Hi everyone
I recently bought a Queen book in a second hand bookshop and would appreciate it if one of the experts here could tell me any info they have on it, and if it is rare or not.
The book is hardbacked, simply called "Queen", and at the bottom of the cover says "FELDMAN distributed by EMI Music Publishing Ltd" ect...
This book was released in 1974 according to the inside cover, which really surprised me, as I wouldnt have thought queen were well enough know in 1974 to have any books written about them!
The book starts off with a paragraph about queen, reading like a promo of a band that no one has heard yet...the next page has a bio on roger, and a bio on john...apparently roger likes "Sheep wrestling and cat breeding"...
The rest of the book is sheet music, starting with keep yourslef alive and ending in white queen...
So, any ideas anyone?
It's an early Sheet music book, compiled from the first two albums. If it's the one I think it is, the paperback version was still available not so long ago.
It includes the band's publicity info from the time - favourite food, favourite colour etc.
Roger's ambition is "to go Super Nova"
Brian's is "to be a penguin when he grows up"
That the one?
Aye PG, thats the one.
I just thought because of its age it might have been worth something, maybe more than the £2.50 I paid for it anyway. I wouldnt have thought there were many 30-year-old books on queen available.
I wonder if you have to buy a separate book to find out what going 'Super Nova' actually fucking means...
Thanks for the info.
Isn't it what happens when a star explodes in a certain way?
There's never an astronomer around when you need one.
As for the book's value, well it has been reprinted an awful lot, and Queen fans don't seem to be sticklers for "first editions" - we're all about content. It's still worth more than you paid for it, but don't plan to retire just yet.
Well, I am an amateur astronomer (of sorts) and I can indeed confirm that a 'supernova' is the term used to describe the event in which a very massive star explodes after exhausting it's fuel supply (and having turned it's core to iron in the process).

Stuff and nonsense. Going super-nova is what the Human Torch does whenever the Fantastic Four are threatened by...let's say, Dr Doom.
Exploding star indeed. What are universities teaching you young people these days...
