Does anybody know the next Queen DVD except Queen - Greatest Video Hits 3 which I quite know that one is coming out. Maybe a concert??? or whatever...? |
FriedChicken 16.01.2004 16:26 |
If there will be a concert release i'm pretty sure it will be Budapest, or WWRY again. Brian said they were thinking of a Queen II DTS release. But i doubt if that will happen, since it's not commercial |
Tribbiani1982 16.01.2004 16:29 |
Don't you think, maybe there's gonna be a concert from the '70's ? Or early '80's ? And this Queen II DTS thing you said....is this a DVD-Audio release? Thanks! |
FriedChicken 16.01.2004 16:35 |
I doubt that we will ever see a complete concert on DVD from the 70s. Since QP think people aren't interested in the non-commercial stuff, and all we want is Break Free, and Radio Ga Ga. If i remember correctly they wanted to release Earls Court a few years ago, but they stopped that project. And i don't think it will be released on dvd, since there were a lot of problems with the lights and the sound during the show. Hammersmith 75 could be a possible DVD, but thats not really interesting, because you can already get great quality bootlegs. Rainbow 74 might be a good one, but if they release this please don't edit it, and don't edit the sound! It sounds horrible on the official video release from the box of trix (All the vocals were doubled) it sounded just awful. |
FriedChicken 16.01.2004 16:35 |
and yes, i was talking about an audio-dvd |
MexQueenFM 16.01.2004 16:46 |
well i hope they release something |

I hope they release something from the 70's. |
YourValentine 16.01.2004 17:43 |
Hammersmith 79 would be a good choice, too. |
Saffron Caribou 16.01.2004 18:49 |
Earls Court 77 :P Maybe Rainbow 74 |
Adam Baboolal 16.01.2004 19:28 |
But referring to Brian's QueenII response, he says, "Yeah. It’s nice to make a non-commercial decision." So, it's something he wants to do. Whether QP like it or not. Peace, Adam. |

If and when they decide to clean up Houston 1977 (US concert), that would be a treat! |

Fort Worth 77 |
Adam Baboolal 17.01.2004 09:58 |
Isn't the Houston concert really messy? Bad video and half-decent audio? From what I remember, I don't think there's much that could be done to fix the picture. Peace, Adam. |
Mayboy 17.01.2004 10:00 |
Hopefully they will release something :) could be Milton Keynes |
Ms.Lurex 17.01.2004 11:05 |
i would LOVE to see earls court released...aahhh that concert is just magical! i think my fav parts are doing alright, somebody to love, white queen, the medley, you take my breath away and death on two legs!! what an entrance with that song! so aggressive! wooohooooo! almost made me faint the first time i seen it! YOUUUUUUU SUCK MY BLOOD LIKE A LEACH! oh dear! |
Shane Jazz 17.01.2004 11:36 |
I also doubt Houston '77 can be released commercially, although that is my first choice of concerts that I want to see. Look at WWRY (fast) on the GVH1 DVD. Very grainy picture and mediocre audio. A shame, really. |

Daz85 17.01.2004 12:38 |
The last FC mag mentioned there are plans for both GVH3 and another live concert release. My guess would be Milton Keynes (in full please!). If they do release MK, and there isn't enough material to add a second disc, they could do a single audio CD of concert highlights :-) |
siljeoen 17.01.2004 14:44 |
i really hope so!! |
Tribbiani1982 17.01.2004 17:02 |
Well, I hope there's gonna be a concert DVD...and I hope a good one from the seventees! Cause if they do Live at Budapest 86, it will be the same music as Wembley Stadium. I wanna hear some other songs live.... I'm still hoping and praying.... :) |
NoOneButYou1975 17.01.2004 17:43 |
Cause if they do Live at Budapest 86, it will be the same music as Wembley Stadium. with Freddie doing the hungarian folk song that night in Budapest |

