Anyone else heard the rumour that Queen & The Darkness are going to be headlining the Saturday night the other acts mentioned were AC/DC, Bowie, Robert Plant, Muse, The Damned, Blur, Placebo and Blondie.
Heard this on Tony Hornes show (Century 105.4)
Can't be true - not enough hippies.
I can see Darkness getting second on the bill one night if they continue to get exposure, but AC/DC are too HM for Glasto.
Queen, AC/DC, Bowie, Robert Plant, Muse, Blur, Placebo...
....Oh, my God... had this been true that would have been the ultimate wet dream of mine!! My number 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of my all-time favourite bands (and two other nice ones) all playing the same night?!?! I would go berzerk!
It won't be announced until May who exactly is playing as it said at the top just a rumour like the other names added. The rumours will go on for a few months yet but I would,t be surprised to see Queen playing. I would also love to see the MC5 playing with Dave Vanian (Damned) singing my god that mans underated - anyone see the MC5 documentry on Ch4 last week?
I'd be fuckin amazed if Queen played (this is NOT a cue for more "it's not Quen without FM" posts, OK?), as they're the opposite of a Glastonbury type band.
Holy shit!!! Queen, The Darkness, Blur, McCartney, The Damned, Placebo, MUSE....??????
What a fucking great line up!!!! When is that??? I have to try to get there!!!
Not even the inside track from a local farmhand can tell you that I'm afraid.
Glastonbury doesn't usually announce it's acts until at least February.
And when they do I'm sure it'll be on the official Glasto site that you've no doubt already found and checked.
Yep these rumours are certainly building up. I remember last year the same thing happening and the rumours were very very close to the truth. Someone somewhere is always happy to leak this sort of stuff.
Well I haven't heard much from Glasto.
However, I might be reconsidering going to T in the Park in July, because Bowie and The Darkness are headlining this show.
I know that there are some Portuguese fans passing a petition around trying to get Roger and Brian (Queen +) to perform at Rock In Rio-Lisboa. Does anyone have any new info on that? All I heard that Britney (Twitney) is going to headline this concert in Lisboa, along with Metallica, GnR, and some others. I ask about if Brian and Roger are going to be on, because they are Twitney's chummies :-P
Rumours matter not one bit.
Prince would be booed off stage as Glasto and he's not the sort of chappie to enjoy playnig in the mud.
Plus there is the fact that it is recorded that he won't like. All in all, if he played it would be more of a miracle than Queen & Freddie playing next June.
When it is said that Queen are not a 'Glastonbury' band you have to remember that what matters is the opinion of the guy that owns the land (Michael Evis) - the guy is a bit of an anomoly and has a big say in events, so if he is a Queen fan you never know. I don't know how it would quite work but let's face it there is a possibility - I haven't even heard the rumour until now so it is probably bona-fide made-up shite.
I've heard another rumour - As iit is the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts, NME have decided to let We Will Rock You (Musical) be performed in the NME tent as an arse-crawl to The Darkness who they completely and utterly slagged off in the early days and which culminated in the Editor of NME getting down on his hands and knees at a party begging Justin for forgiveness.......
As far as May 2004, it may or may not be so, anything can happen, and I do mean anything. Just cannot wait for Fall of 2004 cause Broadway will get rocked.
In addition to Queen, there is to be an Elvis play as well, and don't forget Taboo which is doing quite well I understand and Sir Elton John will compose the music probably along with Sir Tim Rice or someone else for a Vampire play based on Ann Rice's Lestat the Vampire novels, I cannot wait for that!
