First thing I did was listen to FBG to see if they've fixed the glitch.. no. So just for the heck of it, I looked at the disc. Three BIG marks on it and some sort of smudge like a fingerprint. WTF? A Brand new CD!
I've never had this happen with a new CD out of thousands. Nice work, Hollywood.
So anyway, now I have to drive practically to another town to the only Best Buy around that has another copy.
The marks are not the cause of the glitch though, it's well known. I was kinda hoping they'd fixed it by now. It's a little squeak during the vocal intro btw, for anyone that doesn't know about it.
I can imagine the scenario here. Someone bought it, complained about the glitch, didn't know how to treat discs so it got marked and fingerprinted, returned it, Hollywood resealed it without looking and sent it back out. Fuckers!
(As the one who first mentioned the Rocks glitch in the Queen newsgroup ;)
...apparently the glitch was on some Jazz CDs too, but I hear those are fixed, so hopefully a better master of FBG was made.
Is Rocks still in print by the way? They probably thought a compilation CD wasn't worth all the work of redoing just for that minor glitch, since purists would have the entire album anyway.
Also my CD is a US edition...is this glitch on other versions?
So someone fingered your CD? Sounds like you got a rewrap to me!
You should have ordered one from Spun.com or Cheap-CDs.com, you would have been a little happier (and saved some money)!
Ewww. I can't stand the thought of someone touching MY new CD.....

YOU CAN'T HAVE IT ALEX!!
*snatching it back and running like mad*
Good pic -- but you look slightly wasted -- is Gregory treating you to that gold tequila again? Oh, my....
I haven't heard the 2001 remaster yet, but the 1998 version on 'Crown Jewels' is thankfully fine. It amazes me that stuff like this gets released. Couldn't they at least have one pre-release disc-listening-person spend 70 minutes and listen to the thing, making sure there's nothing wrong before the public gets it?
Anyway, as for the fondled disc, it's now been replaced. Put in the computer once to extract for a listening copy (where I corrected the glitch by inserting the intro from another version brought up to the same ridiculously loud mastering volume as the rest) and now safely rewrapped and placed in my Queen storage unit. I've done this with all the CDs I've been buying and re-buying on the current leg of my Queen obsession. I'm treating them as precious master tapes now. LOL
"Errr I really like the rocking version of ICLWY."
I like it better than the original album version myself. And, LOL @ your sig Marie! I laughed so hard I think I woke up... well everyone. LOL!
