This is not necessarily a topic about your favorite movies, just the ones that have made you cry. BRAVEHEART This movie is one of my favorites. Movies of real life stories about heroes being persecuted, tortured and finally turned into martyrs are indeed very sad. AFTER THE PROMISE Most people might not know this movie because it was a made for TV flick from 1987. It's about this carpenter whose wife died during the depression. His kids are taken away after he was unfairly accused of battery by the kids' nanny. The kids are physically abused at the orphange and he struggles to bring them all back. I can guarantee you that if you're a parent you're going to cry watching this movie. Every single person I know who has watched it has cried. FRANKENSTEIN (Anime version)1984 I remember watching this movie as a kid and crying with my sister almost endlessly. I never read the Mary Shelly book or saw any movies based on the original book, but I remember on this one Frankenstein tries to be accepted by people while they fear him and hate him for being seen as a monster and a threat. TITANIC I'm one of the few guys who admit that cried watching this movie. Funny thing is that a lot of those guys who cried then, now say that it's one of the worse movies ever. Sure the dialogue was corny at times, but movies are all about bringing emotions. THE LION KING I was 15 when I saw this movie and I didn't want to embarass myself crying along with all those kids in the theater. Very tearjerking the scene when Simba tried to wake up his father after finding him dead. Also when I was a kid I used to cry a lot of TV shows or movies where animals died. I think a lot of kids do. ------------------------------------------------- If too many movies have made you cry, list the ones have made you cry the most. |
Lester Burnham 22.02.2004 22:06 |
I tend to cry more at the prices of movies these days than actual movies themselves, but I almost *ALMOST!* cried when I saw "Big Fish". |
Ms.Lurex 22.02.2004 22:07 |
La Bamba always makes me cry...and the movie about the Temptations made me cry that aired on VH1 |
Mr.Jingles 22.02.2004 22:08 |
I know how you feel Lester. After watching 'The English Patient', I wanted my money and my 3 precious hours back. I totally agree with Elaine from Seinfeld. I remember feeling like crying watching 'La Bamba' too. |
Robin 22.02.2004 22:12 |
Some old ones make me cry...... The Champ Beaches Brians Song |
Virtuoso 22.02.2004 22:15 |

Eyes Of An Angel~ John Travolta is in this film. But it was about his daughter forming a bond between a dog used for fights that had been abandoned and thrown in a river left to die. I was about 8 at the time and I just bawled my eyes out to think of the dog's situation Life Is Beautiful ~ When Robert Benigini was taken by the Nazi to be shot, my heart broke. |

I cry easily with movies. Not only sad stuff, but very happy stuff. Muriel's Wedding - When Muriel tries on a bridal gown for the first time and the orchestral version of Dancing Queen comes on, it kills me. Stand By Me - The issues of losing an older brother whom your father was more fond of hits close to home. The Color Purple - When Celie allows herself to let go and laugh for the first time ever in her life. It's one of the most beautiful examples of the human spirit ever captured on film. A.I. - The very end of the film when David has had his day of being loved by his mother. I'll never understand people who didn't like this film. The Sixth Sense - Ironically these are the same actors from Muriel's Wedding and A.I. - Toni Collette and Haley Joel Osment. The scene in the car near the end when Cole tells his mom that grandma is proud of her. And one of my all-time favorite movies, Terms of Endearment. Both happy and sad scenes. The movie is actually more of a comedy than drama, which people tend to forget. Any number of scenes from Roots, which I rewatch a couple times a year. And many more. :'-) Edit: Also any scene where an animal dies, or has been lost and comes back, or gets set free. hehe |

