Anyone got their advance tickets yet? Now that we're on the LOTR topic. 'As It Began' reveals that Brian is a big fan of Tolkien and the LOTR books. Has anyone seen Mr. May at any of the LOTR premieres? |

I'm going to see all three of them tomorrow. I've been waiting so long for this moment. It's even more exciting then a new Queen album (no, greatest hits and all don't count, I mean studio albums) being released! I think Brian attended the first premiere in London. I might be wrong though ;) |
Mr Coolest Cat 15.12.2003 10:12 |
Willem, what do you want to be when you grow up. |
willem-jan 8923 15.12.2003 11:10 |
At the moment I'm working as a PhD student on Eindhoven University of Technology, so I guess I'll end up quiet allright. What are you doing to make a living..... |
Under Pressure 15.12.2003 11:41 |
I have midnight tickets for tomorrow night. Should be fun. But I hate Orlando and don't like Elijah. |
Daburcor? 15.12.2003 14:15 |
I'm super excited about this movie! The first two were SO good! |
deleted user 15.12.2003 14:30 |
Yup! I have tickets for the 7pm show on thursday evening. I'm a total movie buff, so this is just excitement overload for me. I love LOTR!! Yet, I tried reading the books and could just not get through them! I'm a big reader too and love adventure stories, but felt that the movie captured the excitement of the story better than the books, which is very unusual. Are there any fans of the books out there? |
wstüssyb 15.12.2003 15:11 |
I was going to go, but found out it is 3 hours and 31 min long there is no way I could sit in a seat that long |
Sir Archie 'Tiffany' Leach 15.12.2003 15:26 |
Youth of today! You wouldn't credit it would you. Prefer the films to the book and yet they haven't bothered to read the whole damn thing. This country. |
^wicked^ 15.12.2003 15:27 |
My boyfriend just told me that he has gotten us tickets for Tuesday at midnight (technically Wednesday). Very exciting! |
willem-jan 8923 15.12.2003 16:14 |
I read the LOTR books 4 times now, hobbit 2 times, silmarillion 1 time, and now I'm reading Unfinished tales of Numenor and Middle Earth. And I'm planning to go for the whole History of Middle Earth (12 times 500 pages). So I do consider myself as a fan of the books yes :D |
Saffron Caribou 15.12.2003 16:15 |
Going to the first screening on Weds, hopefully. If we arrive early, and grab some tickets :) |
deleted user 15.12.2003 16:23 |
heh. I'm not that young!! lol. But I think if I'm in the middle of the second book and still am not really into it, I need to stop reading! I really really wanted to like them (I did love the Hobbit though). It is very rare that I like a film better than the book. |
Matti 15.12.2003 18:11 |
I have a nice picture of the guy who plays Aragorn in my profile. Lol. |

....must....resist..tempation...to...spoil..the whole...movie....argh |
dragonzflame 16.12.2003 23:03 |
The books are boring boring boring. (I really wanted to like them too but that turned out to be a struggle.) And I can't remember a thing about the second movie. So I hope that when I see ROTK I don't waste that 3 1/2 hours I'll never be getting back... |
deleted user 16.12.2003 23:31 |
So no one here went to the 12 hour marathon LOTR viewings today?? I'm a fan, but I don't think I'd have the attention span to sit through all three movies back-to-back. |
siljeoen 17.12.2003 03:09 |
The Return of the King was amazing!!:D |
Dances With Freddie 17.12.2003 03:14 |
I loved it! the end was so beautiful! |
Daburcor? 17.12.2003 03:55 |
That movie was GODLY! I can't wait to go see it again!!!! |
willem-jan 8923 17.12.2003 07:03 |
I've seen all three of them in a row. Absolutely overwhelming. ROTK is my favourite allready. And I'm going to see this movie at least 1 more time in the theater. Absolutely amazing. |
geeksandgeeks 17.12.2003 16:23 |
Is the end as sappy as the ending in the book? If so, I may pass...nah. |
willem-jan 8923 18.12.2003 06:25 |
Even sappier I would say. But even though it is rather sappy, it really fits in the story. But just go and see the movie, even for the nice scenery it's worth every euro. |
siljeoen 18.12.2003 07:04 |
it's so beautiful!.. |
Dances With Freddie 18.12.2003 07:07 |
.........I started to sob. :) |
willem-jan 8923 18.12.2003 08:35 |
I think most people did ;) |
geeksandgeeks 18.12.2003 16:03 |
