Hey Pim If you are realy tough you should write this in English Please consider that there is a chance that people are offended by this women unfriendly remark Not only women Ah well, you *might* grow up, there are still miracles happening, so there is hope for you (I shall not wait for it) Pim Derks wrote: IN D'R KONT NAAIUH om het maar 's op z'n boers te zeggen :) |

By that one small comment, you've just lost my respect and sympathy, Pim |
MexQueenFM 17.02.2004 17:00 |
What did he say in English? I agree with the "she's hot" part |
LucyCoeCollins 17.02.2004 17:18 |
she's suppose to play killer queen:-( |
rhapsody__87 17.02.2004 20:12 |
I hate Beyonce... probably a little TOO much. She was annoying when she was in Destiny's Child... now it's just like, no. If they're going to do this movie, they should get someone with real talent. |
Saffron Caribou 17.02.2004 20:19 |
Wha?! Queen movie?! Huh?! Please explain or give the link to this planned "Queen film"? |
Bohardy 17.02.2004 20:20 |
So what the fuck is real talent then? Have you heard Beyonce sing? If you have, you should understand that she's probably a technically better singer than Freddie. She can dance (or gyrate/however you wanna describe it - it floats my canoe at least), she can do a passable impression of acting (in Goldmember, at least) and she (as far as I know) can write or at least co-write some decent pop/whatever-you-want-to-label-it tunes. The fact that she's commercial and popular doesn't automatically make her talentless. Her chunky thighs intimidate me though, and she's no longer the goddess she once was to me. |

**Tue 17 Feb 04** BEYONCE TO STAR IN QUEEN FILM According to WOKR13.TV / ROCHESTER NY: Grammy-winning beauty Beyonce Knowles is in talks to star in the movie version of the London Queen musical "We Will Rock You." The "Baby Boy" pop star sings the famous Queen song with Pink and Britney Spears in the latest British Pepsi commercial and visited the West End's Dominion Theatre, which hosts the hit show, for the launch of the promo last month. Beyonce is hoping the lead role of Killer Queen could win her an Oscar, as Catherine Zeta-Jones' all-singing, all-dancing performance as Velma Kelly in "Chicago" did last year. Production on the film is set to begin in early 2005. Beyonce has previously starred in "Austin Powers in Goldmember" and "The Fighting Temptations." Source: link and NOW Magazine: B WILL ROCK YOU! Ah so now we know why Beyonce, Britney and Pink kept the audience waiting when they recently visited the hit west end musical we will rock you. It would appear that theatre bosses are in secret talks to get the 22 year old singer to appear in a big screen version of the record breaking show and feel she is right for the part. The news is that Beyonce loved the show (she didn’t watch it!) and felt she could handle the lead female role of killer queen.....Production of the film version will start in early 2005. From: link |
Bohardy 17.02.2004 20:21 |
Shoujo, just check out the Queen News on link. EDIT: Obviously I didn't see the previous post when I posted. |
Saffron Caribou 17.02.2004 20:26 |
What the hell?! Ughhh this is really awful. Also, why so soon!? EDIT: Thanks guys for the info. :D Still, I'm not that amused. :S |
rhapsody__87 17.02.2004 20:30 |
Well, sure she can sing, whatever... but wouldn't you want someone like better then her to be in a Queen movie? I don't know if I can explain... but I feel that she's totally coming out of left field and it just seems weird to have BEYONCE in a QUEEN movie. The combination is just... strange! Haha |
Bohardy 17.02.2004 20:34 |
But it sounds like the movie isn't a Queen movie per se, but instead a movie of the WWRY musical (what an astonishingly brilliant and apposite idea, by the way - why not then make a musical of the film?!). For the part of Killer Queen, Beyonce may be just about perfect. I dunno, I've never seen the musical. But whatever, I just don't like people calling obviously talented people untalented. |
rhapsody__87 17.02.2004 20:37 |
Sorry... I don't want to start an argument but I just think we're all entitled to our own opinions. :0) |
Saffron Caribou 17.02.2004 20:41 |
I agree with Bohardy this is more of a musical film, rather than a Queen film. Still I remember that Roger or Brian said on a US entertainment news show that there will be a Queen movie, about Queen or Freddie with that McCormack dude from Will and Grace. I just don't understand why a film so soon about the musical. I reckon that Brian, and Roger are going to produce it right? And perhaps DeNiro's film company would back it up. All I can hear from reading this article is the sound of more cash registers ringing. |
Saffron Caribou 17.02.2004 20:42 |
No no arguements are healthy as long as it doesn't get personal lol |
