In London I've bought 3 sets of the new Queen GVH2 DVD (took some extra home for friends because of the UK slipcase) and at home I noticed that in all copies the clips of I Want To Break Free and Invisible Man have good sound, but the video has a constant stutter. Really annoying and I think this should not happen to a Queen product advertised being the only dvd worth buying. Apart from these two f*cked up videoclips I have no complaint about the content of the total dvd, it's magnifico. I've read about some other errors but not the one I've got on my discs as I can recall. Has anyone experienced the same problem? |
wstüssyb 19.11.2003 15:50 |
well Gee...I dunno yet...since it's not out here yet. |
Forever Queen 19.11.2003 15:55 |
Hi ya! Yes i've been experiencing the same problems on I want to Break Free and the Invisble Man, but the rest is very good. |
Maz 19.11.2003 15:56 |
Did you try playing them on a different DVD player? |
bleeding heart show 19.11.2003 16:01 |
Nothing is wrong with mine....this is for ones who have it, did u notice roger singing on the last part with bowie in the instrumental version of UP on disc 2 ??? 'cause it's not there on the studio version....also in the credits on the last two pages in the booklet an interview with David bowie is mentioned so that means that it MUST be in there somewhere!!!!! |
Rien 19.11.2003 16:16 |
I have not tried them yet on another dvd-player. So I'll see what they will do in the ones of my friends. But as there is also another person here who has the same problem, I guess it's the dvd that causes it. One even has a thin scratch on it, I think caused during putting the disc into the holder in the factory or something... |
MexQueenFM 19.11.2003 16:24 |
i'll tell you next week :) |
Kickforce 19.11.2003 16:49 |
I have got the same errors Rien :( |
wstüssyb 19.11.2003 17:03 |
funny, no errors on the usa copy(as we dont have them), seems it is good to wait a few weeks =-) |
FriedChicken 19.11.2003 17:07 |
no errors on mine |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 19.11.2003 17:29 |
How bad, Rien! :/ Well, my Brazilian copy doesn't have these problems. On the other hand, we don't get the slipcase. Cheers, Ogre- |
Adam Baboolal 19.11.2003 21:08 |
No errors on mine or my friend's copy. |
Robin Jansen 20.11.2003 06:26 |
After having bought the DVD on the day it came out, I too experienced the problems which are mentioned above. I took it back to the shop and got a replacement copy, which turned out to have exactly the same errors! In the end I decided to just get a refund instead of getting yet another copy which I thought would probably be dodgy as well. I have to agree with Rien in saying that for a product advertised as the only DVD worth buying, it's quite alarming to find that so many people seem to have experienced the same problems with their copies. |
anato 20.11.2003 16:12 |
SAME PROBLEMS : ( AS WELL |
Brian_Mays_Wig 21.11.2003 02:50 |
No probs on disk one, its just that disk 2 keeps stalling, on STAYING POWER too :( (sobs) |

When I watch the dvd's at home, there's no problems at all. But when I watched them at my work, in a different dvd player, there was problems with I want to break free, The invisible man and Back chat... |
Adam Baboolal 21.11.2003 21:38 |
Could we get a list of how many people are affected and also the problems involved? |
Banquo 22.11.2003 01:58 |
Nothing wrong with having a constant stutter I've had that all my life ;) |
deleted user 22.11.2003 13:04 |
No errors as such on my copy, but i want to break free was out of sync as with the hot space videos - dissapointed with that :'-( |
mickeybrad 26.11.2003 06:38 |
I just bought QHV2 on DVD and the problems I had trying to get disc 2 to work. Also my version of disc was not in full 5.1 even in DTS mode. When I took it back to my local Tesco's (Sunderland Tyne & Wear UK) where I bought it from they said that they have had nearly all returned faulty and have took them off the selves. |
KevMull 26.11.2003 10:00 |
"Also my version of disc was not in full 5.1 even in DTS mode. " Let me guess....No center channel! |