If the ending was sappier than in the book, I don't know if I'll be able to handle it. ;) I'm allergic to reuniting scenes ;D |
Mr.Jingles 19.12.2003 00:17 |
Just came back from seeing it God I loved this movie so much, and I'm not such a big fan as other people. The end is a little sappy but it fits the story well. Now I'm gonna try to sleep (if I can). I'm extremely arachnophobic and watching that giant spider gave me the creeps. Hope I won't have nightmares. |
willem-jan 8923 19.12.2003 02:35 |
"If the ending was sappier than in the book, I don't know if I'll be able to handle it. ;)" Believe me, it's way sappier!!! That doesn't mean it sucks though :D |
geeksandgeeks 23.12.2003 15:19 |
Okay, I finally saw it. Oh man. That was one of the cheesier thigns I have ever sat through. In the scne where they're all jumping around the bed, I was biting my lips trying not to laugh. And when Frodo had to leave, I think I was one of three or four not sobbing. All in all, not too bad. What's killing me is that I live in a rather conservative area, and there's a bunch of psycho people now trumpeting about boycotts, because: -Frodo and Sam must be gay -Merry and Pippin must be gay FOLKS! What is WRONG with you people!? |
deleted user 23.12.2003 15:51 |
Geeks, you have got to be kidding me! People want to boycott, or ban the movie in your area???!!! What a bunch of rejects. I felt the movie was good, but too many things bothered me. Like when Aragorn was riding his horse before the 'big' battle. It was way too Braveheart-ish for me. And the ending was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to long. I don't think it was needed. I didn't cry, or even feel moved. But I had an asshole behind me talking throught the entire thing, and some dumb bastard infront of me that had his seat pushed so far back my legs were pushed up into my chest. Inconsiderate people suck. I wanted to turn around and smack the bastard and his fat ass wife on the face, and pull hair on the guy in front of me. Shit you pay 8 bucks for a movie. You should enjoy it without the jerks that ruin it. |
Mr.Jingles 23.12.2003 15:57 |
<< Frodo and Sam must be gay >> How many of you guys didn't think that Frodo and Sam kinda seemed like a very interesting gay couple? I feel sorry for you Mandy. There must be lots of Jerry Falwell type of homophobic freaks down there. I remember that when 'Finding Nemo' came out, those same fuckin' conservative idiots wanted parents to boycott the film because Ellen DeGeneres was the voice of Dory the fish. For those who don't know her, Ellen is a famous comedian in America who is openly gay. |
-fatty- 2850 23.12.2003 16:14 |
I think I'll wait until the fourth film comes out next year then I'll watch them all back to back. fatty. |
Daburcor? 23.12.2003 21:02 |
"How many of you guys didn't think that Frodo and Sam kinda seemed like a very interesting gay couple?" I never thought of them as gay. People can't see that when two males or felames are close it doesn't automatically make them gay. Get a grip on reality people! And so what if they WERE gay?! Ugh...Stupid people... |
geeksandgeeks 26.12.2003 21:09 |
Dan, Dan, and Matt - you don't know half of it. My school's library is the worst. Stephen King is corrupt and immoral, but Tim LaHaye is perfectly fine! Whatever the case, yeah, the people around here do not understand the concept of two + males who love each other without it being sexual. I still remember when one of my best friends had the nerve to (at school) hug another of his friends. He got shitted on. |
Queenleaf 29.12.2003 14:12 |
I saw it yesterday... kinda late but considering it is the fourth movie I have seen in my life, not too bad. It was awesome. I am one of your normal everyday Legolas teen fans. He's hott! I have been a fan of LOTR since I was 7 and my mom started reading me the Hobbit. I have read the hobbit maybe 5-7 times and the rest 4 or 5 times. I love the movies and ithink ROTK is my favorite. ps now you know why my name is Queenleaf (Legolas Greenleaf) |
geeksandgeeks 29.12.2003 20:19 |
Oh God - NOT Orlando again! Sorry Queenleaf ;) Checked out the movie on IMDb, and must say that I'd have never recognized Billy Boyd if I hadn't found out it was him. |
Queenleaf 31.12.2003 14:46 |
Ive watched few enough movies to not know who billy boyd was before. However I do appreciate his performance very much! |