Milo and Otis. Saving Private Ryan. That's all I can think of at the moment. Keep in mind that I don't watch many movies.. Actually I've 'cried' tears of laughter in heaps of movies but they don't count. |
Daburcor? 23.02.2004 02:51 |
"Actually I've 'cried' tears of laughter in heaps of movies but they don't count." If that's the case, I could think of TONS! |
look what they've done to claudi.... 23.02.2004 04:51 |
"finding nemo" was the last one that had me crying... and apart from that it's nearly every disney movie... cinderella, lion king, all that stuff... *sniff* |
Little_Queenie 23.02.2004 04:54 |
I cried like lunatic when I watched Lion King and one of my fave movies of all time - Green Mile... I adore that movie. Also Free Willy and many movies about animals, and of course, nothing of this can compare with amount of tears that come when watching queen documentaries... Especially parts about Freddie. God, this looks like I cry all the time, lol:)) |
*the Time Guardian* 23.02.2004 05:57 |
IMMORTAL BELOVED Movie of Beethoven's life. Talks about women who he loved, but there was only one true love. Gary oldman played Beethoven. Very touching TITANIC All those bodies in the water. And the music that played. Just made me cry. When I watched it first, I didn't cry. When I watched it few years later, I cried. Strange MAN IN THE IRON MASK The way D'Artagnan died made me cry. DEEP IMPACT When this huge wawe came and drowned many cities... it was horrible. People who loved each other huged for last time. Father and daugther just stood on the beach and waited for drowning... Very sad |
Mayboy 23.02.2004 06:54 |
A few have, the ones i can remember umm E.T Titanic The Lion King Superman the first movie Big |
iGSM 23.02.2004 07:14 |

Fenderek 23.02.2004 08:53 |
TITANIC I cried at the end because I realised that nothing is going to give me back three hours of my life i wasted on that... crap.... SAVING PRIVATE RYAN Same, although as far as I remember it wasn't three hours- thank god... What a ridiculous concept anyway- sacrifice few ppl to bring back one... Not sure if they were brave- stupiddity is a better word... BRAVEHEART Good one, although Mel's accent was pretty bad... But yeah, truly cried on this one... HIGHLANDER "Who Wants To Live Forecer" bit makes me cry every time... |
Guy 23.02.2004 09:13 |
Titanic The Lion King (when I was little, ofcourse :) The Life Of David Gale (well, not really cry, but a very depressing movie) |
Under Pressure 23.02.2004 09:15 |
Deep Impact made me cry for another reason ... hmm ... Probably only Blade Runner. Maybe Empire of the Sun. |

I am the Queen of crying when watching sad movies. |
Taylor-Mayed 23.02.2004 11:26 |
Films that particularly stick in the mind as upsetting me when I was a child are "E-T" (you know, the bit where he falls in the river, and then 'dies') and, oddly, "Short Circuit 2" (when he gets attacked by men with axes... I can remember being very upset, but my dad sagely assuring me that he couldn't be dead because "it's not that kind of film.") I can remember the last film that made me cry, but it's so embarrassing that if I told you I'd have to kill you. |
pma 23.02.2004 11:36 |
Some educational films I have seen during my life have made me want to cry out of boredom. That's about it. |
Farlander 23.02.2004 12:11 |
None. And as for this: "IMMORTAL BELOVED Movie of Beethoven's life. Talks about women who he loved, but there was only one true love. Gary oldman played Beethoven. Very touching." That movie was, like, pure fiction. |
Penis - Vagina 23.02.2004 14:37 |
"Same, although as far as I remember it wasn't three hours- thank god... What a ridiculous concept anyway- sacrifice few ppl to bring back one... Not sure if they were brave- stupiddity is a better word..." Didn't you understand that his poor mom had already lost 2 or 3 sons in the war? They were gonna make damn sure she didn't lose her last remaining son.. I don't see anything stupid about that. It's not a favorite of mine.. I only saw it once and didn't want to see it again.. not because it was bad or stupid, but because it was too intense. And there's only one D in stupidity. How ironic eh? ;) |

