....and how they did!
(Just a short concert report, although I can't tell a lot about the show)
As I said, they rocked! Only a little bit too hard. I don't know if it was because it was Friday/weekend but the crowd was soooo rough!!! I've never seen anything like that and I've been to loads of rock concerts!
It wasn't fun anymore. Mainly because my friend's brother, Kristian, was with us and he's only 14 and very skinny. And we were afraid that he'd get crushed or hurt. He loves Muse and was so excited about seeing them live.
So, we got in and managed to get a place quite at the front, in front of Matt (singer). We saw the support band Cave In from there. They were ok.
But then the crowd started to push us nearly to the floor. People were walking out with bruises and blood all over the face, girls crying, it was just too rough. And the boy in between all these tall guys...
As soon as Muse came on. The opening was great! Those who have "Absolution" know the Intro. That's how the show started. Awesome!!
But it got worse and we went a bit more to the left side where we thought it would be a bit more relaxed... No way! It was just as bad as where we stood before. Another friend of mine had already gone to the back cos she was feeling sick.
We were pushed even more to the left side and couldn't see anything anymore so we went upstairs to the balcony. Kristian was so upset, the poor guy was almost crying. Muse were playing and we were running around in the venue trying to find a good place for him to watch the show (we didn't even care about ourselves anymore although we love Muse but we wanted him to see the show).
Then I had an idea of which I thought wouldn't work anyway: you know these sort of VIP areas right above the stage, where all the friends and family of the band members use to watch the show from. I went up to the security guy and said: "Hey, I've got a 14 year old boy here who loves this band and he wasn't able to see one second of the show so far. And it's his birthday today (that was a lie), so he's very disappointed. Can't you make an exception and let him in?" But the guy was cool, he said "where is he, bring him here. But I can only let him in, not you." I didn't care anymore anyway, so I brought him to the security and my first thought was: What if he says happy birthday and kristian just says "what? What are you talking about?" But thank god, the guy just asked what age he made and Kristian just said "14" and he let him in.
5 Minutes later he called us girls and let us in, too.
So at least the last 20 minutes of the show were good, we could all see very well from there.
And I talked to the bassist of Cave In! He's cute!!
LOL
Well, that was the concert for us. Good that I already saw them 2 years ago! But still I'm quite upset and disappointed now cos from what I could see it was an amazing show! They played all my favourite songs and the new album is their best one anyway and Matt Bellamy is just a genius.
IMO they're one of the best live bands, at least of those I've seen so far.
I'll put a photo of the show in my profile for a while...
PS: Who was it again who went to college with Muse?
"Muse are so last week. It ain't gonna happen."
Maybe where you are but here they play sold out gigs. It IS already happening!!! Their new album is one of the best things I've ever heard in my life.
"Everybody knows that The Darkness is where it's at."
Yes! But for them I'll have to wait till February! :-(
Good stuff always arrives late in Germany. ;-)
I know how you feel! I saw them in October here in Italy...they ROCKED! They are really amazing, I haven't listened to a voice like Matt's in a very long time...
I love Absolution, such a great album even though I have to say that I prefer Showbiz. That album is so beautiful and a great work for such young boys...Just listen to Showbiz (the song) or Falling Down or Muscle Museum...
I can't wait to see them again!
I know, Showbiz is amazing. Better than Origin of Symmetry.
I think Absolution is similar to Showbiz. I'm glad they didn't make another OOS.
Muscle Museum is a classic! Unintended is one of my favourites, too.
