Anything by Duane Eddy
"My favorite instumental ever is either "Nocturne" or "Root Beer Rag" both by Billy Joel."
If we are talking popular music here, then I agree with this. I often play Nocturne (on the piano, I mean) for my own enjoyment.
"But that has lyrics. It IS awesome though! :D *stolls off chanting the word 'Sephiroth'*"
isn't it GREAT Dan ??!!
i know about the lyrics part it's in the original game soundtrack but if you own the piano collection you'll find an instrumental of One winged angel there.
First song that came in my mind
Tubular Bells - Mike Oldfield
Good that that one was first, else I had to agree with bob *g* because
La Villa Strangiato from Rush is a great 2nd one! :)
I nominate Metallica's 'Orion' and 'Call of the Ktulu' (symphonic version).
Van Halen's 'Eruption' and 'Spanish Fly', plus Zep's 'Moby dick' also deserve a mention on account of their sheer musical virtuosity, despite being somewhat masturbatory.
I quite like Black Sabbath's 'Fluff' too, if only for the surprise factor.
At the moment, its Face In The Crowd by Mansun (the magnificent Dominic Chad making his guitar sound very wierd). Procession is also up there by some obscure unknown band called Queen....
