hi, Well, things got a bit confusing there... Anyway, i think things are working OK now. I will be rewriting the board over the next two weeks or so. I am thinking that the best way to get everything sorted out, and hopefully working the way that everyone wants is to delete all old posts and start again. I am not sure when this will happen, i just wanted to put the idea out there to see what you guys think. Richard |
Maz 21.02.2004 23:45 |
If it is in the best interest of keeping the board alive, then do it. Many will complain, and I admit that losing posts and great information is far from ideal, but if we need to do it in order to avoid any future crash, then go for it. |
Daburcor? 22.02.2004 00:00 |
I agree with Zeni! *quickly writes down post count* Delete away! :D |
Penis - Vagina 22.02.2004 00:03 |
I have no objection to a fresh start :) Thank you for keeping the forum alive Richard! |
MexQueenFM 22.02.2004 00:31 |
Agree with Zeni, if it can't be done otherwise, then delete away :) Thanks Richard |
Saint Jiub 22.02.2004 00:36 |
delete away ... most of it is disposable anyway |
Lester Burnham 22.02.2004 00:44 |
Agreed, except all my posts. Right? ...right? |
Saint Jiub 22.02.2004 00:50 |
Another echo? |
Saint Jiub 22.02.2004 00:53 |
As long Queenzone returns in full glory ... |
*the Time Guardian* 22.02.2004 03:54 |
I have nothing against deleting :) |
pma 22.02.2004 04:25 |
Delete all posts, users..anything. However perhaps some of the more useful posts could be gathered and stored by somebody with too much freetime (don't look at me, sorry). I know the board can show topics..what 300 - 500 days back ? Then again are there any that important or classic threads to be salvaged out there... |
The Man On The Prowl 22.02.2004 05:31 |
If it's necessary, ok, do it. Maybe you could save the data base and put it available for download somewhere. So the new data base will be light and the board will work fine (or that's what we hope), but the information won't go totally lost, and if someone is interested in the old posts he can always download the old data base. What do you think? |
Banquo 22.02.2004 06:18 |
A good spring-clean is good for you. I have no complaints about wiping the board and starting again from fresh, and I certainly couldn't give two hoots about my post-count. |
Little_Queenie 22.02.2004 06:38 |
I'm fine with it.. Clean it up:D |
Spiderleg Synthia 22.02.2004 07:06 |
I agree, but we had better save some of the classic fattys and so on. It would be a shame to lose those, though most of everything else is disposable. |
Mr. Scully 22.02.2004 07:21 |
I can archive old posts if necessary... the database can't be that big anyway, there are probably not more 50000 posts each year. |
Mayboy 22.02.2004 07:39 |
yeah delete away :D I think its about time QZ got a spring clean... |
SallyJ. 22.02.2004 08:03 |
I don't mind it either, Richard. Delete ahead :) we will have to be prepared to answer questions about "where is John??" etc. again.... or maybe you could save those? like a FAQ? |
Megamike The GREAT 22.02.2004 09:07 |
Of Course I have to say, delete Away.. seems to be the only way to save the day.. so what the hey..... yea... |
Richard Orchard 22.02.2004 09:27 |
Hi, Ok, at some point i will refresh the board. However, i will save all the posts so that people can download the Database if they want. I think it currently has about 80,000 records in it. I will also think of a way to archive posts in the future. Richard |
deleted user 22.02.2004 09:46 |
Sounds like a good plan to me. |
Mayboy 22.02.2004 09:49 |
80,000 records :0 wow reading all those would take a while |
David Jones 22.02.2004 10:08 |
So will the board return with a new look and design or will it be the same old board? |
Margo 22.02.2004 10:14 |
but... but It took me two years to reach a mere 500 posts! whatever will I do?? *cries* ok, whatever. :) I wonder how many people will download the database.... |
Pim Derks 22.02.2004 10:17 |
Can't this forum just stay online as an archive and put up a new forum in a different directory? Just remove the files which add posts/topics, so that no-one can use it anymore... |
Hitman 22.02.2004 10:17 |
hii...it's the first time everyone agree!!!!! :D ok Richard!!! |
AC 22.02.2004 14:11 |
You can delete and kill us all. |
deleted user 22.02.2004 14:58 |
I do not agree to this part of the deal. |
Daburcor? 22.02.2004 15:07 |
Damn! You keep stealing my thunder Amanda! I wanted to say that... *sniffle* |
Penetration_Guru 22.02.2004 15:19 |
We need a volunteer to keep the useful threads, although I'd struggle to identify them... |
Catgoddess 22.02.2004 15:25 |
Anything Fatty wrote. |
Pluto 22.02.2004 16:55 |
yes go ahead but keep all of fattys things and some of flashmans stuff also some of the where are john and what year did freddie die and stuff like that so nebiews wont take up space later pluto |
Hank H. 23.02.2004 06:26 |
80000 posts: does that mean there are still all the posts that can't be searched anymore online (or onlinely lol)? e.g. the old opposition post and so on? Would be a great idea to make them available somewhere. |