No errors in mine, excellent |
riku_queencdr 26.11.2003 12:52 |
I have the same errors as Rien. I ordered mine from CD-Wow and waited for two weeks to get the DVD. It didn't arrive. Then I emailed them telling it hasn't arrived and they sent me another one. That arrived but it has these errors. Guess if I'm pissed off. Total of three weeks waiting and then I get a copy with errors. Mine is the "Miracle" sleeve version. It's gonna be a big hassle with CD-Wow to get a replacement without these errors. I just wonder why they don't check the product before they bring it in the shops. There are not only few copies with these errors but surely at least hundreds. Not really a good advertising for the new Queen DVD... [EDIT] Just got an answer back from CD-Wow. They are out of stock of the DVD and are not planning to re-introduce it. Nice. Now I'm left with a faulty copy. They did tell me to send it back and include a note what's wrong and they then refund it with my next purchase bla bla... Too much hassle, just like I said. I would just like to thank Queen Productions for the great release again! Sorry if I sound bitter but I had the same propblems with GVH1. Errors on Killer Queen. I got a corrected copy about 3-4 months after the release. Next time I will buy Queen DVDs locally so I can walk to the store and get my money back in case it's faulty. That's what I did with GVH1. Wembley DVD I ordered from CD-Wow and that was ok. Nothing to complain about that DVD. |
YourValentine 27.11.2003 09:01 |
I know how you feel, Riku. I am not even discussing these GVH releases anymore. It's incredible how sloppy they are done. Looks like the quality control department of Queen Prod. was closed |
Mr. Scully 27.11.2003 09:44 |
Riku, I have very good experiences with CD WOW. When I reported a faulty item, first of all they immediately sent a replacement and THEN asked me to return it back. I got my copy from CD WOW quite quickly but I don't know if it has these errors or not, I will have to check. I'm not much into videoclips you know, I even hardly ever played GVH1 (although I did listen to the DTS sound a couple times and saw the bonuses). I prefer live DVD's or DVD-audios. |
Kenneth E. Sandvær 27.11.2003 10:37 |
I got error in Back chat, the picture keps jumping. Got mine DVD from CD wow. Disc one looks like a good SVCD, or a bad encoded DVD :-( The same videos looks much better in disc two. Strange... |
YourValentine 27.11.2003 10:53 |
The jumpy pics in "Back Chat" are the result of the same frame being repeated in quick sequence instead of keeping the original picture. Reason: If they had kept the original pictures in some places, they would have had only Freddie's nose or only half of Roger at some points (compare to the original 4:3 video). That 's the result of the "artistic" decision to scan/pan video clips. |
Daburcor? 27.11.2003 11:17 |
The only problem I had was the whole award show audio snippet. Other than that, I loved it! :D |
riku_queencdr 27.11.2003 16:36 |
I will get my money back, credited to my credit card if I return the DVD. Cd-Wow does provide good customer service. I don't want to say a bad word about them. Only thing was the delay receiving the DVD (they did the same thing to me Martin, sent a new DVD when the first one was lost) but this disappeared DVD is of course not their fault. I'm mostly pissed off at Queen Production for releasing a product which is faulty. Everyone is losing money here. Of all the DVDs I have bought, only Queen GVH DVD's have had errors. I can't think of any other DVD that I have had to take back to the store. Amazing, isn't it? |
Adam Baboolal 27.11.2003 20:01 |
How many other artists dvds do you buy, riku? |
wstüssyb 27.11.2003 21:07 |
How many other artists dvds do you buy? quite a few...so far Queen one is the worst one..My wife works at a video store, they check every copy of DVDs some have errors, like the new Xmen fullscreen a lot of them have erros while the widescreen are perfect. most American copys of the DVD's seems to be allright, as they were maybe printed later then the european copies. |
MexQueenFM 27.11.2003 21:33 |
yeah, my dvd is ok, also GM's and Wham!'s |
Lester Burnham 27.11.2003 21:52 |
The only error I found on my DVD was the Ian & Belinda video. |
Adam Baboolal 27.11.2003 22:17 |
Same here, Lester. Same here... |
riku_queencdr 28.11.2003 01:39 |
I didn't mean just music DVDs. I meant DVDs in general, movies also. From the music DVD's I have the absolute highlight is Carlos Santana's Supernatural. What a picture and sound! I know that Queen videos can't be restored to similar quality but at least they could be without errors. But as I said, I can't claim all Queen DVD's having errors. I haven't heard anyone having troubles with Wembley or Freddie Tribute DVDs. By the way, I have problems also with my The Game DVD-A. It gets jammed if I try to skip tracks when I listen it in DTS. I usually listen the whole album through, so it's not necessary to skip any songs. If I do want to skip some, I simply change the audio settings to stereo. |
Adam Baboolal 28.11.2003 17:05 |
Damn. You do get a lot of errors. The Game's fine with me too. |
wstüssyb 28.11.2003 17:15 |
I haven't heard anyone having troubles with Wembley I think Barb said she had a error and had to ask for a exchange or so. |
RainMustFall 30.11.2003 10:14 |
Um, on Who Wants to Live Forever, I get Brian's commentary in French subtitles... and I didn't put any of them on... |
Pluto 30.11.2003 11:28 |
my dvd is fine but how do u get the bowie interview |
teddybear 06.12.2003 18:27 |
I had troubles with my DVD here in Australia too, Break Free - awful lines until I press stop and play again - I get a replacement, but was the same "teddybear" |
deleted user 07.12.2003 08:50 |
I'll go and check...The error I remember was that in some videos the sound was a bit distorted :-( |
Mr. Scully 08.12.2003 06:28 |
I have it from CDWOW (black cover) and it plays perfectly, even in Break Free and Invisible Man. |
Mrs.Taylor 09.12.2003 15:43 |
I had a problem with GVH1 Disc 1 but it was a HUGE scratch on the disc rather than with the disc itself. I've had no problems with either of the GVH2 discs. |
Daburcor? 09.12.2003 15:50 |
"The only error I found on my DVD was the Ian & Belinda video." Yeah... HUGE error there. Simply ghastly. But, it WAS for a good cause. |
PieterMC 09.12.2003 16:28 |
Errors / Problems / WTF: A Kind of Magic - The picture is squished. Looks stupid Radio Ga Ga - Somebody must have been on crack when they did this. Box states all videos are in 16:9. Obviously they are not. Box states that the One Vision documentry lasts for "30 minutes". It only lasts 18. The sleeve is too small for the box. It is a sleeve for a single DVD case not a double DVD case. All copies in Best Buy here were like that. It if it was not for the audio commentary and the special features on Disc 2, this would not be worth owning in my opinion. I have several music DVD's by other artists. The Queen discs, with the exception of Wembley, are the some of the poorest I own. |
Adam Baboolal 09.12.2003 17:08 |
PieterMC, I think some of your errors are a little unfounded. "A Kind of Magic - The picture is squished. Looks stupid" The picture looks fine once the respective tv is used. 4:3 and 16:9 tv's will set the picture correctly. The point of this strategy is that it will look correct on either system. "Radio Ga Ga - Somebody must have been on crack when they did this." Looks fine on mine. "Box states all videos are in 16:9. Obviously they are not." Technically, they are, i.e. even AKOM. Peace, Adam. |

