It must be a blue moon tonight, because I've decided to start a topic here. The sole purpose of this topic is for me to declare that for me perhaps the finest moment Queen ever comitted to tape is to be found between 3:26 and 4:06 on White Queen. It gets me every single bloody time. What a climax! Bri may not know his parasites from his fans, but the man definitely knows (or did know) how to build a song and a guitar part. I urge you all to go and listen to this bit now, and I dare you to deny the utter brilliance of it. |
Penetration_Guru 05.12.2003 18:59 |
Not disagreeing, but the climax of WATC is the one for me.... |
Josuè 05.12.2003 19:05 |
It's the best part of the song. |
MexQueenFM 05.12.2003 19:54 |
yep, great part |
Saint Jiub 05.12.2003 20:30 |
I love White Queen live, but don't find the studio version to be special. The interaction of Fredie's piano and Brian's guitar is amazing. |
wstüssyb 05.12.2003 22:27 |
the guitar solo slide in Radio Ga Ga in Knebworth =-) |
Brian_Mays_Wig 06.12.2003 02:31 |
The Orchestra in Was It All Worth It..... ddddd Inspector Gadget, ddddd dd! |
PD. 06.12.2003 02:46 |
- The opening guitar chords on One Vision. - The intro of Don't Stop Me Now. What a voice! - The climax in Under Pressure. - The "waterfall"-like delay guitar harmonies in Brighton Rock on Live Killers. - The grand finale of "The Hero" - it always makes me wish I would sing that in a big choir. - the guitar solo of Coming Soon - Intro of Breakthrou From Freddie: - the early version of Golden Boy: that crescendo vocal part in the intro. From Brian: the album intro of "...Light" |
Banquo 06.12.2003 03:54 |
The guitar solo in It's A Hard Life. The last Verse of A Winter's Tale "It's all so beautiful" "Your're staring at me, with suspicion in your eyes" The last 40 seconds of Good Company "Sock it to 'em Rog" I could go on. |
Rien 06.12.2003 04:18 |
Perhaps (all or) a great deal of songs will have their best 40 seconds in them, but what first comes to mind for me is the start of Bohemian Rhapsody and it's operatic part, and the start of Death On Two Legs. |
Banquo 06.12.2003 04:20 |
Perhaps it post 46664 fever but Say it Ain't True is a fine song and deserves to be on Jim Beach's Money making scheme, sorry I mean Greatest Video Hits III. |
Bohardy 06.12.2003 05:02 |
Good call with the last 40 seconds of Good Company Banquers. That's definitely up there with the bit I mention in White Queen, but the enjoyment you get from the end of Good Company is more to do with appreciating how clever Brian is, and wryly smiling to yourself at the cheek of the man to create such a great sounding little dixie-band out of his guitar. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this bit, it just doesn't hit you in the gut and heart like my bit from White Queen does. |
Banquo 06.12.2003 05:07 |
I do like most Queen fans prefer the live version of White Queen the interaction between Freddie and Brian is brilliant. But Good Company, and I do hope Brian reads this, is absolute genius and it all comes from talent, a guitar made from a fireplace and an amp which was built by the bass-player from bits he found in a skip. You couldn't script that if you tried. |
Red_Special 06.12.2003 08:09 |
I can't make up my mind, but the guitar solo in It's A Hard Life is a masterpiece. And Good Company! Yes he's a genius! Oh, and the Brighton Rock solo, when played live, is something incredible. I know that most of you find his 14 mins solos boring, but I really love them! |
FriedChicken 06.12.2003 09:01 |
ah yeah, i think the big band outro of Good Company is just brilliant |
Sebastian 06.12.2003 09:15 |
The climax of Black Queen before "voice from behind" is just wonderful: those fast octave bass scales in the piano, at the same time guitar is doing fills, brian plays tubular bells and a lot of Freddie's are screaming. Awesome. |
FriedChicken 06.12.2003 09:36 |
