These are the days of our lives ( believe it's mainly from Rog) |
Sebastian 05.03.2004 12:11 |
Days Of Our Lives and Ride The Wild Wind Before anyone lists it: Roger didn't write Innuendo, musically. He just wrote (most of) the lyrics, which were started off by Fred. 'Under Pressure' isn't a song by Roger either. As John confirmed twice, it's mainly Freddie & Bowie. Roger did take a strong role in the production and the edition though, but not in the songwriting itself |

Sebastion - the TS was probably talking about tunes Roger sang. And don't say "He has some lines on RTWW" or something like that :-) |
Banquo 05.03.2004 12:45 |
Drowse, which I think Roger plays all guitar on (including bass) and electric cello which provides the slide effect also Roger had to half-learn the Bassoon for the "Out here on the streets" bit. Freddie wrote the last verse uncredited. |
Sebastian 05.03.2004 13:52 |
> Sebastion - the TS was probably talking about tunes Roger sang. And don't say "He has some lines on RTWW" or something like that :-) If that's the case then I vote for 'Modern Times Rock N' Roll' |

"Before anyone lists it: Roger didn't write Innuendo, musically. He just wrote (most of) the lyrics, which were started off by Fred." So it's Freddie's song mostly? |
Sebastian 06.03.2004 06:16 |
> So it's Freddie's song mostly? As a matter of fact it is. Musically. Lyrically Roger had more input |

link In the poll of 30 Queenzoners who rated all official Queen songs (at the end of 2001), Tenement Funster ranked highest of Roger vocals at #30, but These Are The Days of Our Lives Ranked #6. One Vision (very strong Roger influence) was at #11 and Breaktrhu was at #23. Should plug my humble website again by mentioning my link to my web page is at the bottom of the page in my signature? |

Nobody mentioned Radio Ga Ga... It should be a Roger's idea (then Freedie made the rest..) |
Penis - Vagina 09.03.2004 12:20 |
Yeah I'd say Radio Ga Ga definitely, maybe followed by the original Highlander version of 'A Kind of Magic'. David Richards claims that 'Innuendo' actually started as a jam without Freddie, and that he loved what he was hearing so he joined in. Based on that, I'd say it's truly a collaborative effort. link ""Innuendo" on the other hand arose from an improvisation in the Casino-Hall at Montreux. Freddie, who was sitting on the upper floor of the studio and could listen on, sighed and said: "Oh, I love it", rushed down and began to sing. Naturally a lot of detailed work was invested afterwards, but the original idea sprang from a spontaneous group improvisation." |
Sebastian 09.03.2004 12:25 |
It started without Fred, but from then on Freddie took it and evolved it. Like Radio Ga Ga started without Roger, it started with his son's quote, then Roger took the title and developed the song. Other examples of that case: Show Must Go On, Pain Is So Close To Pleasure |
Penis - Vagina 09.03.2004 12:37 |
"Radio Ga Ga started without Roger, it started with his son's quote" That's stretching it a bit isn't it? :) Although Roger does have a history of songs originating from other titles/lines. Case in point: Under Pressure has the line 'Pressure on people on streets'. Somehow this ended up years later as solo song titles 'Pressure On' and 'People On Streets'. LOL. Coincidence? :-P |
