It's been out for 12 years so I thought I'd ask. When it came out, I bought it and promptly returned it for having an edited version of "I Want It All".
This edit can be heard in the sample at cduniverse.com.
I've heard that too, but thought things might have changed in all this time. I really like that 12" version of Scandal, but I can't stand the thought of the main album being tampered with.
Jeffrey, do you have the original Capitol Records release or the Hollywood Records one? I have a promo copy of the former and the original version is there. Later versions were edited and an additional song, the 12" version of Scandal, was added. I much prefer the sound on the Capitol Records version!! (And the Japanese digital remastered version -- heaven!)
What is this about the "Miracle" album being edited? I have never heard about this. I have heard versions of "I Want It All" with the drum/guitar solo in the middle edited out; is this what is in question? My Hollywood cd includes the drum/guitar solo and it has the 12" mix of "Scandal". Would someone explain exactly what the edit in question is?
That site has some very good information and it's fun to browse through. It just hasn't been updated since like 1999 apparently :)
So, RainMustFall... are you sure yours is okay, or did you just not notice? LOL.
We have no places around here where you can listen to new discs before buying anymore.. Blockbuster used to do that, but they got out of the music biz here.
I already have the Capitol version, which is the same as U.K. (13 tracks). It's fine..
But I do like the 12" mix of Scandal that the Hollywood version adds, so I was considering giving it another shot and wanted to know if anyone has a more recent copy and if they've corrected their mistake.
Sure, I could just accept the edit and have my beloved Scandal remix on CD, but it bugs the heck out of me to have something that's not right as a whole. LOL
If you have the Box of Tricks, there is a CD included with all of the other goodies that has just the 12" remixes...all except Scandal (dammit! LOL). I really treasure that because I have all the 12" versions on vinyl and haven't gotten around to buying the software to convert vinyl to CD yet and it gets me by for now...
(soon, very soon!)
Is the Scandal remix a rocker or is it keyboard/dance oriented? I have the original Capitol release from 1989. WHich has Hang On in There, Chinese Torture, & Invisible Man remix which is annoying. Is it worth picking up a new CD for the Scandal remix?
It's like Scandal restructured--if it was anything, its slightly more dance-sounding, but definately not enough to be put in that catagory. I actually prefer the remix a little bit better...
It's not as wild and 'effecty' as The Invisible Man 12". I can't say whether to buy another copy of the disc just for that.. I'd certainly recommend downloading it first to see ;)
Since there's debate over whether Hollywood has fixed their error, and you already own the original, this is what I'd call a clear case of a valid download to sample it.
I'm gonna buy the Hollywood disc again so I can have it in full CD quality. I Want it All is probably still edited, but whatever.. I know Disney can use the extra cash.
Jeffrey, have you brought it to Hollywood Records' attention? I think their website has a contact link and it may be worth mentioning because I hate the edited version as much as everyone else and they just may correct the problem with a little nudge...
Yeah, I tried the online method a few years back, no response. Years ago I got responses by physically writing to them though.. I suppose that's worth another try ;)
Got their phone number somewhere but it's a toll number and I don't do toll calls.
