I can only say that it was spectacular. The crowd lost their bearings when Mr. May and Mr. Taylor appeared. I am so fortunate! But the best thing for me, is that I heard them rehearse every day the week before the concert. The studio where the bands were rehearsing is in the same complex as my martial arts dojang. I must tell you that my martial arts improved DRAMATICALLY for that week - with Bohemian Rhapsody and the rest of the medley to inspire us, we all trained like we were in the army! It was spectacular and I will never ever outlive it. Much love to all, Celeste Cape Town, South Africa |

you are lucky :P |

you live in a hell hole and got to see one great concert, and you want us to be jealous? =) |
Josuè 02.12.2003 06:47 |
What you happended sounds magic. You're so lucky!!!! btw, how old are you? Are you from South Africa? |
Jacklyn_Sparrow 02.12.2003 06:52 |
Dear Sir, or Madam A hell hole? I think you need to come and visit Cape Town! It is a beautiful city. And yes, I think you should be jealous! I would be! I am so jealous of you guys in the States - you see so many amazing things on a regular basis! :p |
Jacklyn_Sparrow 02.12.2003 06:54 |
Yes, I am from Cape Town and am 26 years old. And it was magic. |
ogre t raylot 02.12.2003 06:56 |
why should I be jealous? - I attended Queen concerts in the dim and distant past. I don't need to be jealous of anyone who sees Queen+ |
Josuè 02.12.2003 06:57 |
Celeste, I'm (in a sane way) jealous of you. I perfectly understood what you meant about that about being jealous. There isn't such a lot of oportunities to see Brian and Roger live nowadays, and you've had a real and fortuneable lucky, besides of that about the rehearshals. Forget him, he was ironic, but I don't find South Africa as a hell hole. It is very beautiful, yes. |
Jacklyn_Sparrow 02.12.2003 07:00 |
Well, at least try to be jealous because I heard them perform their new song live for the first time!!! At least try!! Don't spoil my moment!! Please!! |
Josuè 02.12.2003 07:02 |
I'm with you, Celeste ;) |
ogre t raylot 02.12.2003 07:14 |
"Well, at least try to be jealous because I heard them perform their new song live for the first time!!! " Not the slightest bit jealous - Queen+ is but a pale shadow of Queen. Queen + is nothing but Two desperate old men clinging onto their glory days. |
Rich Tea 02.12.2003 07:32 |
Oh dear what a very sad person you are. I wish you guys would kick ya Asses out of the past! Freddies dead get on and deal with it. Queen will never be the same as they were at there peak but Brian & Roger have every right to use the Queen name and in my humble opinion the new stuff they have done for 46664 is excellent. I still get the same buzz from this stuff as I did all those years ago when I first heard KYA. They should not and will not try to emulate the past and working with musicians from around the world is a brilliant idea. I would much rather have this Queen than no Queen at all. Since 1992 I have dreamed of seeing Queen perform again and at last my dreams are being answered. They ROCKED BIG TIME on Saturday and the world knows it Hey what do I know I've only ever saw Queen 36 times and been a fan since Q1 and yes I'm jealous |
Jacklyn_Sparrow 02.12.2003 07:37 |
Yes, a sad person indeed. Very very sad. They are still talented - THE BEST. I am a hardass and they brought me to scream like a baby at the concert and cry like a baby when I watched the televised version afterwards, alone at home. They are masters of the universe, and any Queen is better than no Queen at all. |
Sonja 02.12.2003 07:44 |
Hey to South Africa! I am not going to spoil your moment so enjoy it: I am very jealous!! :-) The only thing I have seen that was closest to Queen was We Will Rock You in London. And that's it. (apart from videos and dvds) So you are very lucky and I absolutely understand your excitement. Most of the Queen stuff (and not just Queen) happens in Europe and US (and Oz with WWRY). I am very happy for you that you enjoyed it so much! Rock On! |
Voice of Reason 2018 02.12.2003 07:50 |
That all sounds great Jacklyn - especially hearing them when you were in the gym! Inspiring indeed. |

