Has anyone already tried to rip GVH II DVD files to .avi/.mpg format? I tried, but failed to rip "I want to break free" and "Invisible man" from the 1st disc, "Back Chat" and "Calling all girls" from the 2nd disc, everything else was fine. So, maybe someone ran into the same difficulties as I did? One ripping program, which I usually use, fails to rip them at all, demands to set "24Hz force" or somewhat alike in the options, I do but it doesnt help. And then another program rippes them, but I get not pure videos, but commentaries on videos. Any advise what to do?

huge amount of info on converting, ripping etc, incl. manuals how to do things and links to the prog's you need!
I rip dvd's using smartripper (if I need only part of a dvd), or dvdshrink.
I convert vob's to mpg using TMPGENC DVD author or I use DVD2AVI and then
the normal TMPGENC.
This should be the best way to obtain a VCD MPG file:
1) Use SmartRipper to rip the VOB file.
2) Use AC3Dec to rip the audio from the VOB file in an high-quality MP3 file.
3) Use TMPGEnc. Video Source: select all files *.* and then select the VOB file. Audio Source: select the MP3 file. Specify the other settings (ratio, and similars...) and click ok.
If you don't care about audio quality, you can select the VOB file also for the Audio Source.
It should work.
I have several programs, use them successfully, but just cant to rip those 4 songs to pure video, but get them only with B&R commentaries. Maybe the problem is concerned with that I rip them one by one? Anyway, thanx for information and those links, I'll try to get what I need.
You have to select the right audio track, and you have to do this with Smart Ripper. Just click on Stream Processing and select the video/audio/data tracks you want to keep and the ones you want to leave out of your VOB file.