Adam Baboolal 17.02.2004 21:06 |
"I just don't understand why a film so soon about the musical" Uh...why do you keep saying that? The musical is almost two years old and it'll start production in 2005 when the musical will be almost three years old! "All I can hear from reading this article is the sound of more cash registers ringing." I'll bet you wouldn't say that about something like Rocky Horror or Chicago. Now the Chicago film was a cheap ploy in cashing in. Just look at the Oscars from last year. Nice pat on the back, eh? "they should get someone with real talent." Well, as far as I'm concerned someone who CAN sing well and has appreciative fans must be talented. Someone who is not talented will not get far. And that doesn't mean, won't become famous. If you don't like someone, just say it. That's the reason you don't think she's talented. Saying that Beyonce isn't talented is a bad cover for how you really feel. And even then, I feel it's unwarranted. I think we should be talking about the more interesting aspects of this news. I'd be really excited to see what the sets and locations are used. Can you imagine the imagery that could be involved!? It could look amazing. Especially the wastegrounds. And let's not forget, a Freddie statue and a Brian guitar hailed in a film!! Oh yeah! Peace, Adam. |
Lester Burnham 17.02.2004 21:13 |
What did Pim say? |
NoOneButYou1975 17.02.2004 21:26 |
must have been something derogatory |
rhapsody__87 17.02.2004 21:28 |
I did state that I hate Beyonce... so I'm not covering up anything. ...Or is 'hate' too strong of a word? :) |
Adam Baboolal 17.02.2004 21:35 |
The point being that your hate blinds you to the fact that she is in fact talented. I don't listen to her music or herself much. But she is talented. Adam. |
Penis - Vagina 17.02.2004 21:35 |
All I could get out of an online translator were two words - "width" & "unit" in German. It must not be simple German or the rest would come through. |
Bohardy 17.02.2004 21:35 |
No-one's denying your right to hate her; just try to recognise the difference between somebody having no talent, and somebody being hated by you. The two notions aren't the same. |
Bohardy 17.02.2004 21:35 |
Well, Pim's Dutch DF, so there's a start. |
Saffron Caribou 17.02.2004 21:36 |
The reason why I said it was so soon is that, concerning the US, the musical hasn't even opened yet. What if the musical doesn't succeed in the US? Then when the film is released it will probably bomb due to the bad press (this is hypothetically speaking), then it will be a waste of money. I don't mind if they do a film, it isn't my film. I just think its suitable to wait a little longer before going into a multimillion dollar venture. In the case of Chicago, that musical has been around for years. Mostly everyone knows the story. I have to agree on Rocky Horror. That venture was surely a risk, and I can recall it bombed in the box office, but then became a cult film. See films based around a musical are either hits or misses. It just worries me that this new venture might affect Queen's reputation (although IMO this already happened a long time ago). We just have to wait and see. |
Adam Baboolal 17.02.2004 21:41 |
A good point. But I think you're forgetting their plans for doing a tour in 2005. And the film itself is only starting production in 2005. Then it'll take some time to film and then for post work to be done. By then, it could be late 2005 or even early 2006 by the time it reaches the cinema. Brian has also updated his soapbox with the news that the Las Vegas shows are still going ahead. And with all of that going on in the US alone, I'm sure it'll get some attention. Especially with a star such as Beyonce involved. It'll gain even more interest. Peace, Adam. |
Saffron Caribou 17.02.2004 21:49 |
I thought the tour was postponed until further notice. Ah so it is going to on in 2005 then? |
Adam Baboolal 17.02.2004 21:55 |
It was supposed to be this year till next. But is possibly postponed till next year. It'd be good timing wouldn't it? Bri " There is also Toronto to consider, which at the moment is still on for 2005, so there are many variables. This stuff is new for us, remember!!! But we are doing it OUR WAY !!! (ha ha!) (and how!)" Adam. |
Penis - Vagina 17.02.2004 22:02 |
Hmm, in that case, the first line still doesn't translate but the 2nd comes out as: "to say it but s on his boers" I wonder if 'kont' is what I think it is. |
Saffron Caribou 17.02.2004 22:10 |
What's a boer? I guess we have to wait what the 'kont' means although I have the same idea as you have DF. However, by the sound of Hans post it doesnt sound good. |
Maz 17.02.2004 22:20 |
Am I the only one who thinks this is simply a rumor run wild? |
Saffron Caribou 17.02.2004 22:27 |