"Oh dear what a very sad person you are. I wish you guys would kick ya Asses out of the past!" Not sad at all, quite content in fact. |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 02.12.2003 07:55 |
I'm as jealous as one can be :) Lucky girl! |
Rich Tea 02.12.2003 08:03 |
Contented LOL I guess we are each entitled to our own opinion after all music is a very personal thing. I find it irratating tho when people slag off someone for trying good or bad just because it doesn't appeal to them. I hate pop idol but wouldn't slag off the entrants because at least they've got the balls to get up their and have a go. brian & Roger don't need to do this for any other reason than they want to so good luck to them I say. |
Jacklyn_Sparrow 02.12.2003 08:09 |
Yes, let us not forget why they are doing this! It's all for a very good cause. And I don't care about Happy-Day's comment - why don't you go and do a couple of riffs on the guitar on stage in front of 3 billion people and get them to applaud? I salute Roger Taylor and Brian May!!! |
Mr Coolest Cat 02.12.2003 08:17 |
Jacklyn, try to ignore some of the guys on here, they say they are not jealous but really they are. I saw Queen 11 times in their peak, i also attended the Freddie Mercury tribute concert at Wembley, but i wish i could have been in South Africa. Not jealous, not much. |
deleted user 02.12.2003 08:18 |
it's sad seeing this sort of fight on this forum, and i'm having enough of it. People who know me, know that i'm a QUEEN fan in the real meaning; i love queen 1970-1991. I dont liked the new tracks, i dont like new bri and rog songs, i tend to research about everything connected to the full QUEEN. but it's really annoying see old people's posts insulting the new generation, especially Celeste...if i were her, i'd be very disappointed and sad. She's not been arrogant, just wanted to spare his magic moment with us all and he had better reasons than me, for example, when i saw brian and roger in modena. i hope this attitude will stop.i love Queen as they were, but let's accept every points of view. cheers |
Penetration_Guru 02.12.2003 08:23 |
I think the problem is in the phrasing. Jacklyn is rightly chuffed that something spectacular happened in her back yard, but her EXPECTATION that everyone else should or would be jealous, when seen on a screen, COULD look like arrogance, which brings out the fighting talk in those of us old and cynical to remember when Queen were a four piece. This is not to blame anybody, just to explain. If the word jealous had not appeared, this thread would be full of people being happy for Capt Jack. |
Penetration_Guru 02.12.2003 08:27 |
One point of order "the world knows it"??? Most of the posts on here this week are complaining that the media are ignoring Queen's bit, editing it out, putting Britney on instead etc. The only people who could think that Queen rocked are those who saw the webcast or watched the ZDF recording. And not all of them will agree that "Queen rocked". |
Rich Tea 02.12.2003 08:27 |
I wonder if they have the same discussions on the Who forum or the Rolling Stones forum both are big name bands who have lost 2 original members through death or retirement Well said Hangman |
Jacklyn_Sparrow 02.12.2003 08:30 |
Okay. I see what you are saying here! Please accept my humblest apologies everyone, I meant absolutely no disrespect and did not want to sound arrogant! I was simply ecstatic to be able to see this concert - believe me it never happens here! I am a musician myself, have been playing the guitar for 19 years and I know the blood, sweat and tears that go into what Mr. May does with so much ease. I respect anyone who can do that. So, please accept my apologies all, and know that I only mean well! |

Jacklyn, did you receive my email? |

"Jacklyn, try to ignore some of the guys on here, they say they are not jealous but really they are." Speak for yourself - Jealousy is a wasted emotion. Be content with waht you've got, I always say. :-) |
Jacklyn_Sparrow 02.12.2003 09:16 |
Actually, wstussyb, I didn't miss the smile! That is why I replied with one, if you look carefully! Look, I meant no harm with any of my posts. I am a musician and appreciate any music. And it was amazing to be able to see these two for the first time ever in my life. Hopefully it won't be the last time either! So, please do not be jealous - be happy!!! |

Hey, I want to be jealous! Can I? :D |
behind blue eyes 02.12.2003 11:49 |
Jealous? Yes I am. I am 41 fnck!ng years old and have never seen Queen1 or 2! Now don't that suck! I have loved them since I first heard bohemian rhapsody while I was in Jr. High or high school. So long ago I don't remember. But I must tell you this. And you better listen. Age is so irrelevant! Talent is talent and even if you are not a very talented artist, you still an artist. The love of what you are doing is what is important. Fuck anybody who says anything different. I love music! I sing everyday. I love all kinds of eclectic shit and try to stay away for too much mainstream. Best thing about singing for your own pleasure is how it makes you feel to belt out stuff you hold dearly within your inner core. So screw the age factor and the glory days have their value but if someone wants to make beautiful magical music even when their in their fnck!n' 90's, listen and learn and grasp the wisdom in their voice. Jacklyn, I'm not sure which was more special. The concert itself with all the energies of the folks around you loosing for these classic performers? or The special opportunity to listen to them rehearse and tweak their talent. Lucky Lucky you! Cherish this experience forever girl. Sincerely, Rosanna |

rosanna rosannadanna, Yours was the first "angry" and "cursing" post ever in Queenzone that I must support! So true it was that it made me laugh. Sometimes we have to say somethings, don't we? ;) Nice to see a mature point of view. :) Cheers, Ogre- |

Celeste you have a wonderful name. You had a great opportunity and you lived an extatic experience at this gig. I am with you...i had a similar experience as yours in Modena (similar because of Brian & Roger...but it was a different show) and i would love to share it with everybody on Queenzone.I understand you perfectly...and me too, playing guitar, i could appreciate Mr. Brian May ;) So be happy, keep smiling thinking about what you have just attended....I wish i was there with you!!! :) bye bye have a nice day, Lorenzo PS: and a part this little problem...HAVE FUN on this board!!!!! |

Congrats and welcome, Celeste!!! |
Jacklyn_Sparrow 03.12.2003 06:01 |
Thanks all! The rehearsals were brilliant - it was almost like we were having a personal show. We actually had Bono strolling around the grounds, but Roger and Brian "hid" themselves very well - they must have sensed danger!!! I would certainly have kidnapped especially Brian and demanded guitar lessons... |
proton 03.12.2003 07:14 |
Hello Celeste! Glad you liked the concert, it's always a treat to see Queen members perform live. We Dutch had that privilegde too in 2002 during Queen's day in Amsterdam. Most important is that YOU had the time of your life there! And that was 1 of the things the concert was meant for! Giving people a good time, raise money for charity and awareness. It's so easy to go critisize their performances and post negative stuff. Sad to see fans who seem to have lost respect for their idols... Brian works his ass off and this is the reply ... Ignore those posts dear! And welcome in the Queenfan community! Greetz, Freddie Netherlands |
Penetration_Guru 03.12.2003 08:20 |
Good of you to skim through the thread without reading it proton. Most of the people I read are balanced in their views, but you just sweep through all that. Looking forward to any kind of Queen performance/release that it ISN'T easy to criticise.... |