"with Freddie doing the hungarian folk song that night in Budapest" and minus Big Spender and Gimme some Loving |
Penis - Vagina 17.01.2004 21:39 |
"How many times this year have we had this discussion?" Not too many I wouldn't think, since we're only 17 days into it. ;) My choice would be... whatever makes you concert lovers the happiest. |
Plengel 18.01.2004 07:23 |
"Hammersmith 79 would be a good choice, too." I'd love to see a complete DVD release of that one too, Barb. But don't you think QP can get problems with that one if they try to release it. That gig was part of some charity work, right? Then again Queen were the only ones who played a full lenght gig for that charity. |
Cool Cat 18.01.2004 10:49 |
A concert would be cool, but what I'd really like to see is the Live Aid bit! I know they only did 20 minutes but can't they put that into a dvd with a different concert on it? Or make a whole dvd of it, with interviews, backstage ect ect? Or isn't there enough material to put it on dvd? |
Whatinthewhatthe? 18.01.2004 11:00 |
Houston '77 is smeary and choppy in some bits but the sound is excellent. Why QP hasn't considered releasing it is a mystery to me! With today's technology, it could be cleaned up, edited a bit and released. I wish I knew the reason for the hold on it and other concerts. Mannheim '86 isn't available yet, is it? |
deleted user 18.01.2004 11:25 |
Why does everybody want all this extra material on the 2nd disk?!! Why not another concert? :) Actually, I think they should release dvd boxes with Queen concerts, like: 74-76 (Rainbow, Hammersmith, Hyde Park, and some rare concerts we have never seen), 77-79 (Earls Court, Houston, Hammersmith, and more rare ones), 80-82 (This box will be the huge one, because in '82 all european tour concerts were prof. filmed, so they have a lot of rare material to put here... And of course I want to see Buenos Aires, Sao Paolo and Milton Keynes here too!), 84-85 (Uncut versions of both nights in Rio, uncut version of Japan concert, Live Aid, and more rare ones), 86-92 (Uncut Wembley first night, uncut Budapest, Knebworth Park, Freddie's last live performances, and the songs that were cut on the Freddie Tribute VHS and DVD, and maybe uncut Brian Brixton Academy...) So, what do you think? :) |
Adam Baboolal 18.01.2004 15:17 |
"With today's technology, it could be cleaned up" Pray tell, what miracle technology is this? Peace, Adam. |
Whatinthewhatthe? 18.01.2004 15:28 |
Why, computers and their magic, dear! Digital editing and transfer would be the answer. Frame by frame if need be, and it could improve things significantly. If Hollywood can restore silent movies to their original glory, then that aspect could be applied to older Queen concerts. (Example -- look how Giorgio Moroder had Metropolis cleaned-up and re-edited and added new music and BANG! a miracle.) |
Big_Spender 18.01.2004 18:15 |

Adam Baboolal 19.01.2004 00:17 |
Lisa, Lisa, Lisa... Do you know how much they paid to get those things restored?? Hundreds of thousands into MILLIONS. The reason those movies were restored was because they are very precious relics of the 20th century. Someone made sure they didn't disappear. I believe that Queen would never go that far for a simple concert release. Is it worth that much!? And to be honest, the footage could be cleaned up quite well. But it'll never look half as good as something like the WWRY dvd. If the detail from the source picture isn't there (i.e. faces on stage), you can't bring those back. I hate to use the, "can't polish a turd" technique, but the same principal is true. Peace, Adam. |
KevMull 19.01.2004 05:02 |
A box set spanning several years makes more sense and would be much more marketable than the odd 'obscure' release like Earls Court or Houstan. |
Whatinthewhatthe? 19.01.2004 13:13 |
I'm sure Brian and Roger could scrape together a few quid for that! (LOL) The silent films in question were restored because they were rapidly disintegrating (silver nitrate film stock simply crumbled into dust even when stored properly). Many, many films were lost because the technology wasn't there then. But not thay any of the Queen concert films are THAT old -- they can be fixed and turned into something that could turn a tidy profit for QP! (A write-in campaign could be the start of something big -- I might try contacting Brian to see if something like that could be possible!) |