ALL videos have been encoded as 16:9. This is a fact. As for the videos you say are 4:3... They're squeezed together on either WS or FS tv to get the original 4:3 look. I believe this was to retain what they originally wanted. They will work on either system. I'm really baffled when you say that you have to change your player to 16:9 and then back to...whatever it was set at. Can't say I've ever had to do that. HTF is pretty weird looking. I don't know if it was intentional or not. I'm guessing that's a real mistake. You're having problems with your insert sleeve? Can't say I've had that one. Take it back to shops, perhaps? Peace, Adam. |

Adam Baboolal 20.12.2003 19:04 |
AKOM is encoded 16:9. Invisible man isn't. Unfortunately, I forgot that I'd left my tv set to 16:9, so InvMan looked stretched. I know exactly how my tv works thankyou. I happen to be working with video a lot and it's very big hobby. So I have to know the basics... I have a region2 disc. When it comes to your explanation about changing settings on the dvd player, I can only say that I've never needed to do that for anything. Even my own stuff. I've watched on computer, a WS tv and a FS tv and I've never had any viewing problems that you refer to. Maybe the region1 is different. Peace, Adam. |

Adam Baboolal 20.12.2003 23:45 |
No way am I offended. But you're assuming that my dvd player works like yours. It doesn't. That's all you need to know. I'm Adam. I'm big on video and audio. More of a pro when it's audio. That's why I know what I know. Peace, Adam. |
TruePar 25.12.2003 19:30 |
Just got the Canadian copy of GVH2. Noticed the following issues on my Toshiba 1650 DVD player: I Want To Break Free & The Invisible Man - both pictures stutter. Who Wants To Live Forever - I get French subtitles...? WTF? Anywho - apart from that, it's a good DVD. I would be interested in finding out what is causing these problems (dvd pressing, dvd player...I've never had a problem with any other dvd before..) Merry Christmas to all :-) ..and Happy Holidays to the people who don't celebrate Xmas. |
SaraMercury x 25.12.2003 23:00 |
I also got the French subtitles. I thought that I hit a button because they were still on for the next song, but all I did was hit the subtitles button and turn it off. Seemed to work. I guess I didn't hit anything after all. Do you have an Apex DVD player by any chance? Also, does anyone know where the hidden video on GVH II is? I can't find it. |

And I thought I was picky about Queen DVDs!! (LOL) No qualms or quirks on my copy. I located the hidden videos, and everything is totally fine... EXCEPT that I envy those with UK releases with the slipcovers! Something the idiots at Hollywood Records in the US would not even think about doing, stupid bastards!! |
