The edited version of the concert to be broadcasted tonight (December the 1st) in many countries is now available at 46664.com A lot of Queen stuff has been left out: -Say It's Not True -TSMGO (it's edited out after Brian's The Call) -Is This The World We Created -Everybody's Got To Learn Sometimes -Bo Rap -I Want It All -I Want To Break Free -Radio Ga Ga All that great stuff won't be found on this version. you know MTV sucks. They left some room for all the Peter Gabriel's crap, of course. You know Gabriel's stupid and endless tunes equals MTV rubbish. Beyonce performance is also there, of course. Tits and stupid dance music is the kind of perfect scum for a MTV broadcast. Who cares about the real good music from Queen? they are only the best musicians in the world and that's why MTV won't care about them. |

Are you shure? |
CMG 01.12.2003 12:41 |
The show will be on MTV in about 2 hours and a half in my country, and then we'll see if the version finally broadcasted is that one from the 46664 web page. I think it is, but I'd be glad to be wrong! |
QueenSite 01.12.2003 12:46 |
"They left some room for all the Peter Gabriel's crap, of course. You know Gabriel's stupid and endless tunes equals MTV rubbish." I won't define Gabriel's tunes "stupid", as Biko was one of the most poignant songs of the night, and Gabriel it's 23 years since is very active in South Africa/Antiapartheid/Human Rights things...so ,respect! In Italy it's supposed to be broadcast in 2 hours 'time, but it will be definitely heavily edited |
CMG 01.12.2003 13:48 |
Yes, I respect people who might like Gabriel's music. It's just I find leaving out so much Queen stuff out of the MTV edition very disrespectful. I remember watching the video of Brian playing at the Prince's Trust Gala 6/88 for the first time and thinking Gabriel's performance was not as good as the other ones from that great show with Brian. |
look what they've done to claudi.... 01.12.2003 13:57 |
mmmh, i saw the version they showed on (german) zdf, and they left all that stuff in.... mmh, have to watch it again straight away, because i taped it (i suppose it's the complete concert, almost 4 hours long....) |
look what they've done to claudi.... 01.12.2003 13:59 |
and sorry for that, i know it's slightly off topic: MY GOD, ROGER LOOKED SO UNBELIEVABLY SEXY AGAIN!!!!! this man makes me faint every single time he's on the screen!!! *cries*goes mad* |
Azmandaman 01.12.2003 14:03 |
Yo yo Mtv programe coordinators and editors are the real muthafuckas in this shit, I tink they must be just 19 to 23 year old pop idols rejects thats doin there bit to keep da pop fans of to day happy and leavin da old but genius of Queen to one side. BBC 1 would never leave them out! mtv is just burgers n' fries cant take a full plate of Queen, they are to fuckin grand! Fuck mtv and all da fast food musical chains of da world lol!! hehe!! |
FairyQueen 01.12.2003 16:24 |
I totally agree...MTV can kiss my ass.. |
NoOneButYou1975 01.12.2003 16:35 |
MTV KMA too |
Mr.Jingles 01.12.2003 16:46 |
I'm sure that the didn't edit one single minute from Bono on stage. I wouldn't be surprised if MTV actually showed the moment where Bono went backstage to take a shit. |
AG 01.12.2003 16:53 |
I've just watched the MTV version of the concert on Norwegian, and sadly you were right: "A lot of Queen stuff has been left out: -Say It's Not True -TSMGO (it's edited out after Brian's The Call) -Is This The World We Created -Everybody's Got To Learn Sometimes -Bo Rap -I Want It All -I Want To Break Free -Radio Ga Ga" Hopefully the dvd will have a complete version.... |

I've just watched the concert on MTV Russia and it isn't too bad! They showed (with Bri & Rog): Invincible Man / The Call / The Show Must Go On BohRhap / I Want It All / I Want To Break Free We Will Rock You & We Are The Champions It was f*cking amazing performance! :) |
NoOneButYou1975 01.12.2003 17:51 |
ok i watched the oprah show i dont normaly do this but since they where gonna show something bout the concert ........it made it look like that Bono and Beoncye was the only ones doing the show......WHICH IS BS!!!!....i can only hope what mtv has in store in a few moments.... |
QueenSite 01.12.2003 18:11 |
"Yes, I respect people who might like Gabriel's music. It's just I find leaving out so much Queen stuff out of the MTV edition very disrespectful." In Italy they showed 4 Queen tracks and just one of Gabriel. Anyway the show was heavily butchered, a pity |
Mr.Jingles 01.12.2003 18:21 |
Oprah's attitude pisses me off. On a previous interview with Bono, she made it seem like white people didn't care about the AIDS situation in Africa. It seems like she thinks that all whites dislike blacks in some way or another. It also pisses me off that Dave Stewart is not getting any credit. He has worked harder than the rest to make this a reality. |
dragonzflame 01.12.2003 19:10 |
I think that edited one was the one we got. An hour and a half of mostly guff in my opinion. No Cat Stevens, no Bob Geldof (who were both there). Beyonce went on for far too long and I'd have thought that Anastasia, in the presence of the man that wrote WWRY would have troubled to learn the right words. Gah. |
NoOneButYou1975 01.12.2003 19:16 |
Bob Geldof (who were both there). i saw him on the MTV2 special and he only talked but he was with guitar so he may have done a song before or it was afterwards i dunno...didnt see Cat Stevens..not nearly enough of the Queen Set...nor Not Enough Corrs;) heh oh and watched the Vh1 news special...feels KINDA vindicated cause they mentioned Freddie on the aids history program |
joep the rocker 01.12.2003 19:25 |
'On a previous interview with Bono, she made it seem like white people didn't care about the AIDS situation in Africa. It seems like she thinks that all whites dislike blacks in some way or another.' Well if you consider the rascist views of fellow board member (wonderboy RonB) who thinks the high number of aids-victims in Africa are the result of the laziness of Africans, i think oprah might have a point there. Also, i read a dutch article stating that in Holland people arent interested in AIDS anymore since the disease is more or less under control. Also how much did you guys heard about the concert anyway? Everybody is complaining about the lack of coverage in the media, but isnt that just a proove of the attitude of the western society regarding the AIDS situation in Africa? Thats what i think anyway. |
Mr.Jingles 01.12.2003 19:48 |
It's not a racial issue. AIDS is also a problem in most 3rd world countries and rich countries still don't care. They only reason why they don't want to help is because rich countries want something in return for helping. |
NoOneButYou1975 01.12.2003 19:49 |
Bob Geldof (who were both there). i saw him on the MTV2 special and he only talked but he was with guitar so he may have done a song before or it was afterwards i dunno...didnt see Cat Stevens..not nearly enough of the Queen Set...nor Not Enough Corrs;) heh with that being said...i'm waiting on the dvd of the COMPLETE show... |
joep the rocker 01.12.2003 20:00 |
'They only reason why they don't want to help is because rich countries want something in return for helping.' Where did you get that crap? They dont want to help cause they dont care. The truth is people dont give a shit as long as they are not personnaly involved. What do western people want in return anyway? You dont go to dying children and say:' Hey, we wanna help you, but.....we want something in return". Maybe we want african children to work in plants to cheaply produce the cacao used in our mars-bars. Oh no they already do that. Think about that when you eat your mars bar next time. Africa gave enough and its time western countries realize that its time we give something back. |

