Did Queen Do drugs?

freddies_chicka 15.02.2004 02:58	i know that practacly every rock musician did drugs. But, did queen do drugs. If so, who, and what kind.
Daburcor? 15.02.2004 03:17	I KNOW Freddie was a 'coker'. I'm not sure if he was a coke head or anything though. ;)
Pim Derks 15.02.2004 05:05	Roger did coke once, didn't like it and never did it again. Dunno about BM+JD.
Mayboy 15.02.2004 07:15	I cant imagine Brian taking any, could be wrong though...
Penis - Vagina 15.02.2004 07:56	"Roger did coke once, didn't like it and never did it again." I think this is in reference to marijuana actually. He made a statement like that in his interview on 'Champions Of The World' but it wasn't about coke. He may have said the same thing about coke for all I know though. According to Peter Freestone's book, Freddie was quite fond of coke, but my favorite story is when he tried some acid and was found in a trash can among empty beer cans screaming "Look! I'm trash! Trash!" :)
Pim Derks 15.02.2004 08:03	You're right DF, it was about marijuana.
*the Time Guardian* 15.02.2004 08:12	I've read that they put pot in tea bags
earwig 15.02.2004 09:12	If you read the Motley Crue autobiography The Dirt you'll read about a certain former dental student, who's now a drummer, attending a dinner with Tommy Lee - with trayfuls of the white stuff there!!!
Dances With Freddie 15.02.2004 09:38	not good... "my favorite story is when he tried some acid and was found in a trash can among empty beer cans screaming "Look! I'm trash! Trash!" :)" lol! :)
Whatinthewhatthe? 15.02.2004 10:41	Gee...if Roger had become a dentist he might have become addicted to...nitrous oxide!!! (LOL)
Brian's sweet sister 15.02.2004 11:18	I read that Brian DID do drugs!!! I was very surprised to read that!! It said him and Freddie used to sneak back and take coke or summit. I am outraged...tut-tut
Mr Coolest Cat 16.02.2004 12:53	They might not all have been into 'charlie', but they certainly provided enough for their guests at parties, bowls full of the stuff on top of the heads of dwarves.
Mr. Teatime 16.02.2004 14:04	Freddie and Roger both did a lot of coke and loved the whole rock and roll lifestyle Brian never did drugs. Not sure about John but I think he was somewhere between Freddie and Brian in terms of excess.
SallyJ. 16.02.2004 15:47	"Brian never did drugs" Sorry, but you sound very sure of yourself, do you think it's really true? As they all sort of grew up during the sixties/seventies (the era when all sorts of people experimented with drugs), and were in a band, which is even more reason to assume they DID try drugs, because that was cool in those days, I think it would be incredibly naive to think they did not do drugs. Even though it might have just been a try-out thing. Even though it might have been soft drugs like marijuana. I am sure they all smoked marijuana, especially when they shared a flat together in London. I know Freddie did coke. But that is really all I am sure about!
geeksandgeeks 16.02.2004 16:10	I'm sure Brian did something. Why is he always painted as such a goody-goody. He was a rock star, in his twenties and thirties, in the seventies, he must have tried something. And I read that they used to put pot in the tea and brownies.
Mr. Teatime 16.02.2004 17:18	Well Brian has stated many times that he never did any drugs. He didn't smoke either, and would often go into a different room when the rest of the band smoked. He has said this many times on his soapbox and I believe him.
Sonja 17.02.2004 03:13	"I'm sure Brian did something. Why is he always painted as such a goody-goody. He was a rock star, in his twenties and thirties, in the seventies, he must have tried something." I agree. Even if he tried it once or twice and if it was just pot but he certainly tried something. Every second 16-year old you'd meet on the street has already tried something, at least pot! So why in the world should Brian haven't tried it if he was on that scene??
