"we watch the shows we watch the stars on videos, for hours and hours we hardly need to use our ears how music changes through the years (....) when we grow tired of all this visual" ummm....and what about her singing? or isn't that important? |
wstüssyb 01.12.2003 16:24 |
ummm....and what about her singing? or isn't that important? Ummmm looks first... |
FriedChicken 01.12.2003 16:26 |
she's a good singer, i'm glad Brian and Roger chose for real talent this time (Corrs, Dave Stewart, Zucchero) instead of crappy pop acts |
Pim Derks 01.12.2003 17:05 |
She's hot :-P Talking about the Corrs - anyone know tracks similar in style to the Toss The Feather instrumental? It's FAB! |
Mr.Jingles 01.12.2003 17:27 |
<< I defenatly wouldn't kick her out of bed :) >> I would love to go to bed with The Corrs. Minus the guy, of course. |
Spisso 01.12.2003 19:04 |
The words "Talent" and "Zucchero" definitely can't be used in the same sentence |
FriedChicken 01.12.2003 19:42 |
have you actually heard anything he did? No? shut up then |
NoOneButYou1975 01.12.2003 19:46 |
have you actually heard anything he did? No? shut up then Las Palabras De Amor from the Tribute concert comes to mind...... |
Holly2003 01.12.2003 19:51 |
If you like Irish folk music done with electric guitars then the band Horslips may be for you. The Corrs were great at this show. A rousing rendition of TtF and a very moving and capable performance of Is this the world we created... |
wstüssyb 01.12.2003 23:33 |
If you like Irish folk music done with electric guitars then the band Horslips may be for you Ummmm I'm just a fan of any chick who is hot enough to sing, the music is 2nd to last =-) |
Spisso 02.12.2003 04:46 |
Be quiet FriedChicken. Very quiet. I've heard quite a lot of what Zucchero did, as i am italian, my darling, and, do you know Italy? It's the same country from where Zucchero comes. So, please don't be rude if you don't even know what you're talking about. |
Penetration_Guru 02.12.2003 04:57 |
Spisso, coming from Italy doesn't give you more right to comment on Zucchero than the rest of us, as I know you know. If you are an afficionado of his then fair enough, but having heard him sing three Queen songs now, I REALLY wish he'd stop. |
YourValentine 02.12.2003 05:50 |
I agree: Zucchero and Queen songs don't match somehow. In Modena Brian called him on stage for WATC and asked the audience "Do we need Zucchero?" The crowd answered : "noooo" but Brian ignored the public vote and let him ruin WATC. His own song (Cosi Celeste) was much better. |
rmtaylor 02.12.2003 07:23 |
so .. you think that a singer is not talented only if he can't sing Queen song good enough? Oh, ignorant, shut up. I remember you that Queen songs aren't the easiest ones around to sing. You can't say Zucchero is not good only because is not the best Queen-song singer. You should listen something more from his discography, then think again on what you said. I wouldn't say he is the best Italian singer, but is light years far better than many many many others. |
Penetration_Guru 02.12.2003 08:17 |
I didn't say he wasn't talented. I said I wished he'd stop singing Queen songs. As you say, they appear to be difficult to sing. They're certainly too difficult for me, and they appear to be too difficult for him as well. That's it. Haven't listened to anything else he's done. No plans to either. |
Red_Special 02.12.2003 15:18 |
Well well.. I'm not a fan of Zucchero, but he's definitely a great blues singer and a good musician. I didn't like his performance at the tribute, and I agree that his voice doesn't fit most of the Queen songs, but he is still a great artist. He's a friend of Brian and they're happy to perform together on stage. I don't think they're ruining Queen songs or that this would upset Freddie. WATC is a great song and nobody can ruin it. We all know how great the original version is, so who cares if Zucchero can't sing it like Freddie? NO ONE can sing like Freddie. |
Daburcor? 02.12.2003 15:28 |
ESPECIALLY someone like Andrea Corr. "The last time this was performed was at Live Aid..." And she's SOOOOOOOO smart too! XD |
Lester Burnham 02.12.2003 15:39 |
Because when someone makes a tiny slip-up like that, clearly that makes them the stupidest person on Earth. I'm surprised no one's suggested a lynch mob yet. |
Daburcor? 02.12.2003 15:41 |
Glad to know the joke went over well! |
Lester Burnham 02.12.2003 15:45 |
Same here! |
Daburcor? 02.12.2003 16:04 |
LMAO! |
Hitman 02.12.2003 18:19 |
well...Zucchero a good musician?!?!?! "Così celeste" at Pavarotti and friends 2003:HIS song, and he broke a string of the guitar after 50 seconds!!!!!!! LOL (it's true!!!!) anway i like Zucchero, actually he is one of the best artist in Italy IMO...and most of all he is a Brian's friend...BUT ME TOO!!!!I want to sing with BRIAN!!!!!I'm a friend of yours B!!!!maybe a collaboration with my band?!?!? =)) |
slightly Fred 02.12.2003 20:02 |
@ hangman (photo of Andrea Corr): Yeah, i remember, this moment my eyes popped wide open. Her singing on 'World We Created' was moving. Zucchero's 'I Want It All' was better than i expected. Anastacia did a great job on 'WWRY/WATC', but was a bit over the top. Would like to hear AL of the Eurythmics do some Queen-stuff, she had a fantastic performance. Poor Roger looked like being in trouble when on drums. Can't judge his playing but doubt he's in shape for a whole set. |