If only this was a rumour Zeni, if only it was. I already checked the article at the Queen News section. A local NY TV station? Why isn't this news reported in Variety or Hollywood Reporter (I think its the name) which is more reliable. |
Adam Baboolal 17.02.2004 22:41 |
I saw it on Brian's site. |
Maz 17.02.2004 22:51 |
But Brian's site has published rumor in the past. Personally, the line about Beyonce viewing this as an Oscar caliber role sounds like a massive joke to me. Either I'll look like a horse's ass for doubting this, or very keen. I've got plenty of experience at both, so I'm not too worried. |
LucyCoeCollins 17.02.2004 23:29 |
bohardy what pot have you been smoking eh?? better than freddie you should be slapped her of all people u say is better what's wrong with you man stop sniffing all that coke eh... |
Simmer 18.02.2004 06:54 |
Pim just said: Fuck in the ass! To say it in farmer's language. So, the mystery is finally solved :p |
Bohardy 18.02.2004 07:16 |
Thanks for the concern Athena, but I gave up smoking pot just over 3 years ago, and only occasionally dabble with Bolivian Marching Powder. I didn't say Beyonce is better than Freddie, I stated that she's probably technically a better singer. Obviously that doesn't mean I prefer her to Fred, but rather means that she can do with things with her voice that Fred couldn't, and that require a more developed vocal technique to pull-off. |
Mr. Scully 18.02.2004 07:19 |
Maybe I have no taste but for me Beyonce is far from hot. Same counts for Britney. Andrea Corr looks MUCH better than those two. Maybe it's my opinion only - I prefer women who don't look like prostitutes. |
LucyCoeCollins 18.02.2004 08:05 |
i still beg to differ with you remember a masterpiece called "barcelona" eh;-) |
Pim Derks 18.02.2004 08:06 |
"Pim just said: Fuck in the ass! To say it in farmer's language." Yeah - In response to Paul's "lekker wijf!" post... Wasn't meant to be offending or anything - that's just how Paul + Niek + I talk to each other (we're young & wild ;-)), I'm sorry if anyone was offended.... Let's just say I think Beyonce is hot :-) |
FriedChicken 18.02.2004 08:10 |

Ms.Lurex 18.02.2004 12:28 |
i think beyonce is a beautiful, talented woman...but for her to be in a movie based on queen?? no...i don't go for that...she doesn't fit the bill for killerqueen...and then i know this is silly and childish, but i don't like the idea of morons going to the movies just to see something because beyonce is in it not even really knowing who queen is...get over trying to make money...i honestly think that wouldn't fly well in the united states anyway...queen's music means so much more...it shouldn't be so commercialized all of a sudden just for a quick buck...brian and roger...what are yall doing?!?!?! |
Fenderek 18.02.2004 13:12 |
< AGREE!!! My type is somewhere between Sandra Bullock and Michelle Pfeifer- those are REALLY beautiful women |
rhapsody__87 18.02.2004 15:01 |
< LeahLurex, that is EXACTLY how I feel!!! And the people who know OF Queen but don't know them are like, "oh that gay group?" and then I get REALLY mad. Seriously. People need to expand their horizons... haha |
Adam Baboolal 18.02.2004 15:12 |
Last time I saw WWRY it was about some folk rising up and having a good time. Something to do with enjoying the music and not getting caught up in charting success etc. I don't remember it being about Queen...duh. Try to allow others who otherwise wouldn't give a damn, to enjoy the music. And it's fun for crying out loud! Why do people always have to be so conflicted? "This'll be the death of Queen" or "Queen doesn't exist since 1991". You can't have it both ways. And if there is going to be a movie version then of course they're going to try and source stars like Beyonce. But at the moment no-one really knows if this is simply a rumour or not. So how about waiting for confirmation? Peace, Adam. |
Little_Queenie 23.02.2004 05:30 |
Bohardy??? You said Beyonce is "probably tehnically better singer than Freddie"????? Umm.... Well dear, that's your oppinion any way.. I absoulutely disagree with you on this one though. I listened to her, think she is talented and beautiful woman, very good voice also, but better than Freddie???? Oh please, don't make me laugh. |
Bohardy 23.02.2004 09:30 |
My reply is copied and pasted directly from page 2 of this thread... I didn't say Beyonce is better than Freddie, I stated that she's probably technically a better singer. Obviously that doesn't mean I prefer her to Fred, but rather means that she can do with things with her voice that Fred couldn't, and that require a more developed vocal technique to pull-off. |
The Mir@cle 23.02.2004 10:00 |
Beyonce has my vote. I hate the kind of music she makes, but her voice very good. And I think that she really likes to play her part in the movie. |
