There you have it, cmon people tell us what you think it was are the worst things that 'Queen' did in 2003 for you. ;) I can only think of is the whole 46664 fiasco. And Brian's ramblings about downloads. |
Banquo 13.12.2003 01:22 |
I agree, from the man who owns countless bootlegs (by his own admission) it was a bit daft. |

Don't know.... Probably the recording with Britney?! Cos I can't stand her... |
Wayne Gretzky 13.12.2003 04:28 |
Yeah, recording with Britney. |

FriedChicken 14.12.2003 12:01 |
they did a retake of WWRY for a pepsi commercial with Britney, Beyonce and Pink |
Ron 14.12.2003 14:47 |
This whole year was like "oh no! why!!?" Everytime when I heard some Queen news I thought that. |
7Innuendo7 14.12.2003 15:05 |
The whole Pepsi/Beyonce/Pinq/Britney situation is problematic, especially since the whole premise of the WWRY musical is a rebellion against prepackaged music -- the kind of music for which Britney is THE poster child. Oh wait, then there was the photo op with Avril Lavigne. At least Avril confesses to ripping off punk music and not even owning a Ramones album. However, The Darkness news does make up for all that, IMHO. I believe in a thing called The Darkness! |
Pim Derks 14.12.2003 15:32 |
"This whole year was like "oh no! why!!?" Everytime when I heard some Queen news I thought that." Indeed. The only news which I really liked was the full Wembley show on DVD and the new Call/IH/SINT tracks without a lot of stupid guestvocalists. |
Penetration_Guru 14.12.2003 18:57 |
The symphony was 2002, the pepsi thing is 2004 (I'm assuming it's for the Superbowl slot, which means all you Yanks complaining about "never getting to see these ads" will make your money back). I think falling out with your own fanbase is probably a low point. Especially to do so twice. If you want me to be less controversial, then the continuing exploitation of the worldwide Queen fanbase by the overcharging on the QOL shop site has to be a continuing outrage. |
Saffron Caribou 14.12.2003 19:32 |
P_G I too think that the Britney/Pink/Rog/Bri advert is going to be aired during the Superbowl, I know it. Britney and Pink both need the publicity because their albums are falling in the charts, esp. Pink's album. |
Mr.Jingles 14.12.2003 21:20 |
I know a lot of people are going to get mad by this comment... The WORST thing about Queen, are those fans who constantly bash the band and unfairly criticize them. Now, I can use an old quote Mandy (geeksandgeeks) used to say... MrJingle79 now will duck as thousands of objects fly in his direction. I'm sure I just said something that pissed someone off. |

Mr.Jingles 15.12.2003 01:32 |
Geez... what's the big deal about 46664?? I thought it was an excellent project, and they did 3 fantastic all brand new Queen songs... "The Call", "Invincible Hope", and "Say It's Not True". Something we haven't seen since "No One But You". And about the whole "parasite" thing... Well if you have felt personally insulted by Mr May then it's probably because in your own conscience you are one. The only bad things that I found about 46664 had nothing to be with Queen... - Not enough support and lack of media exposure to make the project as successful as it should have been. - Bono and Beyonce taking all the credit for a project started by Queen and Dave Stewart. |

It could have been better though. Most re-arrangements sound great, but what doesn't sound so good is how songs that are totally different are part of the same track. Putting TSMGO and Radio Ga-Ga together just couldn't sound right. |