Saffron Caribou 01.12.2003 20:44 |
Joep does have a point. If you want to help, it has to be from the heart, and good intentions. Not because they want something back. Erin I know. I saw the last 20 mins. Very weird indeed. |
Mr.Jingles 01.12.2003 20:46 |
Joep, you still don't understand don't you. I'm not talking about people as individuals, but about governments, corporations, and all the people who have the power to really make a difference. |
Saffron Caribou 01.12.2003 20:51 |
Mr. Jingles, now I understand. One word comes to mind... Globalisation. It's a spiffy term, learn it, use it, and live it. ;) :P |
Saffron Caribou 01.12.2003 20:52 |
Well I caught the last 20 mins of the show. I think either MTV or VH1 US are going to re air it later on. So I'll post my thoughts later. |
joep the rocker 01.12.2003 21:57 |
'Joep, you still don't understand don't you.' Well maybe you should be a little more clearer in what you mean. 'I'm not talking about people as individuals, but about governments, corporations, and all the people who have the power to really make a difference.' Thats an easy way to avoid responsibility: pointing at the government. I believe the way western countries deal with AIDS-issues is the result of views shared by the society as a whole. As a proof i pointed at the poor coverage by the media. This shows that WE as citizens are not interested in the problems in Africa, we just ignore them. For example the key to solving the problem is reducing the price of AIDS-medicine so it will be available for people who cant afford it right now. This can only be achieved by a change of view in society wich may lead to pressuring the medicine-manufacturers into changing the prices. So it starts with pressure from society, wich is you and I. That's what the 46664-thing is all about. Its not pointed at governments or corporations but at the individuals all over the world. |

I've watched it,I couldn't the other day,so it was better than nothing :). |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 01.12.2003 22:41 |
Quick report about MTV Brasil's transmission: It was just an hour of transmission, including advertisements. Only 48 minutes net. As regards Queen, they showed: - Toss The Feathers; - Invincible Hope/The Call; - Amandla (mic incident edited out); - We Will Rock You; - We Are the Champions. I would consider that to be excelent, if considered that only an hour of the whole 5 hours of concert were showed. In fact, the proportion of Queen in this transmition was bigger than in the concert itself. Problem is... I want it all! :) Cheers, Ogre- |
Mr.Jingles 01.12.2003 23:24 |
Joep, even with the effort of the working class majority is still not enough to deal with the problem. Sure we could help in some way or another to make a difference, but without the help of the wealthy ones, it's hard to deal with the whole situation. |
wstüssyb 01.12.2003 23:25 |
globalization. aghh I have to use that word a lot in my class. I still have yet to see or hear the show. |
Saffron Caribou 01.12.2003 23:43 |
Right, I've just seen MTV's heavily edited 90 min version of the 46664 concert, and i have to say that I was quite impressed with the concert overall. Personally, I thought that Peter Gabriel stole the show, period. Biko was absolutetly amazing! The American Prayer was great, lovely song. The Amandala part was awesome, that lil Mr. Africa's prayer was clearly the most emotiional part of the show for me. Now Roger and Brian... Right, they did a good job for the footage that I have seen in this transmission. I really liked The Call, first time that I've heard it, as well as Invincible Hope. Definatetly those two songs had the May sound! Performance wise, Bri was a tad emotional. You can just see it during the Amandala, WWYR and WATC. He was about to cry in one point! My heart just fell for the guy. Clearly BRian's heart was in the right place in the right time with the emotional energy with essence of the concert. Roger was FAB during the Irish jig! I observed that he was a bit out of synch, but Eric Singer was there so it was great seeing him aain, and WOW he is foxier than EVER! Overall 8/10, because of the editing, if only I saw Jimmy Cliff, Yusuf Islasn, and more of Brian and Roger I will wait for the DVD release. |
QueenSite 02.12.2003 04:01 |
"I'd have thought that Anastasia, in the presence of the man that wrote WWRY would have troubled to learn the right words" that looked totally unrehearsed to me. Maybe someone decided that Anastacia should sing it (and stole Brian's vocals) at the very last minute. Maybe this is what pissed off Brian, talking about "rampant people" in his letter? |