FriedChicken 03.12.2003 03:17 |
well...Zucchero a good musician?!?!?! "Così celeste" at Pavarotti and friends 2003:HIS song, and he broke a string of the guitar after 50 seconds!!!!!!! LOL (it's true!!!!) What the hell does that have to do with being a good musician. Freddie lost his voice, Brian broke a string. So you're saying they're bad musicians? |
YourValentine 03.12.2003 04:09 |
I can listen to WATC on a record all the time, that's not the point. I was talking about a live performance and for me Zucchero ruined WATC in Modena, he just sounded awful. If he is Brian's friend and they enjoy performing together, well that's good for them but personally I would prefer they do it at home and not in front of an audience :) |
Hitman 03.12.2003 13:03 |
oh my....IMO breaking a string after 50 sec is not the best way to introduce himself as musician in this event... ;) but i still underline that i like Zucchero and i consider it one of the best artist in Italy (even if sometimes people accuse him to "steal" melodies for his song). i don't mean that people who break strings is not an artist! :) Then you know...it's Zucchero's style at FMT, in Modena and in SA....and probably Brian likes this way of performing :) . let them free to perform! |
Mr Mercury 03.12.2003 18:13 |
All this talk of Zucchero's performance being good or bad is completely missing the point of this concert. Ok so he cant sing like Freddie (tho I thought he was a damn sight better than at the tribute gig), or Roger might have been out of shape playing the drums, thats not important. What was important was the it was to benefit Aids victims by raising cash - not for us to judge the performers by how good they could sing or play. |
Penetration_Guru 03.12.2003 18:51 |
Can't we even have a side thread discussing the music? Not even a little one? Please? |
Mr Mercury 04.12.2003 05:22 |
Ok PG you got your wish. And besides I was only having a rant... And yes I love Andrea Corr as well. |
Penetration_Guru 04.12.2003 05:27 |
a rant? sounds fair - that's what the rest of us are doing too |
Mr Mercury 04.12.2003 05:33 |
Ok then... |
Hank H. 04.12.2003 08:18 |
Zucchero must have some talent since he toured with Miles Davis. Though Miles was certainly no more in top form those days, but still it's a fact I can hardly believe. I think it's waaaaaayyy more challenging to play with a man like Miles compared to bellowing a tune like Champions, that belongs more to the audience than to the artist singing it into the microphone. All I wanted to say is maybe Zucchero is better in other styles of music? |
Bohardy 04.12.2003 09:40 |
Fucking hell. And I thought Miles knew how to pick the best musicians. When you say toured with Miles, was he the resident bean-bag or truck driver or something? Explain. |
Richard Lopata 04.12.2003 10:02 |
Everybody is talking about Roger looking troubled behind the drums. The only reason why he looked like that during the Corrs'Irish tune was because of the heavy (allthough it wasn't amplified that heavy) bassdrum line ... that is pretty exhausting and needs concentration and coordination; especially when you are doing this with two drummers ... |
Hank H. 04.12.2003 10:20 |
"Fucking hell. And I thought Miles knew how to pick the best musicians." Yeah, that's why I concluded Mr Sugar must have some talent. "When you say toured with Miles, was he the resident bean-bag or truck driver or something?" LOL, maybe that's the answer to this problem. I read it on 46664.com, in the artists section. But since it must have happened in the 80s, it's possible, Miles produced a lot of bullshit during that decade. Maybe Zucchero influenced him more than necessary? EDIT: Checked it again and it probably means they shared a bus or something. But it says they also recorded a song together... |
Bohardy 04.12.2003 11:02 |
I have to admit Hank that I haven't really delved yet into the world of 80s Miles, but now that I know he associated himself with Zucchero I think I'll definitely stay clear. Apparently in 1988 Miles heard Zucchero's "Dunne Mosse" on the radio whilst thouring in Italy, and invited Z to record a special version of it with him in New York, the lucky wanker. This version was never released but "they did perform it live several times". Weird. His name doesn't quite sit alongside that of John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Paul Chambers, Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams, John McLaughlin et al really. |
Hank H. 05.12.2003 11:02 |
80s Miles is funny, but bullshit compared with everything he did from the late 40s to 1970. But you know about the Prince-collaboration? But most musicians reached their peak when they played with Miles, so maybe the song is a fantastic peace of Z in top form? Don't think so. |
The Real Wizard 05.12.2003 12:18 |
I haven't heard any of Zucchero's own material, but I can see that he's probably a great singer, when he's singing songs that are actually in his vocal range. WATC does not fit into that category. |
proton 09.12.2003 05:24 |
Yes, her version of 'Is this the world we created?' was quite erotic... :-) |