Queen in 2003? Oh you mean indvidually! When are people going to wise up and quit calling Brian and Roger, Queen. It shows a complete stupidity on the part of the person who identifies half of Queen as Queen. For Brian and Roger, it's a commercial decision. For those who repeat it, it's an unintelligent decision. My question is this, did Brian and Roger do anything great in 2003? I know they insist on becoming theatre moguls and doing benefit shows that aren't even worth a free download. What a waste of talent. This would be like Van Gogh trying to be a carpenter or Michael Jordan trying to play Baseball. It's such a waste of fine musical talent. Why can't they just continue on with their solo careers or merge together under the Taylor/May or May/Taylor flag and do what they were meant to do. They are pissing away their older years by undertaking endeavors best left to others. Obviously it's their business what they do, not mine but I sure wish "We Will Rock You" the musical would fade away into oblivion so that they can move on to bigger and better things. Screw Nelson Mandela(not really but sort of), Screw 5ive, Screw Robbie Williams, and especially SCREW BEN "FREAKING I wrote the stupidest sounding play ever" ELTON! Come back Brian, come back Roger, you are musical gods, ignore all the other shit. WRITE!! Continue your legacy and ditch this side crap before you guys really do get old. It's not too late. There, I have bitched it out and I feel better. |
Rich Tea 28.12.2003 16:02 |
Some people do write some crap on here! If Brian & Roger want to be known as Queen & We want to call them Queen we don't need some prick telling us we are stupid! The worst of Queen this year well not enough of them doing new stuff 46664 was a start lets hope for more. I think its about time they stopped recording WWRY with anyone who can sing! Overall though the only downside to being a Queen follower at the moment is having to read shite like the post above! 50% Groups! QUEEN The WHO ROLLING STONES MOTORHEAD GUNS & ROSES Not a bad line up for starters is it! |
Saffron Caribou 28.12.2003 16:33 |
I WROTE the subject header as Queen because SOME here consider Brian and Roger as Queen and to avoid further arguements, again, about this, Queen vs Queen +, subject I decided to post it just as Queen. To each their own opinion of what is "Queen" now. I'll stick to my ideal of the original Queen, and not the musical/pepsi advert/pop-collaboration ditrabe that "Queen +" is now. Take it how thy wilt. |
Ogre_Battle 29.12.2003 10:04 |
Hey Rich Tea, go kill yourself! It is stupid to call a Freddie-less band Queen, it defeats the whole purpose. The Rolling Stones are still the Rolling Stones because they have the essential members. As long as Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are still running the show, it's the Stones. Guns N' Roses is a complete joke, they arent' 50%, they are 20% now. Only Axl. Very stupid indeed. Not only is Freddie irreplaceable but they haven't even attempted to replace either him or John Deacon. They are no longer the true sense of Queen and have been trying to capitalize for awhile now on their name while they still do their thing. For them to call themselves Queen is a commercial decision. For you to, shows your, yes, stupidity! Get over it! Quit dreaming that they will be Queen, because you call them that. Or, keep calling them Queen and those of us with true respect for the band that ended November '91 will keep laughing at you from our computers. |

Hello. I have a few questions. I didnt know Queen were doing Pepsi commercials. Was it ever even released? what was the project Beyonce and Bono took all the credit for? and finally.....why did brian may diss his fans? was it in an interview? Thanks Peace out |

I didnt know Queen were doing Pepsi commercials. Was it ever even released? the commercial will be shown for the first time in March i believe what was the project Beyonce and Bono took all the credit for? 46664. Beyonce and Bono got all the credits from the media while they weren't involved in setting up the concert at all. and finally.....why did brian may diss his fans? was it in an interview? He didn't diss his fans, he was mad at the people who downloaded the 46664 mp3s for free, or uploaded them to the internet. But i guess he said this because he was a bit pissed off at the media for giving all the credits to Bono and Beyonce |

