Anyone likes them? They're my second favorite band and I'm just curious if there are more "fans" of them around here... :)
Also, if anyone has some live material of theirs, drop me a line at guyk@-REMOVE-ohel-shem.com (remove the "-REMOVE-" part, it's anti spam ;), I'm sure we can work out an ELO for Queen trade :)

I like them quite a bit. The Xanadu soundtrack is one of my favorites.
They are a good band :)
One of my faves, though I'm not a huge fan or anything the way I am with Queen.
I love Xanadu too. On an ELO boxed set is a version of Xanadu performed by them alone, without Olivia. It's pretty cool.
ELO is cool. :) I like a few of their songs and for Christmas this year I got a 3 CD box set so I hope to get more into them soon, any suggestions on what to listen to first? The box set is called: Flashback.
It's this one, "Flashback" link
I think 'Livin' Thing' is my favorite. And I must say, ELO gets grand prize for one of the worst edit jobs ever with "Sweet Talkin' Woman"
and I don't mean editing for the single.. the original version is horribly edited together. It drives me batty.
Blinded by the Light!
Wrapped up like a douche like a loner in the night!
Blinded by the Liiiiight!
;):P
Love that song :D
I LOVE the Xanadu film!
I'm Aliiiiiiiveeee
I'm Alive :D
Oh right! My mistake! Its odd though, that song reminds me of ELO :))
Wait!
EDIT: I think its
Don't bring me downnnnnnnnn
NO NO NO NO
Oooohh ooh!
Is that by ELO?
She said lamama lamama Rock and Roll is King
She saaaaaaid
Fuck! I dont know shite about music :)) :P
Yeah, "Don't Bring Me Down" & "Rock 'N' Roll Is King" are theirs :)
"Mr. Blue Sky" is my favorite song, but the Xanadu soundtrack is awesome (especially "Xanadu" & "All Over The World") :)
Fire on High (agony of defeat Wide World of Sports theme song many years ago) is a classic. Unfortunately it is not on their Strange Magic 2 CD set I got for x-mas ;(
I can't say I've heard all of the Beatles' songs, nor ELO's, but the ones I have aren't even close to being similar.
I've never heard Fire On High, but I'll check it out! :)
I do think that a few of the early ELO songs sounded "Beatle-ish". After the first couple albums though, it seemed to diminish. But on the album "Zoom" that was released in 2001, I did hear a distinct nod to the Beatles again on a few songs. George Harrison once commented...that if the Beatles would have remained together as a band, they would have evolved to an ELO type sound.
A few years ago, I was rehearsing with my band in a studio and for fun we started messing around with some old ELO numbers, after doing a passable version of Wild West Hero we sat about having a drink before starting on new material and who should walk in but the keyboard player for ELO back in the mid seventys, he had been listening upstairs in the control room.
Anyway after rather a lot of laughter and a suggestion we should pay him some royalties he went back upstairs, seems he never thought he'd hear anyone playing their stuff these days and felt really good hearing it, we asked him if he wanted to play along but sadly he declined, I feel he was being rather kind about our version, but nevertheless it was one of those one in a million chances that we laughed about for months
