I finally got GVHII! A friend gave it to me for Xmas.
My favourite part where I really had to laugh all on my own here was that interview with Freddie in Brazil where he talks about "I want to break free".
1. right at the start the way the woman pronounces "Freddie" is just sooo Brazilian!!! No offence, I'd be the last one to say a bad thing about Brazilians but I think this accent is terrible! (But the German accent isn't better, really, is it?)
And she just didn't get a thing of what Freddie said!! The funniest bit when she asked about "leader of the group" for the second time and Freddie, after he had already explained that there is no leader, just said "yeah I am the leader of the group!"
Poor woman, she must have been so confused after that....
LOL
Yes that was great!
I myself rolled over from laughing just at the end of the making of Breakthru (which I had never seen before), when they are all standing in the tunnel and Freddie has the idea of running out of the tunnel. Just the bit where they actually do that and Freddie is saying (while running) "one two three Breaktru-u-u". It's just so Freddie!
That's a bit unfair to the lady concerned, as she is actually repeating her question and Freddie's answer in Portugese.
I do admit that it's a priceless moment though, showing how Freddie compensated his razor wit with a little compassion. He must have realized just in time that he was making a complete ass out of her!
......and in the Breakthru interviews again when Brian is like: Not the tunnel, anything but the tunnel! I love it- I love it all!
Crazy- but hilarious guys they are!
I always lose it when the Japanese (?) people are interviewing Brian, Roger and John (who sadly didn't get a bouquet of flowers -- why was that, and where was Freddie??) for a television show and kept saying, "Naanaa, naanaa" ("yes" in Japanese?) after every answer from the group, sounding like bloody sheep! Look at the group's faces, especially Roger -- it's a wonder he didn't bust out laughing (though he tried terribly hard to keep his composure and won!). The looks on their faces keep me in stitches!
I found this quiz on "The Magic Years" which includes a question about THE South Korea interview. I did ok and got 22 out of 25 right. I'm sure many will do better ... link
Lisa, THAT is the funniest thing ever!
And when Roger was asked about the singer of the Dire Straits in a Quiz Show and he didn't know it or something like that.
Or he confused Mark Knopfler and his brother and he couldn't even pronounce "Knopfler" correctly or first said "Noffler" and then in a very funny way "Nopp-fler". Also funny! :-)
Sonja, I wondered if Roger had done an all-nighter before he taped that show, because he looked really vacant and acted like he wished he were elsewhere! I mean, how embarassing to forget people in Dire Straits! (heeheehee) Wonder if he ever was questioned, "Isn't there a drummer named Roger Taylor in Duran Duran?" He probably would have blown a fuse!!
Yes, funny, indeed. LOL
And, well, the poor Gloria Maria (that's her name) was only repeating the question in Portuguese. In the version shown on tv, she would ask him in Portuguese and he would answer in English, dubbed to Portuguese.
Gloria has never left the screen, and is very high in her carrer right now. She is the co-host of the biggest tv program in Brazil, Fantastico. I would say more than a hundred million people see the show she hosts every sunday. (yeah, 100.000.000 people!)
Well, enough useless information for now. :)
Cheers,
Ogre-
My favorite funny part of the disc is how they played that big joke on the whole band by making them look very fat in A Kind of Magic. They squeezed the video way down. It's hilarious! I still prefer the original though. Thank goodness from Brazilian DVDs :)
Yeah I remember that programme. My parents used to watch it on Sundays. I didn't know it was still running.
So that reporter's really big there? Cool! Well, she seemed confused back then when she interviewed Freddie... but, to be honest, who wouldn't??? LOL
PS: Here in Germany there's a programme called "Galileo" by the way....
Galileo!!! What a great name for a show!!! And that made my silly brain understand what had been said before about the name Magnifico being ok! Doh! :)