Go kill myself eh - ooo I'm bricking it here LOL While I admire your morals you need to realise that Brian & Roger have every right to call themselves Queen, Queen + or whatever they like and I for one will SUPPORT them either way because they are great musicians and have along with a few others provided the soundtrack to my life. Now as for you Mr. Battle I am glad they are taking no notice of you but obviously I am not surprised LIFE GOES ON and THE SHOW MUST GO ON Get a life arse hole! lol Respect it's Rock N Roll not high school jeeeeeeeees |
Penis - Vagina 29.12.2003 15:52 |
This symphony idea is brilliant.. if they could just create one without adding vocals! I'd love to hear a truly instrumental symphony of Queen music, but next time, leave out the vocals. At that point, it just becomes a really bad cover version, you know? ;) |
inu-liger 29.12.2003 15:58 |
Ogre_Battle, you are an arse of a moron. It is up to Brian and Roger themselves if they want to call themselves "Queen" or not. That is not your decision, arsewipe. Suppose you started a band called "Ogre", with 3 other members. Over the years, two of your members either die or retire, and you and that other person were otherwise "Ogre". Would YOU still call yourself "Ogre" despite having only two original members, one being you, of the original lineup? |
Rich Tea 29.12.2003 17:18 |
Brian May & Roger Taylor defined the "Queen Sound" as much as Freddie and John they can call themselves what they like. Queen are progressing I have no problem with people saying they don't like what Queen are doing now, music is all about personnal taste & opinion but I for one would love to see Queen tour again playing a full set with or without a main singer admittedly I would prefer a Rock Show, to a karoke type play the hits pop show but the chance to take part in a Queen gig again would be brilliant. Of course it won't be the same but it would be a million times better than no show at all. I defy anyone who was at the FM tribute to say they didn't enjoy it and that they didn't cry at the end! Freddies dead LONG LIVE QUEEN! |
MercuryArts 29.12.2003 18:23 |
Ogre Battle:Hey Rich Tea, go kill yourself! How can you say that to anyone especailly during the holiday season? What kind of a person are you? Not much bothers me, but damn dude that was harsh & completely uncalled for. All this call it Queen/don't call it Queen debate is simply BS! Let em do what they want. If they tour are you going to not see them? Based on what you told Rich Tea, I hope you don't. You don't deserve the privilege of seeing them perform live. Here's $20, JC Penneys is having a sale on life. I suggust you go by one! |
Ogre_Battle 03.01.2004 12:21 |
It's called a messageboard. DAMN people, wake up. How can people take offense on a message board? You don't know me, I don't know you. The internet is completely non-personal. Instead of getting hurt or upset that Rich Tea made his negative comments towards me, I told him to kill himself. I doubt he gives a rat's ass, I know I don't. And for those of you who can't read, I never said Brian and Roger didn't have a right to call themselves Queen. I just said that it's a purely commercial decision on their parts and that it should be recognized as such. For them to say they are Queen makes sense because they are trying to make money. I'm just saying, they're not. And if Freddie and Deacon were continuing on because Brian died and Roger retired, I would be saying the exact same thing. To call them Queen without Freddie, shows a psychological weakness. Let go, wake up, realize they are not Queen and move on with your lives. Or, keep calling them Queen. Go ahead and pretend. This world is full of pretenders. Go pretend that Jesus will save you, that Brian and Roger are Queen. Go see them belt out a concert as Queen with female background vocalists and the ususal track list of: Tie Your Mother Down, Radio Ga Ga, We Will Rock You. Pretend that it's still Queen, pretend that it's still good. Pretend away, enjoy fantasy land. |
Ogre_Battle 03.01.2004 12:25 |
Oh, and for the record, not that it matters in the slightest but I wish no ill-will or harm to any of the messageboard people. It's called sarcasm. You are all internet people to me as I am to you. |
Tommy 03.01.2004 12:38 |
That Brian May has been in the media a lot. That dweeb is only looking for attention and PR. That was what the whole "46664" crap show was all about too, Brian just advertising himself. |
Killer Queen .45 03.01.2004 20:43 |
Why the worst of? Why not the best of? I reckon that goes to the GVH2 advert. Though I've not actually seen it on TV. |
Rich Tea 04.01.2004 05:28 |
Mr Battle sir you are entitled to your opinion and I to mine. I called you a prick you told me to kill myself! No offence taken you are right as far as being on a message board is concerned we all do tend to hide behind our screens but I'm afraid I disagree with you on everything else but hey thats life it would be a boring world if we all agreed! Happy New Year matey! |
*goodco* 12.01.2004 11:30 |
The best would be the idea and monies raised for the '46664' project and the new tunes that resulted from this. Along with a DVD if that's still in the works. The 2nd worst: Brian's 'parasite' comments. He was on the mark, but the aim was slightly off. Mr. Bulsara's death is the saddest. Footnote: We loved the WOF ceremony and concert. Seeing the crest on the drum kit, and the boys on stage, well....I saw the band with Mott in '74, Detroit in 82 was the last time I attended a 'Queen' concert, but the electricity was just as high in October 2002. I don't agree with much of the Queen+ stuff, but that's all out the door when Brian and Roger take the stage together. |
Mr.Jingles 12.01.2004 12:44 |
For the love of God, why is everybody getting so pissed off here and wishing death upon themselves. I think Ogre Battle should lighten up a bit and chill out, man. You guys have the right to give your opinion, but from there to tell people to kill themselves, that's crossing the line. I for once still respect Brian and Roger for what they are doing. I still have my doubts about if they should still use the name Queen, but they have the right to use it, don't they? I know a lot of people here would say that Robert Plant and Jimmy Page didn't use the name Led Zeppelin when they recorded together again in the mid 90s. Sure, they could have used it if they wanted, but they didn't because they didn't feel like Led Zeppelin. I'm sure that they would have gotten a lot more attention if they decided to use the Led Zeppelin name, but then they would have been strongly criticized by part of their fanbase, just like we're doing with Queen right now. |
