, and not to judge me.' Very well put honey. Then let the governing factions decide in legal way. Not a way that blatently breaks the law. Just because people are gay does that make them diferent from me? Or you? There should be no special treatment for anyone. We all want equal rights. But defying laws is not the way to get them. |
Little_Queenie 11.03.2004 18:57 |
" If you shoot or rob some one the same thing." No, actually it is NOT the same thing at all. By shooting or robbing someone you directly hurt that person, harm or whatever the word is. If two gay people want to marry they don't do anything wrong to anyone. And why do you babble all the time about fucking laws?? As I said, and other pople here, laws are made by humans, and humans make mistakes. Laws change all the time, if not, we would still be in caves. Someone mentioned slavery - it's a good example. Laws once allowed someone to possess another person. So you see that laws often suck. It was sick, and it didn't change untill people who were against it reacted. No hard feelings, but I think you are really narrow minded if you stick to the laws so much. Like you don't have your own brain to see that there are many mistakes in it. Or you are simply passive and don't care for people. Like: "oh, sorry, but that's the law, i can't do anything about it and i don't give a damn..." |
Little_Queenie 11.03.2004 19:06 |
"That is a bunch of crap. NO ONE deserves special treatment. Whites, blacks, gay or straight. I htink thats why I'm against this until something is done with it." Wow, wait a second... You say NO ONE deserves a special treatment. ???? Let's see.. Straight people - have every right to get married and gay people - DON'T. So by the sense of clear logic I'd say straights are special treated. So how come you are against gay marriages?? It is totaly opposed to your upper statement. |
deleted user 11.03.2004 19:11 |

Or you are simply passive and don't care for people. Like: "oh, sorry, but that's the law, i can't do anything about it and i don't give a damn..." It is indeed the same thing. A law is a law. You break it, you pay for it. As I said. If I break the law, I pay. Gays break the law even THE MAYOR breaks the law....nothing is happening. Why? don't ask me. You have to abide by laws. If you don't, you have chaos. And that leads to other trouble. I am far from closed minded. I know what I like and don't like. You keep missing things I write. I don't know if you don't or can't understand them, but I'm not going to hold your hand through the entire thing. You'll discover for yourself someday. Maturity and understanding comes from age. Something this board is lacking. This isn't a funny topic. Just because you think that gays should be allowed to marry (which I think they have a right to the same thing under a different heading) doesn't mean you can break the laws of the country or the state. I can't understand why you are having so much trouble understanding that. I HATE capitol punishment. Luckily my state doesn't have it yet. If the vote comes to allowing it, then I guess I have to deal with it. There is nothing you can do about it. Would it be ok to kill someone sand say "I don't want the death penalty because I don't like it". That would get you laughed at, and then excecuted. You take a stereo from a store. Your not hurting anyone, your just stealing. Ooops its ok, I don't care that there is a law prohibiting stealing. Guess what? YOU GO TO JAIL. Wake up and think about things. And when it comes to the law, there is NOTHING you or I can do about it. |
Little_Queenie 11.03.2004 19:13 |
"We all want equal rights. But defying laws is not the way to get them. " I totally agree with you on this one. We don't have to defy the law, but we can sure as hell try to change it if we think it is not fair or human. The worst thing is just to sit and act like it is not our problem. |
deleted user 11.03.2004 19:19 |
And I agree with you. Until a law is passed, I have to stand my ground on this one. If it is passed that its ok, then I am happy for every body. I love gay people, and have nothing at all against them. And I hate arguing, so lets call this one good, I respect you and your opinions on this, and happy that you have a stand for what you believe in. :) |
Hank H. 11.03.2004 19:26 |
lol, you just wrote the contradictions (plural!) of the year. The best: "As I said before, I am not for it nor against it." - "I htink thats why I'm against this until something is done with it." That's already two contradicitions in one. You are against changing the law until it is changed... lol. Oxymoron, wow great rhetoric. :) Just swallow your proudness and admit it, instead of changing the topic and babbling about maturity. Your pigheadedness is the only problem, so you're right, there's no use in arguing any longer. |
Little_Queenie 11.03.2004 19:26 |
Look, I know what are you trying to say, but I'm speaking from MORAL view. I think you're the one missing my point all the time. Or just don't want to get it. If you steal a stereo, yes, you do harm someone. You harm the owner of that stereo, at least financially. Really not a good example. I really am well aware of what you're saying, and I don't agree that you or me can't do anything to change the law. For Christ's sake, laws are not unchangeouble!! The right question is DO WE WANT TO change them or not? And somehow I get the feeling you don't... |
Little_Queenie 11.03.2004 19:35 |
"And I hate arguing, so lets call this one good, I respect you and your opinions on this, and happy that you have a stand for what you believe in. :)" I hate arguing too, but when it comes to questions like this I could just... Nevermind. I respect other people's opinion, and yours of course. That doesn't mean I agree with it, but hey, you have every right on your opinion, and that's what I fight for. So, a good idea, to call it good:)) I've anyway said everything I wanted to say, peace!! |
Maz 11.03.2004 19:37 |
I would like to point out that until the 1940s, interracial marriage was illegal in 44 states, and it wasn't until the late-1960s that the Supreme Court struck down those laws in every remaining state (mostly in the South). To hide behind the legal aspect ignores the moral aspect of the question. |
deleted user 11.03.2004 19:52 |
I'm not saying it's not a stupid law guys, but I am saying that I have to agree with it UNTIL it is changed. "I htink thats why I'm against this until something is done with it." That's already two contradicitions in one.' No I'm not brainiac. There is a moral and legal issue. Moraly I abide by what the law says. If it is changed then I have no issue with it. It's law, and I will think it's good. Do you want me to hold your hand while we go through this one more time? 'You are against changing the law until it is changed...' I am against it happening because the law says it's wrong, or not allowed. However you want to say it. When it is ok'd by the government dear hanky, I will say it's cool with me. Zeni. Good point. I hadn't thought of it that way. If it is deemed discrimination, then it should be allowed. No doubt. But people can't just go around doing things because they think it's ok. No matter how little they seem. :) |

~Silje~ 12.03.2004 12:30 |
Uhm, I'm just a little bit confused. This is about wanting to change the Constitution so that gay marriage will be disallowed, right? This has not yet happened. Therefore, we sign a petition, because we protest, and we don't want it to happen. I don't see where we break the law. Or, if I have gotten this wrong, we are signing a petition in order to change a law. Laws are changable, as I said they're there for the best of the people. If a majority finds it not to be the best of the people and morally to be pure unjustice, the law can change. Signing a petition in order to get this through, is not illegal. Defending a case I fight for, is not illegal. Where do your statement come from, then? You say I should shut my mouth about my opinions on gay marriage, because gay marriage is illegal, and everyone should shut their mouths until the law is changed? Well, I don't think laws change by themselves, so someone has to speak up - right? If I said people should get married while it is still illegal, then I understand your point, but that I never said. I simply said I consider the law to be wrong and that it should be changed, and according to free speach I'm not doing anything illegal at all. Btw, good posts Queenleaf. I agree with you :-D *would like to hold Zeni's hand while we go through this one more time* |