Does anyone know whether professional STEREO audio exists for Milton Keynes? I ask because 'Staying Power' on GVHII is mono. |
D.Blythe 20.01.2004 01:28 |
I think a golden opportunity was missed when the Live Aid performance was not included on the Live At Wembley dvd. That would have been perfect. The Live Aid performance was only twenty minutes; it would have fit perfectly on the second disc as a record of Queen's previous appearance at Wembley. Anyway... I have suggested this before on this site, Queenonline, and to Brian's site; why not a small imprint label for special releases that may not appeal to the general public like the "Follow That Dream" imprint that BMG set up for Elvis Presley releases? They sell cds of sessions from various periods in his career with alternate versions, and soundboard recordings of concerts from the 70's. These albums may not appeal to the casual fan who is mainly interested in the greatest hits, but they are gold to the hardcore fan. Granted, these may not appeal to those who have completely gone over to MP3's, but to those of us who are still kickin' it old school with cds, it is an opportunity to own some rare tracks that are truly limited in release. Why not Queen? Do not tell me they are hording stuff for the carrot-on-a-stick boxed sets that are always just a "few months" from release. (And do not think those will be $$$$!) Elvis Presley Enterprises sells their collectors cds as well as myriad boxed sets. |
The Mir@cle 20.01.2004 02:49 |
I know that in februari the 46664 concert wil be released on DVD. Brain and Roger did a great job there. But indeed, it's time to release some old stuff too. "Why does everybody want all this extra material on the 2nd disk?!! Why not another concert?" I must say, I like that extra material. Maybe a 3th disk?? |
The Real Wizard 22.01.2004 03:11 |
"If i remember correctly they wanted to release Earls Court a few years ago, but they stopped that project. And i don't think it will be released on dvd, since there were a lot of problems with the lights and the sound during the show." And what about the second night at Earls Court? Killer Queen on Rare Live is crisp quality, and I'm hoping they've got that entire show safely stored in the vaults. "Does anyone know whether professional STEREO audio exists for Milton Keynes? I ask because 'Staying Power' on GVHII is mono." I have a true stereo soundboard recording of the first 15 minutes of the show; Flash intro, The Hero, WWRY fast, Play The Game, and Staying Power. It has the same running time of the video, but that was broadcast in mono sound back in 1983. I therefore have no clue where these tracks of mine came from. Since the version of Staying Power on the GVH2 DVD has mono sound, I can only conclude that they used the MTV source for the release. Because of this, I then conclude that Queen does not have the entire video in their archives, nor do they even have a stereo audio recording. If they did, then certainly they would have used the stereo source for this track on GVH2. If that's not true, then it was sheer stupidity on their part. In this digital age of 5.1 sound, you absolutely should not be releasing something in mono sound. I don't think Milton Keynes could be released in its entirety anyway, because Brian's patch cord fell out of guitar during his big solo! I don't think they would want to release something like that. But if they do, I'd love to finally see this moment. Right now, I'm severely doubting there are stereo recordings of Hammersmith 79, Earls Court 77 (both nights), and Houston 77. Every documentary or official release that features a song or two from these shows has the songs in mono sound. However, since Queen has no problem with releasing things on DVD with mono sound, this can very much widen the list of things that may be released on DVD, and can include these aforementioned shows. That is just in terms of audio, though. From what I've seen, the videos of the first night at Earls Court and Houston 77 have parts that are very dark, and could never be released. I'm talking about In The Lap Of The Gods from EC and My Melancholy Blues from Houston. The bootleg with 3 tracks from Rainbow 74 has stereo sound, but the vocal overdubs are still there. I really wonder if the unharmed soundboard recording is stashed away. I think the Rio 1-12-85 concert is the best candidate for the next official release. Budapest and Knebworth have almost identical tracklistings to Wembley, and Montreal 81 is out of the question. The definitive version has already been released. |

What about the concerts from Japan and Australia? |
Mr. Scully 22.01.2004 07:21 |
They told me they planned six DVD's. Original idea was Greatest Video Hits, Hits II and Wembley for mass market plus 3 concert DVD's for fans, that's what I understood. But if GH3 is coming out, maybe it means there will be less concert DVD's. |
YourValentine 22.01.2004 07:24 |
When you add the Freddie Tribute, it only leaves one more concert DVD. |
The Mir@cle 22.01.2004 08:10 |
I'm not afraid whe're not getting out DVD's. It will take some time but it will come. |
