No official announcements yet, but Bill Nighy ("Love, Actually", "State of Play", "The Lost Prince", "Underworld") has let it slip in an interview that he'll be playing the award-winning (for Norway) coastline designer Slartibartfast, with Martin Freeman ("The Office", "Charles II: The Power & The Passion", "Love, Actually") as Arthur Dent.
Best of all, however, while not-denying the story, Freeman's official website lets slip that the legendary Stephen Moore will be reprising his role as Marvin from the original Radio and Television productions!
Result!
What with the new radio serials starting next month, it's a good time to be into "Hitch-Hiker's".
That's good casting.
I still say only the first two volumes were worth reading though. The last two were duller than a stamp collecting Welsh cab driver.
I'm sure it'll be good, and hopefully not as fucking shit as Martin Freeman's 'comedy' Hardware. Granted, he didn't write it, Simon Nye did - now we know to be weary of the sitcoms which are "from the co-writer of -insert excellent sitcom here-". It's the old Lennon and McCartney routine - as soon as John Lennon died, McCartney became shit. Strange, no? It's probably teamwork, really.
But, really, Hardware was complete bollocks.
The Office wasn't much better. Only kidding, it's great!
Thank God. My dad said he'd heard somewhere that Hugh Grant of all the bollocksing wankers would be playing Arthur Dent.
Which would mean I could never see it.
Turns out that Stephen Moore isn't confirmed - he's in the running, and Martin Freeman's brother (who runs his website) put his casting down as fact for some reason best known to himself.
He'd better get it though... I mean, he has to play Marvin. Nobody else can.