Fenderek 23.02.2004 07:58 |
Don't mind... |
Mr Mercury 23.02.2004 13:21 |
I for one dont mind if all the posts are deleted. I'm sure all topic posters wont mind at all. |
inu-liger 23.02.2004 13:50 |
I am against deleting the messages, because of the fact some of us want to keep our current post count, myself included. What about MexQueenFM's 10000+ post count? Will he be willing to let go of the honour? |
Bohardy 23.02.2004 14:01 |
Honour? Don't you have to do something honourable to be granted honours? |
Guy 23.02.2004 14:05 |
Dark, get yourself together. This is the internet, not real life. Nobody gives a fuck about your post count, not here and not anywhere else. |
MexQueenFM 23.02.2004 14:07 |
LOL I wouldn't give a toss if i went back to zero, I would get back to 10000 soon enough anyways |
Bohardy 23.02.2004 14:13 |
And anyway Dark, if your post count obviously means so much to you (which it obviously does), all you have to do is put in 5 hours of hard graft on the new board, and, assuming an average of 6 seconds per post/reply, you can have a post count of 3000! Come on, just a measly 5 hours of your life! Think of the possibilities! If you put in a whole day's serious hard-labour you could surpass even the Mighty Mex! |
Mayboy 23.02.2004 14:21 |
I think post counts can be backed up the same way the messages can, then your post count number can be transfered onto the new board |
Mr Mercury 23.02.2004 14:34 |
"Dark, get yourself together. This is the internet, not real life. Nobody gives a fuck about your post count, not here and not anywhere else." Well said Guy |
Daburcor? 23.02.2004 15:12 |
"Don't you have to do something honourable to be granted honours?" LMAO! funny... ;) |
Banquo 23.02.2004 15:33 |
Now how did I know fuckwit Dark wouldn't agree to this. Whoever wants to keep the post-count wants to get a life. |
Saffron Caribou 23.02.2004 18:24 |
Go ahead with reseting the post count, and deleting the topics. |
deleted user 23.02.2004 19:25 |
dont delete anythin.....i wrote on this board in 1997.sum thin about how good queen were..or sumthin..anyways, it was interestin an all,an it took me ages to type..so dont go deletin it see? ahh im only joshin with ya...go ahead...i know where ya live. |
inu-liger 23.02.2004 19:45 |
"If you put in a whole day's serious hard-labour you could surpass even the Mighty Mex!" Ah, if I didn't have school and had Internet 24/7, I would be at least 2x where I am at atm. |
McLeod 23.02.2004 21:45 |
Ok ..!! Be Happy..grr :) |
Richard Orchard 23.02.2004 21:54 |
hi, i will keep your post count when the board moves. Richard |
inu-liger 24.02.2004 14:00 |
Domo arigato, Richard-san :) |
geeksandgeeks 26.02.2004 15:39 |
Hmmm...maybe not ALL the old posts. It will take a while, and I know it'll be trouble, and I'm sorry, but maybe exercise a little jurisdiction in what to delete? There's some very worthwhile old topics. Many of the oldbies on the board will try to tell you otherwise, but it's true. |
Mr Coolest Cat 26.02.2004 15:44 |
Do people really give a toss about how many posts they get?, is there some sort of a prize for the first one to a million, very sad. |
MexQueenFM 26.02.2004 16:04 |
it seems Dark does |
dragonzflame 26.02.2004 16:23 |
>>Hmmm...maybe not ALL the old posts. It will take a while, and I know it'll be trouble, and I'm sorry, but maybe exercise a little jurisdiction in what to delete? There's no point. Delete the lot, because there's no way everyone's going to agree on what should be kept. What I'd like to keep and what you'd like to keep and what Dark will want to keep are all going to be totally different things. |
deleted user 26.02.2004 16:24 |
I wish we didn't have post counters in the first place. |
MexQueenFM 26.02.2004 16:40 |
"I wish we didn't have post counters in the first place" Yeah! that way we wouldn't be judge by how much we post :) |
Daburcor? 26.02.2004 16:49 |
Sorry Mex. YOU would still. |
Erin 26.02.2004 16:58 |
Good grief..just noticed Mex's post count! Dude..you are gonna cry, if the board is redone..*LOL* |
MexQueenFM 26.02.2004 17:05 |
"Sorry Mex. YOU would still" eh, it was worth the try "Good grief..just noticed Mex's post count! Dude..you are gonna cry, if the board is redone..*LOL* " Not really, i'm gonna leave anyways :) |
Erin 26.02.2004 17:09 |
"Not really, i'm gonna leave anyways :)" Oh, I see. Just do like me...leave for a few months and always come back. I've been doing that for ages..:-) |
MexQueenFM 26.02.2004 17:10 |
"Oh, I see. Just do like me...leave for a few months and always come back. I've been doing that for ages..:-) " I hope i can do that, and i will try, but that may not be the case :) , but i won't leave immediately , it might take a few months :) , or sooner i hope :) |
The Real Wizard 04.03.2004 12:58 |
"Ah, if I didn't have school and had Internet 24/7, I would be at least 2x where I am at atm." And if I didn't have school and had Internet 24/7, I'd wonder what the hell I was doing on the computer and not at school or working! |
Iam the one 04.03.2004 14:55 |
Yes |
