for QUEEN? or FREDDIE????
????never reach to them ???
oh ...it's horrible!!!!!!
Hmm...let's see --
I saw Queen 13 times on different tours in the US (late 70s - early 80s)
Came within 50 feet of the whole group in the rear of the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA in 1977 -- and they looked so gorgeous then -- a group of friends screaming, "Freddie!! Freddie!" and Freddie (in those cool sunglasses) smiling and waving and saying, "Hello darlings!" before disappearing inside the theatre with the rest of the smiling and waving band...
Meeting Brian and Roger in 2001 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction) and getting to shake their hands TWICE and speaking with them for a too-brief five minutes...
Yep, I can truly say I've been there and done that! :-)
One of the friends in my group (seven of us) actually taped that encounter on Super 8 film (8mm camera). It was in black and white because we watched it to death once the film was developed! That friend moved to California and I even contacted his mum to see if he still had the footage (Thin Lizzy opened for Queen and they were on tape as well). She said he took it with him and I gave her my name and number...never did hear from him...but hopefully the film is still intact!
I'd love to see those pics from the RRHOF ceremony. Got a website or have you sent them to Jen Tunney? Spend the $1000 or so to watch the performance?
I was pissed no meet and greet was set up, so drove over to Cleveland to watch the live broadcast. That was fun (learned of the convention that night), but NYC must of been better.
After singing to Queen's music for over 30 years, mine is close but not close enough! I love to sing to the instrumentals and then listen to the full recording (with vocals) then sing along again.
It was fun getting the courage up to do Breakthru at the US convention (karaoke on opening night) then doing In My Defence in the talent show (I used the Instrumentals CD from the Solo Collection boxset). I had spent several months rehearsing and had a friend (who's a vocal coach) help me on projection. It worked!
