I just have to admit it: it might change again but right now I find this song so annoyingly overplayed that I never want to hear it again in my life! I can skip it when I play ANATO, Greatest Hits or any live concert but then it's on each and every little feature, documentary or report ever filmed about Queen. You just cannot watch 10 minutes of an interesting documentary without the four heads popping up and "is this the real life" starting to whine away. How do other people feel about this? Mainly those of you who remaster(forgive me, Adam) live shows or encode videos? Tell me I am not the only one:-) |
wstüssyb 09.02.2004 08:54 |
not getting tired of it, maybe it cuz I have not heard a queen song in about 3 months =-) |
Fenderek 09.02.2004 09:00 |
Maybe not with Bo Rhap, but I've got exactly the same with We Will Rock You, Champions, Ga-Ga and IWTBF- just skip them, heard too many bloody times... (so I indulge into things like "Sleeping On THe Sidelwalk" or "Fight FRom The Inside"- the ones I at some pont overlooked and am now discovering again...) |

YourValentine: listen to Bho Rap on DVD-A or GVH 1 version in DTS. an amazing experience! |
Nathalie_queenfan 09.02.2004 09:15 |
I NEVER get tired of BoRhap! It's my favourite song of all time!!!!! |
YourValentine 09.02.2004 09:21 |
"YourValentine: listen to Bho Rap on DVD-A or GVH 1 version in DTS" nice advice but it hasn't helped |
Penis - Vagina 09.02.2004 09:26 |
Yep, I've said it here before. It's still a brilliant song, but I don't need to hear it again for a few months or so. Here's a list of songs that need to be retired for awhile: -Bohemian Rhapsody -Walking On Sunshine (Retire forever, destroy all masters, stop licensing, develop a way of permanently deleting from memory) -Sara (Starship) -Boys Of Summer -Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) -Sweet Home Alabama -And many more! |
Mr. Scully 09.02.2004 09:28 |
I have a similar feeling. I must say that whenever I listen to ANATO DVD-A, I always listen to Good Company, Seaside Rendezvous, '39 or The Prophet's Song (minus the middle part). |
ogre t raylot 09.02.2004 09:29 |
I'm certainly in the tired of it camp. |
Mr.Jingles 09.02.2004 09:36 |
Somehow I've never liked the intro to Bohemian Rhapsody. It's a little overplayed, but I don't seem to get tired of it... not yet. WWRY & WATC get really boring after being heard so many times, especially here in the US where they played both songs in a row. However, it's great to hear some of the new versions of those songs. Even though I hate Robbie Williams, I have to admit that I absolutely love the guitar solo by Brian on the new version of 'Champions' sung by Robbie. |
Pim Derks 09.02.2004 09:41 |
The opera & rock parts are still great. The rest is só boring to me these days. |
Guy 09.02.2004 09:50 |
I'm not tired of it, because I try not to listen to one song too much. It happened to me with Breakthru, there was a time when I heard that song 5 times a day, and obviously stopped listening to it after a few days. Besides, it's quite clear why it "represents" Queen so much and is mentioned everywhere. |
Rien 09.02.2004 09:57 |
Bohemian Rhapsody just cannot get boring to me. If it would, the right medicine to take is stop listening to Queen music completely for some months. It sometimes happens to me (not playing their music for a while) and then when I actually really listen to the music again, it surprises me again. But Bohrap has never bored me. |
Sonja 09.02.2004 10:11 |
Bo Rhap is boring me, too. As well as all the 80's stuff, A kind of magic, the works, actually everything that's on the GH compilations bores me to death. Just listening to Queen I & II and a Day at the races at the moment. |
Maz 09.02.2004 10:17 |
Try listening to it backwards. Like Stussy, I haven't listened to a Queen CD in months, so I can't help too much. |
FM 09.02.2004 10:21 |
BoRap could never bore me as it truly defined the uniqueness and the incredible talents and emotions of Freddie. This was his "baby". When you hear, in my opinion, the name Freddie Mercury, the song Bohemian Rhapsody comes to your mind. It's one of those songs that will live on forever--a true classic that will never die. It's not a boring song; how could it be boring? |
Mr.Jingles 09.02.2004 10:39 |
It doesn't matter how great a song is. Too much overplaying gets quite annoying. Even 'Stairway To Heaven' was getting boring through the 70s after being heard so many times on record stores. There's even a reference of this situation on 'Wayne's World'. Of course this doesn't mean that songs like 'Stairway To Heaven', 'Bohemian Rhapsody', or 'Hotel California' are boring. Just that people don't want to hear the same song for a million times. |
Lester Burnham 09.02.2004 10:41 |
I find Bohemian Rhapsody to be extremely overplayed, and I have heard it so many times that I can play it perfectly in my head, and even then I'm tired of it. It's a great song and all, but it's like 'Stairway To Heaven' or any other overexposed song: it just becomes tiresome to listen to it all the time. I've given up on Bohemian Rhapsody (hell, even Queen for a little bit) to expand my horizons instead of listening to the same old damned song over and over. |
Robin 09.02.2004 11:06 |
I'm with you, Barb. I skip it every time....video, concert or cd. Also Radio GaGa, Crazy, and a couple of others. It's not that I don't like them, I'm just sick of hearing them. I guess for some of us it's also a matter of hearing it since it first came out. Truth be told, I never got tired of it in the 70's or 80's, it was after Waynes World. |
Megamike The GREAT 09.02.2004 11:13 |
Listen to the Bad News version a few times... you will WANT to hear the real version.. ;-) BTW, I am that way with Radio Ga Ga.. I had heard it soooo much that I lost interest in it.. of course it could have been because I recorded myself singing it (thank GOD my mom threw that away.. I couldn't bring myself to throw it away) |
Hitman 09.02.2004 11:24 |
Hummm...i don't have this Bored feeling at all with BoRhap!!!!At all!!! Some stuff from Hot space sometimes are boring (Body language) and some other songs (Coming soon, Get down make love) can bore me after some listening because they are "repetitive"...but Bohemian Rhapsody NO!It is an ecletctic song, the opera part can be listened times and you can òlisten some new features!! maybe you have listened it far TOO many times...i canunderstand, but if you quit listening for a little period then you will appreciate it again. It's a mesterpiece. i would never stop looking Mona Lisa's smile (the most famous Leonardo's work...not the movie!!!) and i would never stop listening BoRhap. Just think if your wish becomes true and you will never listen it again!!!!!!!!Argh...what an unlucky event would be!! |
Hank H. 09.02.2004 11:24 |
Very tired of it. At first I had the Greatest Hits compilation I, later II when it came out, and whenever I bought another Queen-album I always skipped the songs that I already new from the compilations. That's very much the case with Bicycle, which I maybe played five times in the last ten years or so since I owned the Jazz album. But BoRhap and almost all other "hits" are no more played in my stereo. And since last summer I don't have any Queen music with me so I didn't listen to any, but sometimes it happens I want to hear Queen II, NOTW or maybe some other song from the 70s. I still like live recordings of most of the songs. |
Sebastian 09.02.2004 12:13 |
I used to be tired of it and stopped listening the song for months, until November last year when I started recording my version. Now I'm planning three more different versions apart from the one I already finished, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to hate that song after that |
MexQueenFM 09.02.2004 12:30 |
I"m not tired of Bo Rhap yet, but I'm tired of WWRY and Radio Ga Ga |
Babel_esp 09.02.2004 12:38 |
Maybe it is time to discover Hot Space album? XDXDXDXD |

