I lent 'Queen The Eye' PC game to a friend of mine a few years ago and have just discovered he has sold it on E-Bay for £26 !!!
He's been a 'mate' of mine for well over 20 years.
'Bestest mates' when we were kids.
I don't see him that often but when we speak on the phone I always ask him to bring the game back if ever comes and visits.
I did tell hime that it was a collector's item now and was afraid he'd lose it or his kids would damage it.
He has visited a few times but has always 'forgotten' it.
Now he's saying that 'I gave it to him' !!
I'm a bit old to fall out over a game but i'm REALLY annoyed about this!
It's also out of character for him to pull a fast one on me, but recently he has had the 'ebay bug' and been selling all sorts of junk.
So do I blame him, ebay or what?!
What can he do to make ammends?
Should I just let it go and take it as a genuine mis-understanding on his part or get him to re-imburse me somehow?
FUMING!!
You don't want to lose a friend you have had for so long, so he must have known that it was an important item to you! So I would ask him to replace it or offer some compensation to show how sorry he is. If he refuses then I couldn't trust him again!
This is a tricky situation!!!
Well, you can't really blame Ebay :-P
People make some bad choices sometimes. You can definitely continue a friendship.. I've had an internet friend who owes me $10 going on 5 years now and he's just the type who can never get things mailed and I've learned to accept that. I bring it up occasionally and we joke about it. I just don't make 'deals' with him anymore since I know he won't follow through with his end, but we're able to be friends anyway.
This reminds me that I'd like to try and get a copy of 'The eYe' myself. :-)
Um, I don't think a true friend would sell stuff you've lent him on eBay. That sounds more like a spiteful girlfriend or something. If I were you, I'd tell him to sell the friendship on eBay because you have no need for it anymore.
