On a recent interview Roger was asked to explain what was "Now I'm Here" going about, and he told this:
RT: 'Now I'm Here'. Yeah. I remember I think we were doing our third album... second... third album I think, yeah, and it was we wanted something a bit rocky and to me at the time, I thought it sounded a bit like The Stones. But we played it so many times live on stage, and it got faster and faster and faster, so when I haven't heard the original, but I do know its a lot slower than I expect it to be.
I just wanted you to read it ;)
I just got the feeling that Roger (as anyone else in the band could do) doesn't listen to Queen songs nowadays. I find it quite understandable, but... I don't know, what a shame, isn't it?
not really
band memebers are not huge on remember things they do like the fans are, all most every band is like that, they are not paid to remember this stuff and big time fans remember everything they can about the band.
I bet Roger could not even remember 99% of the chicks he slept with =-)
Yes, but it would be curious to know if they do listen to their old creations nowadays... Could you imagine now Roger playing "Queen" album and listening to it?
Stupid question though...
It's not what William said.
It has nothing to do with a bad memory or something like that.
For example.
Fans have bootlegs, so we know every setlist from the different tours without looking it up, Queen probably haven't heard a recording since they did the tour, so they 'haven't seen the setlist for at least 18 years

aint that using memory?
well ofcourse, but i meant that the queen fans listen to the albums or bootlegs a lot, while the Queen members didn't hear much bootlegs, and didn't listen to the albums as much as the fans did. So it's not strange that they don't know if a certain song is on the 2nd or 3rd album
hahahaha
As I said, I find it understandable. They did a lot of songs. How would they remember them all?
I forgot I am a fan and they're the creators. I'm always listening to their creations and they do the creations and go to another thing, other creations. Well, doesn't matters anyway.
And, of course, it's been 30 years since their first album release... it is normal to have bad memory... they're on their 50ies, almost 60ies, hehehehe
"it got faster and faster and faster, so when I haven't heard the original, but I do know its a lot slower than I expect it to be." ???
"I just got the feeling that Roger (as anyone else in the band could do) doesn't listen to Queen songs nowadays"
This is an interesting topic. I know from interviews that many songwriters do listen to the songs they have written. Probably because they like their songs, but also because they like to be pleased with theirselves, they like to rejoice at their creativity and at their success...
I think Brian does listen to Queen songs nowadays. Probably also John does. Maybe Roger doesn't, and Freddie wouldn't do, because it's my opinion that Roger and Freddie just look at the present and are less tied to the past than Brian or John. But these are just suppositions and impressions, so I could be totally wrong!
As you've said, it is your opinion. But you could be right. Anyway, we don't actually know them. We don't know how they do in their lifes, how often they stop to listen music or... how knows?
btw, I've put the Wembley DVD and I'm listening to it from the PC, hehehehe.
Playing Is this the world we created... how nice...
cheers
I remember reading once a Freddie quote that said "all I want in life is to make lots of money and spend it." that totally bashed down what I thought of him, you know? But then agian sometimes i think maybe that is just a front, like saying that none of his songs have any hidden meanings. They have to have some hidden meanings, listen to these wild lyrics like in March of the Black Queen!
"Third... second... no, third album."
freddie said the same thing in the magic interviews!!!
and also Brian in the #1 song award on the GVH1 dvd!!!!
I guess it's in thier blood?
Yes, sure! hahahaha
I don't think there're hidden meanings on TMOTBQ, he once said he's a bad writer, and I think that he just did the music and then add the lyrics as they fit in the song, without meaning but yes with an structure (although I don't find any structure on TMOTBQ!!!)