Deacon Fan: Here's a list of songs that need to be retired for awhile: -Bohemian Rhapsody -Walking On Sunshine (Retire forever, destroy all masters, stop licensing, develop a way of permanently deleting from memory)AMEN! -Sara (Starship) -Boys Of Summer -Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) -Sweet Home Alabama -And many more! My friends & I have talked about this very topic for years. We refer to them as "Shelf Songs", we all know they're a classic but its time to put them up on a shelf. You can add; Black Dog, Rock & Roll, Hey Jude, Life's been Good to Me, oh & don't for get Rock & Roll All Night. Any others you would like to add to the "Shelf List" ? This could be the start of a new game. |
freddies_chicka 09.02.2004 14:05 |
I dont think Bohemian Rhapsody needs to be retired at all, maybe its because im 13 and didnt listen to it nearly every day since 75. but I got it on cd, and listened to it every day for 3 months, during the summer, and i still love it,6 months later (i don't listen to it every day) it is just like the first time I hear it, every time i hear it, except i know the words. It still gives me that magical feel! |
Sonja 09.02.2004 14:52 |
A song that actually never ever bores me is Hammer To Fall. And there's no reason for it, I simply think it's brilliant! |
freddies_chicka 09.02.2004 15:53 |
I agree! I love hammer to fall. My favorite part is, "WHAT THE HELL WE FIGHTING FOR! Just surrender and it wont hut at all!" |
Mr.Jingles 09.02.2004 16:23 |
I know a couple of songs that were too goddamn overplayed. Some so overplayed at the time they were hits that people don't want to hear them ever again. Every Breath You Take... The Police Eternal Flame... The Bangles I Will Always Love You... Whitney Houston Don't Speak... No Doubt and of course... My Heart Will Go On, by Celine Dion. |