I also love the part you mentioned. It reminds me a lot of Ogre Battle and Death on Two Legs. A lot of loud music and screams and then suddenly silence and soft vocals |
Sebastian 06.12.2003 09:40 |
Millionaire Waltz also has that abrupt 'A Day In The Life-like' arrangement simplification. I just love it |
anillusion 06.12.2003 09:40 |
Who is black queen? I would like to hear the screams during her climax. I'll bet that is a great forty seconds. (my apologies for being a smart ass on this topic, but I could not help myself) seriously....any live ending of WATC....just because of the memories of being there in person so many times |
FriedChicken 06.12.2003 09:49 |
I start to believe in all those theories about promoting the WWRY musical. And if those theories are right, that means the Black Queen in the song March Of The Black Queen, is the black lady who plays Killer Queen in the musical |
Mercuryking 06.12.2003 10:50 |
mine is from "My Soul Is Painted like the wings of butterflies " to " I'll Face it with a grin , im never giving in , on with the show". |
Dicky Heart 06.12.2003 11:10 |
Hello!, I think Brian's solo in The Prophet's Song really rocks!! BTW.. I'm new over here... if there's anyone who has got almost the same username as i do.. please contact me and i will change my name |
L-R-TIGER1994 06.12.2003 12:04 |
The 40 seconds of "I can take you". |
Pim Derks 06.12.2003 13:05 |
"The 40 seconds of "I can take you"." You've got to be kidding, you really think that's the finest 40 Queen seconds ever? |
Lester Burnham 06.12.2003 13:14 |
Considering the most widely available tape of 'I Can Take You' is 40 seconds long, I'd say it was just a (pretty funny) joke. |
FriedChicken 06.12.2003 13:20 |
and it's not even 40 seconds of Queen |
wstüssyb 06.12.2003 14:05 |
we just have to agree the best 40 seconds was when they lost thier virginty |
Rich Tea 06.12.2003 14:11 |
White Queen is a pretty awesome track but I guess there are so many 40 second Queen sound bites we all love! We could construct our ultimate Queen song lasting say 5 minutes comprising of: an intro 4 Verses Guitar Solo Outro all from different tracks now that would be interesting!?? |
sexmachine 06.12.2003 14:41 |
mercurysingeroflife i'm absolutely your opinion, this part says so much about it all.it's a quintessence. |
goinback 06.12.2003 22:30 |
I love the (several) climaxes right after the vocals section of "The Prophet's Song". Especially when they get to "Aaaahhhh...." (guitar echoes it) "....children of the land." It's just mixed absolutely perfectly, at least on my Hollywood (ahem) CD. I kept playing those few seconds over and over in my car not too long ago hehe Also the part on Live Killers where the crowd is begging for more and then Brian starts "Tie Your Mother Down" is awesome :) Same thing at the beginning of "Keep Yourself Alive" come to think of it.... |
vinny2256 09.12.2003 15:36 |
It has to be the one vision intro at wembely. Those guitar riffs at the start were amazing! |
Mrs.Taylor 09.12.2003 15:49 |
I love Black Queen and one of my fave soundbites would have to be "My life is in your hands, I'll foe and I'll fie" |
MexQueenFM 09.12.2003 15:50 |
"I love Black Queen and one of my fave soundbites would have to be "My life is in your hands, I'll foe and I'll fie"" I love that part too!!!! , I love it when Roger sings :D |
Mrs.Taylor 09.12.2003 16:10 |
And the 'One Vision' instrumental at Wembley - especially the drumming. |
The Real Wizard 15.12.2003 23:17 |
"Sock it to 'em Rog" What's this from? I know I should know this... shame on me! |
Saint Jiub 16.12.2003 00:00 |
intro of Liar? Can't remember which common 70's concert. I have CRS disease too. |
The Real Wizard 16.12.2003 13:53 |
Ohhhh, of course... from Hammersmith 75. Can't believe I forgot about that one! |
Mr Coolest Cat 16.12.2003 13:59 |
Just as The march of the black Queen is starting to die down and the track overlaps into Funny how love is, goose bumps everytime. |