I'm usually a bit of an ice queen, but cried at a few films... -Titanic (because it's based around a tragic true story-not because of jack dying, as most of my friends did!) -The Green Mile -Billy Elliot -The Little Mermaid (I don't know why, but I always do) Apparently 'The Perfect Storm' is one of the saddest films ever, so I won't be seeing that anytime soon! mel xxx |

constance 24.02.2004 03:42 |
I usually cry when there a sad movie on, so if I were to make a list it takes a lot of time, yet some of the movies I can still remember makingn me cry are: E.T., K-Pax, Sweet November... It's good however that I also love comedies... |

Mr.Jingles 24.02.2004 11:09 |
<< Same, although as far as I remember it wasn't three hours- thank god... What a ridiculous concept anyway- sacrifice few ppl to bring back one... Not sure if they were brave- stupiddity is a better word >> Geez, Fenderek not only you can't spell 'stupidity', but you can't understand the meaning of the word 'sacrifice'. It seems also like you can't understand that the concept of this movie is not fictional, but a real life story. Besides, it takes a lot more courage to be in a battlefield and put your life at risk than to call these soldiers 'stupid' for saving someone's life. A comment like that is what I truly call... STUPID. |
Fenderek 24.02.2004 11:30 |
< F*** off- I'm not a native speaker. Cheap-shot... < I only said, that MAKING FEW MOTHERS GRIEVE INSTEAD OF ONE IS stupid... Anyway, I do believe that the whole WAR thing and fighting IS stupid... No matter if it's fictional or not... making something beautiful out of this- that's what i call stupid... And sorry mate, but no, I wouldn't be in a battelfield for ANY reason, there's nothing in this world worth dying for.... Blind obeying orders? Sorry, not for me... If someone strikes me or my love ones- I'll strike back... But joining the army and thinking that I'm dying fighting for the right thing- nah.... Lack of courage? Whatever, don't give a damn... Oh, and don't give me that cheap talk about puting life at risk etc.- I was mountain rescuer for 2 years, don't tell me about saving someone's life... Sending few ppl to certain death to save just one- that's ridiculous... |
Guy 24.02.2004 14:07 |
"there's nothing in this world worth dying for...." I can't imagine someone saying that... Don't you have things you love in the world? Your mother? Your father? Your lover? Your country (probably not, not many people are patriots these days)? Wouldn't you risk your life in order to save one of these? I'm not talking of situations where it's "1 dies" or "2 die". I'm talking of situations where one death can prevent other deaths. Think about it. |
deleted user 24.02.2004 14:12 |
Good point Guy. But it would depend on the reason for defending a country. It would have to be something pretty serious for me to do it. And lately, I don't see much worth while. And there are too many 'patriots' here in the US these days. They have become 'patriots' under false circumstances, and that has turned me off to the 'cry wolf' theory. |

Dumbo |
Mr.Jingles 24.02.2004 17:00 |
Oh God... how could I forget Dumbo. The part where Dumbo's mom is rocking him with her trunk is sure a tearjerket. So much that an army general is depicted crying while watching the scene on the Spielberg flick '1941'. Bambi is also sad. |
MexQueenFM 24.02.2004 17:02 |
the one movie that made me want to shred a tear, which i didn't do, was Radio, after the guys mom dies |
Mr.Jingles 24.02.2004 17:04 |

The Passion. |
Mr Mercury 27.02.2004 16:01 |
Only two spring to mind where I've nearly cried. One was "The Color Purple". Whoopie Goldberg's performance as Celie was typified at the moment where she discovered letters that her husband had kept from her from her sister that she thought she would never hear from again was brilliant. And the second was "The Untold Story" (I know its not strictly a movie) especially the bit where Diana Moseley was talking the night where she was about to go home after spending some time with Freddie playing Scrabble. And then she hit you with the line where Freddie said "Thank you for making an old man very happy". The only person in the whole film apart from band members and family, to show some real emotion. |
Pluto 27.02.2004 19:26 |
i cried a lot during the passion mostly during the whipping and all the other painful looking parts and during gattaca at the end when Eugene Morrow goes into the fire to kill himself and when vincent goes into space adn says that thing about going home |
