I read somewhere, may have been the bio on this site, that John got into surfing sometime during the 80s.
Is this true, and if so, are there pictures?

Ooh, hark at you!
Can't picture John on a surfboard.
And for that I am eternally grateful.
I'm sure he'd have a fabulous grin on his little face though, bless him!

Hey guys! John Deacon reporting in, as usual. There's fuck all going on in the Queen group, so we've all taken to doing our own things. Roger and Freddie are farting around in the studios, doing some really crappy material. Just the other day, I played bass on one of Freddie's songs - he'd wanted to do it himself, but we've all heard him play guitar before. God forbid he play bass.
Brian's off having affairs with soap opera stars, so I'm here, enjoying the clean-cut life of a simple bass player in a rock band. And by "here", I'm somewhere off the coast of the Bahamas, learning to surfboard. It's not easy, and the natives had to braid my hair as they were disgusted with its current look (they'd taken to calling me Pubic Head, which Veronica and the kids thought was hilarious) and said I resembled some kind of god of death or something. Who knows.
Anyway, as I'm in the Bahamas, I called Freddie about recording a song called 'Bahamian Rhapsody', but he said I must've hit my head on the surfboard one too many times or something. I think he's right.

LOL at Lester. You've got quite the sense of humor, man.
Ah, here it is. QZ bio, year 1981:
"*John discovers the art of surf boarding* and Roger the art of skiing. Roger is arrested and imprisoned in Monaco during the Grand Prix for being inebriated, along with Status Quo guitarist Rick Parfitt."
