i heard it is very difficult to clear a Queen sample, but i know Rocafella managed to do so with the Kanye West produced track sampling "we are the champions"... it was hot too!! anyways... i was wondering if any one knows why it is so hard to clear queen samples, i am actually trying to get a sample of "a song made in heaven" cleared.... its such an amazing song, the sounds are incredible.. but i doubt they will ever clear it.. any info? advice?
thanks :)
hahahaha... yeah... Rocafella is a rap lable headed by Jay-z... Kanye West is a producer on the lable who just released an album... any other words u diddnt catch? :)
"I assume these Kayne West and Rocafella people are musicians with some reputation?"
So they say. Though, I think the term 'musician' has lost ALL meaning in the past decade. I don't care if people like rap, But don't try and tell me that it's good. You'd be wasting your time... and more importantly, mine.
There is a lot of really bad rap out there, but there is also some really great rap out there.... just like all genre of music... check out Outkast if u interested.. if not.. thats fine.. but can someone answer my question? lol
Someone a year or two ago (I know not who since I rarely dabble in that particular music genre) used an unauthorized sample of WWRY, but after pressure, donated some chunk of change to the Mercury Phoenix Trust as penance.
As to why it is difficult to clear Queen samples, I don't know. But it really can't be any worse than a Viagra commercial, now can it?
I don't know. I wrote them for a permission letter to have my Live At The Rainbow transferred from PAL to NTSC and they didn't even write back to say no, so I don't have much faith in them even bothering to listen to requests.
I believe I wrote the galileo@queenonline addy which was the best way I could come up with at the time. I suppose a written letter might have been better.
You don't need permission to have your tape converted to NTSC, it's obviously for private use and you have every right to do with your property whatever you want as long as you don't copy it for commercial use.
That's the way it should be, and I thought so too, but the video place I called said they'd need a letter granting permission.
I doesn't matter now.. someone was kind enough to put it on DVD-R for me much cheaper than the conversion would have cost anyway :)
jeez how did this topic become about rap lol i guess no1 knows abotu queen clearin samples.... isnt that song Made in heavin amazing tho? the intro.. those big hits and the guitars... WOW

Three questions :
1. what is pal?
2. what is NTSC?
3. You've got live at the Rainbow? Can I get it somewhere? Can you transfer it to me? It's my dream to watch this video!!!please please!!!!

4. - probably
5. - i'll email you it - it should only take about three weeks (or 18 months if you're on dialup) - don't ask "what is dialup"

7. - ...tell me now!!! is there something i should know....([c] Duran duran)
As a wise man once said, just because YOU don't like it, doesn't mean its crap. Doesn't mean it isn't either. Different strokes.
A somewhat less wise man also said, if its too loud, you're too old. That one's probably true.