iGSM 17.02.2004 03:18	I thought Brian did heroin? Poor old John..probably using vallium. JD: Oh yeah, this is hell pure shi...snore
siljeoen 17.02.2004 05:30	lol!!:)
ploughman 17.02.2004 14:48	I agree. Even if he tried it once or twice and if it was just pot but he certainly tried something. Every second 16-year old you'd meet on the street has already tried something, at least pot! "So why in the world should Brian haven't tried it if he was on that scene??" Times are diffrent. And I highly doubt your statistics. I can easily say that less than 10% of my friends have tried anything like that and are all well beyond their 30's..:. I think we should believe Brian. He NEVER smoked, so why should habe he tried pot then? I know Freddie did amounts... I don't know about John. Roger said he tried some pot once and it didn't suit for him. But he was a booze-hound in the 80's And what is this myth, that there aren't any "clear" rock-stars. Steve Harris from Iron Maiden: no cigarets, no drugs, a bit of beer and a lots of sports (footie)
Little_Queenie 17.02.2004 17:02
Little_Queenie 17.02.2004 17:07	I agree, and I believe Brian. It's not that I'm trying to idealize him, but if he said he never tried drugs, I believe him. Why not? And that statement that every second 16 year old tried marijuana isn't true. Freddie took coke, Roger tried once marijuana and hated it (said he felt like his brain was going to explode:)). John - I don't know. But Roger and Fred were total booze freaks, that's true... I think they have no reason to lie, and these are their own statements, so I believe them..
Saffron Caribou 17.02.2004 20:06	Naw they did tons of drugs! They were rock stars! I don't believe Roger's statement that he tried marijuana only once. To me, he looked pretty stoned in some pics from the 70's. John and Brian had the odd drink. Freddie was known to have taken cocaine.
Polar Bear 17.02.2004 23:34	Whoever metioned the Motley Crue Autobiography, sadly hasn't read Crystal's page who negates that story. And more to the point, how could one possible believe something that a member of Motley crue has recounted from the eighties?!
Little_Queenie 18.02.2004 06:36	Naw they did tons of drugs! They were rock stars! So what?? I think it's bullshit to think all rock stars are taking drugs!! It has nothing to do with it, if you are a strong personality and don't want to take it, then you won't take it even if you are God himself... Rock stars are only humans, and there sure are those who do, but also those who don't take drugs... I don't believe Roger's statement that he tried marijuana only once. To me, he looked pretty stoned in some pics from the 70's. Oh, darling, lol, you should see me how I look when I'm pissed.... stoned is a small word:) lol, like death on two legs:)) And I don't smoke, and tried pot only once, and felt so horrible... If I was a dozen times rock star I would have never tried it again!!! So I pretty much believe Roger when he says he felt awful after a pot cause I felt the same... And your statement that he looked stoned on pics.. Like I said, many people look the same when they are only pissed..
Hitman 18.02.2004 06:55	I agree!i play with my band since 2000 and i never tried (and don't want to take) drugs...ok ok, i know i'm not a rockstar (now...) ;o) the fact you are famous doesn't mean you take drugs. But unfortunately often stars "consider" drugs...personally i can't see a reason, maybe there is no reason. Anyway i don't believe Roger tried only once :)
Robin 18.02.2004 07:52	Ted Nugent is a great example of a rock star in the 70's that you would think was heavy into drugs and booze. He never ever touched the stuff.
Mr. Scully 18.02.2004 08:17	I think it was Freddie and Roger on one side (drugs) and Brian and John on the other side (alcohol).
iGSM 18.02.2004 08:31	Especially when John rang up Margaret Thatcher in the early 80's. click MT: Hello, Maggie Thatcher speaking? JD: Yesh, I'm Deacon Jo-hic-hn...wait..thatsh not my name..John Deacon from some hic band or other.. MT: Oh yes, that band with the big teethed fellow. JD: Yesh, that's him..anywho hic I was thinking if ANYONE knew where to get some tang it would be you. MT: But sir.. JD: SHUT UP! And another thing flushes toilet -- In all reality John probably did smack, dope, pink, horse, bone, pipe, limp; everything. He just really took it well.
The Real Wizard 20.03.2004 00:32	I once read a story about how Brian got piss drunk with Joe Perry before a spring 1974 concert, and because Brian was so bombed, he couldn't hear himself play at all, and just had to play from memory. After that show, he vowed to never drink or do any kind of drug before a show again! This is the show when Aerosmith and Queen fought over who would play first. While the two bands were fighting (minus the guitarists), Brian and Joe took the time to get to know each other. Quite a nice story, I think!
jorge 20.03.2004 00:58	Once in Mtv talked about a Queen party, with disguised midgets "serving" cocaine in trays to their guests Something very imaginative-- Will it have been true? Why not?
