The Super Bowl (in the US) will be starting in a matter of hours, though since 10 AM (CST) there have been so many pre-game shows it's been boring! Has anyone heard whether the Pepsi commercial's been cleared for US audiences or not? I kept an ear glued to the news the past few days but nothing's been mentioned at all. I will be tuning in to the game for the commercials and hope that one will be amongst the many that people anticipate every year!
I've seen some previews for some interesting ones...but naturally want the Pepsi one (with the Queen music, forget who's singing it!) to come out on top, like the Mountain Dew Bo Rhap one did four years ago!
I hate football, but I'll be on the computer, while watching it because I don't want to miss the Pepsi commercial, and any other ones good ones that might be shown.
So far no official statement about the Pepsi ad not being aired. In fact, yesterday it has been repeteadly previewed on news reports about the upcoming super bowl commercials.
"Oh Lisa I got to see Greg last nite...:) and yes he was in the leotards :)"
Alex -- you lucky thing you!!
I'll bet they blew the roof off last night!!
MJ79, I haven't seen any reference to any Pepsi ads, only the beer and crisps commercials (that are always funny!). I wonder if the whole three-minute commercial will be shown, or an edited version?
(And were Brian and Roger in the thing? No-one's ever said!)
Lisa, for the past week I've seen quite a lot of small previews for the Pepsi ad. So I doubt very much Pepsi might be thinking of pulling out the ad.
I doubt very much that the 3 minute version will be shown, but my guess is that it will most likely be the 1 minute version.
I'm sure that at some point the 3 minute version will be available for downloading at the Pepsi website. Or at least it will end up on Kazaa.
"Viewers tuning in to Super Bowl XXXVIII on Sunday may notice something missing: There won’t be many of those expensive, stop-in-your-tracks advertising extravaganzas that have characterized the game since Apple Computer’s "1984" ad two decades ago."
"U.S. entertainment-news shows have been airing scenes from a flashy Pepsi spot featuring pop princesses Pink, Britney Spears and Beyonce Knowles, plus Latin crooner Enrique Iglesias, all dressed like gladiators. But the spot was produced to air in overseas markets and isn’t going to run during the Super Bowl. A spokesman for Pepsi, a unit of PepsiCo, says the celebrity ad doesn’t match the current U.S. campaign." link
Pepsi have bought 3 minutes of ad time and will be showing 5 ads. I'll be happy if I'm wrong, but the We Will Rock You one isn't one of them.

I saw snippits of the commercial a few days ago, too. Brian and Roger are in it - they are clapping within the crowd...basically put on the backburners, don'tcha know? ;^)
I hate the Superbowl, so I won't be watching it.
So am I the only one in the world who can't stand Aerosmith? Their image is what Queen (and the Rolling Stones) used to be - especially the lead singer/guitar player - except so generic and boring.
the commercial wasn't cleared for viewing in the US... i'm definitely not crying as it pains me to even hear britney's voice struggle to sing "we will rock you"...
...and about aerosmith -- i didn't see their performance but i think steven tyler is absolutely awesome and it's great that all of the guys are still performing after all these years. i'm trying to get tix for their upcoming tour!
it's the closest i'll ever get to queen -- 70's rock legends. :-\
It can be downloaded from link - the 30mb version is the 4th link in the list at the bottom of the page. Also, further up the page they now have a higher quality (140mb) version.
Or for those who want to see it without downloading it, it can be viewed at link
Joe Perry RULES!! (LOL)
They still rock, that's what matters. If Freddie were still with us, it would be Queen up there and not Aerosmith! (Steve can still hit those high notes, yes indeed!!)
I don't see Queen big enough in America as to be chosen to perform at the Superbowl halftime.
However, it would have been perfect for them to perform at the FIFA World Cup final.
I wish they were though!! After seeing all the "rappers" grabbing their crotches a la Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson getting attacked by Justin Trousersnake LIVE on national television, it makes me glad MTV won't be involved in the Super Bowl anymore. I felt for the children who were watching, and the parents who thought "What the hell is this?!?". Sad commentary on how shock value sells CDs these days.