I dont listen to BORHAP enough, to be honest :P |
Penis - Vagina 09.02.2004 18:31 |
-Old Time Rock N' Roll -Pink Houses One exception is Dancing Queen. That song can never be played too much. ;) |
Kuku 10.02.2004 01:02 |
I avoid the problem by compiling all the songs from the CD's and listening to "the song of the day" in a random fashion. It's always really exciting to encounter the song that I didn't think would pop up. The greatness of "random" feature! But, of course, whether we get tired of it or not, Freddie will sing on like a little bird and cheerfully scoff at people who dare to get tired of his songs. |
goinback 10.02.2004 04:04 |
I also never want to hear another Eagles song for as long as I live (especially Hotel California of course). Actually I could add Steve Miller, Aerosmith (Queen wanna-bes) and Fleetwood Mac to that list. |
Sonja 10.02.2004 06:06 |
My god Eternal Flame and My Heart Will Go On - NEVER AGAIN!!! And "Mandy" - and these idiots from Westlife go and make a cover of it, that songs follows you everywhere you go - horrible!! I can't stand it anymore! Hey Jude by the Beatles I Don't Want To Miss A Thing by Aerosmith Of course We Will Rock You (hope they won't use it for another 8 tv ads) There are hundreds of songs that make me run away within the first 3 seconds. |
Lawyeris 10.02.2004 06:11 |
YV, you are not real Queen fan anymore! |
deleted user 10.02.2004 06:30 |
i think everyone on the earth gets bored by some songs, especially when you're listening to them again and again. Luckily, boh rap is not one of those, even if I tend to skip many Queen hits lately, a kind of magic and i want to break free above all. when i think i'm gonna get bored by some songs, i listen to them during the night with my headphones and i try to notice some new sounds: it's amazing and it worked for me. Tried with you're my best friend and now i like it very much, i tried to focus my attention on the electric piano only, which is amazing actually. cheers! |
Fenderek 10.02.2004 08:05 |
< Yeah- I'm doing the same... But- unfortunatelly (?)- with AKOM , Ga-Ga and IWTBF it didn't change anything... |
Sonja 10.02.2004 10:18 |
I do the same sometimes. I always like to figure out the bass!! and after a while the bass is the only thing i hear in the song... did the same with guitar and keyboard/piano but bass is much more fun! :-) |
Virtuoso 10.02.2004 10:29 |
"YV, you are not real Queen fan anymore!"-Well,that wasn't a smart thing to say. |
SlightlyQueenMad 10.02.2004 12:38 |
I'm a bit tired of it too to be honest :-) But i still think it's one of the most beautiful songs, and i actually love the "maaammaa ooooOo" part best. At the moment at least. But of course it's good with all those parts together, thats the thing about the song so. But then it's so loooong, so i use to skip it of that reason :-P I don't know if i'm tired of it then, maybe it's just too long.. But it's still one of the best :-) |
Saint Jiub 11.02.2004 00:27 |
not bored, but much of the thrill is gone ... still enjoy it when I hear the studio version, but it is usually not a highlight in most concerts. |
Lawyeris 11.02.2004 01:02 |
Virtuoso - I know it:) |
iGSM 11.02.2004 08:56 |
I like listening to it via the film clip...then I like drawing little horns on John when he looks at the camera and then drawing Brian eating his head because he's made of snails. I never tire of Breakthru/Man on the Prowl (only really just 'discovered' this song) and My Melancholy Blues..oh, and Spread your Wings. But I don't tire per se of a song.. I just don't play it..for about 5-10 minutes then it's back. |
D.Blythe 11.02.2004 09:40 |
I,too,am a little burned out on BoRhap. It is one of the four Queen songs that are always played on the radio around here. (South Bend/Mishawaka,Indiana) The others are "Fat Bottomed Girls", "We Will Rock You", and "We Are The Champions". It is also hard for Elvis fans, as the only songs that get consistent airplay are; "Love Me Tender", "Jailhouse Rock", "Teddy Bear", "Can't Help Falling In Love", "Are You Lonesome Tonight", and "Suspicious Minds". The man recorded over 400 songs, how about playing more than 5 or 6? All the radio stations around here are run by conglomerates that probably have some research department that tries to figure out the handful of songs by each artist to run into the ground. It is like they have a greatest hits album by each artist and then play only 4 or 5 songs from each one. Some other songs that need to be put in a time capsule for about 5 years; anything by Creedence Clearwater Revival anything by Steve Miller "Rock and Roll" and "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin "Sympathy for the Devil", and "Gimme Shelter" by Rolling Stones the entire first album by Boston BOTH versions of "Lean on Me" Again, I do not necessarily HATE these songs, I just want to hear OTHER songs once in a while. Speaking of Elvis, we also need to put those Alfred Wertheimer photos to bed for a generation. Those are the same twelve or thirteen black and white photos you always see and the same ones that get reshuffled and put out on a calendar every year. (Elvis looking at fan mail, playing records on a train, kissing a girl backstage, etc...) |

Love your signature D.Blythe! I've been in love with "Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters" ever since it was used in 'Almost Famous' :) |

Thank you, Deacon Fan. I have loved it since "Honky Chateau". |

EMI 2375 I think someone summed it up in an earlier post, Bohemian Rhapsody means different things to different people, thats what makes us all unique. It was the first Queen Song I heard in back In 1975 , and its still my fave record ever, sure we all hear this one to death, but its still magic to me if maybe not others...however, use it sparingly and hopefully it won't get too boring..............lol |
Simmer 11.02.2004 18:49 |
I never get tired of it... very strange. ;p |