Simoriah 20.03.2004 11:18	And during that tour, didn't Roger hang out with Steve Tyler? God KNOWS what happened there! Is nitrous oxidee what they give you when you're in labour? I had gas and air for HOURS - fantastic stuff!
freddies_chicka 21.03.2004 18:33	dont ever sniff hydrochloric acid mixed with zinc. There was a lab in science and we had to add zinc to hcl, we had to sniff it. They wanted you to do the princess wave smell. I had a cold, and the princess wave didnt work for me. So i put it right next to my nose and sniffed away, and it got me totally stoned. me and my friend took turns smelling it, and we had a boogie time. I was high for a good two hours. I have never used drugs or gotten high before, this was a very rare thing.
missikay78 30.03.2004 18:14	Doesn't most rockers dope it at some point?
The Real Wizard 31.03.2004 13:30	Gee, as long as we're not being stereotypical or anything.
fairy_mercury 31.03.2004 13:52	well if they did, looked what they produced...and again if they didn't...well look what the produced...who really cares? sighs
YourValentine 31.03.2004 14:05	"Once in Mtv talked about a Queen party, with disguised midgets "serving" cocaine in trays to their guests" You should watch the channel 4 documentary "Killer Queen" - they have about 20 people denying that myth in the funniest way.
Lawyeris 01.04.2004 06:43	Nop, they didn't the drugs, they were just drug dealers
deleted user 01.04.2004 09:16	Guitar Hero wrote: Gee, as long as we're not being stereotypical or anything. LOL Bob... I wsn't a 'star' in the 80's but our band had quite a following. And yes there was drugs avai;able to whoever wanted them. I was just a 'pot-head' while several of the others enjoyed other things. Coke is dangerous and quite worthless in my opinion. Never try it. It can destroy everything you have.
The Real Wizard 01.04.2004 12:28	I never knew you were a rocker, Matt! What was your band called, and what kind of stuff did you play?
deleted user 01.04.2004 12:32	Masquerade was the name of the band, and metal was our game. Stuff like Dokken, Maiden, Dio. The other band I was in was called "Risk". That one was a bit more pop-metal orientated. We did however rock the house every chance we got!
deleted user 01.04.2004 12:35	I sang and played guitar. Now I play the acoustic more than anything (and classical). When some of my stuff (Queen covers) gets uploaded here, you'll hear it. Or if you have MSN, I'll send you a copy :)
The Real Wizard 01.04.2004 16:13	Sure, add me to your MSN. bobw_22@hotmail.com
jasen101 01.04.2004 16:16	freddie probably did cocaine and E when he was partying...i doubt he did any when he was on stage...I've done cocaine in the past(unfortunately when i was experimenting) and it can dry your throat out terribly...it also makes you talk an awful lot of nonsense.
Penetration_Guru 01.04.2004 17:03	...but the effects last so long, it appears
deleted user 01.04.2004 17:16	LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!
Daburcor? 01.04.2004 17:23	I second that Matt!
Zander05 01.04.2004 17:30	OK we all know Freddie and Roger did coke. Brian...not sure what he did. John was a very heavy drinker. I Guess Brian maybe experimented with coke but eventually got bored with it. Maybe he did acid? Who knows? But it's very wrong to say Queen never did drugs. Most bands talk about the effects of their trips (Motley Crue, Aerosmith) but Queen never did (except Rog on the marijuana thing on Champs)I guess because there was no need to say it. Everyone knows that they all at some point immersed themselves in the rock lifestyle. Who did the least amount? I suppose Brian?
The Real Wizard 01.04.2004 18:23	giggles @ P_G I would have laughed rather loudly, but I'm in class right now. :)
MsMercury01 01.04.2004 23:26	I had always heard about Freddie doing coke but the rest of the band; I have no idea. Alot of people did drugs in the 70's and 80's. I did alot of drugs in the 80's. It's really no big deal. Teri
Lawyeris 02.04.2004 00:41	Guitar Hero wrote: giggles @ P_G I would have laughed rather loudly, but I'm in class right now. :) You should tell this joke to all class and laugh all together:)
The Real Wizard 02.04.2004 23:42	"You should tell this joke to all class and laugh all together:)" Alright, maybe next time. ;)
