Did we know about this? I didn't, but it's awesome! link
Of course we all know the first three, and those familiar with Bowie's Black Tie/White Noise album know the fourth. But what about those last three???
ps-if you read the whole thread, I'm ZiggyMercury and I definitely teach those kids a thing or two about who Queen is.
ironeagle; I bless you madly!
Though she's so swishy in her satin and tat; in my frock coat and dipperty-bobberty hat. Oh, I can do better than that! ;-)
Yeah, Nick I am. (I'm sure you knew, we talked Bowie a while back, remember? You told me about your choir and stuff).
I got quite some bootlegs too (made 3 of them myself last month of David's Reality gigs). You going to see him too in december or january??? You should, the tour is realy going from strength to strength, although at the moment he is pretty ill and had to cancel some shows...
Can you tell me some details about the Outside outtakes? I surely might be in for a trade. I expect some major updates to my collection in about two weeks. I'll send you a list when they are in, okay?
Cheers!
Freddie co-wrote Life On Mars, one of David's greatest songs ever, and Roger co-wrote Heroes... But no-one knows that since David didn't credited them...
Nah... give me Hunky Dory! (or Station to Station, Diamonddogs or 1.Outside for that matter...)
Love his Berlin period too, but to me the third part (Lodger) is, apart from some 'alright' ones, complete shite... Always wondered how Lodger would have been had Brian Eno produced this one too.
well i am patiently waiting for his return here---
havent picked up the new cd yet
but have listened to it as he is on the free channel 103(weekends only) on DirectTV all this month
and in the death....
as the last few corpes.....
:)
"I watched Bowie's DVD last night, and discovered that he did the drag thing in about 1980"
The Rolling Stones also did the drag thing, - they did it in 1966 for their promo "Have You Seen Your Mother Baby, Standing In The Shadow?"
Hi all,
While many of the songs have been proven to be ones which sample "UP",there's still the little matter of "I Feel Free",which Bowie used to perform live back in the early 70's,had planned to include on "Scary Monsters"(a version was recorded during the sessions for that album),and finally was re-recorded and included on "BT/WT".Also,read some time ago that there was a jamming session in which they played old Queen and Bowie songs(and maybe covers?)....
Yeah, I've heard that as well. Currently Bowie is trying to put out a few CDs of rarities, and that tracks is one being tossed around. I'll let you all know if it comes out.
Just reading 'Complete David Bowie' by Nicholas Pegg.
It's surprising how many Queen references are in there, According to the book Cool Cat isn't a demo but was slated for release on the album until it was pulled last minute. The book also states that DB was asked to produce Queen II, doesn't say who by though.

Came across this on the net:
In a recent internet interview, Bowie was asked if he had been influenced by Queen, to which he replied, "I doubt it, since Freddie asked me to produce his first album." "Certainly not!" Taylor exclaims. "But David was producing Lou at the time.(the album "Transformer"-HH) We were taking the down-time. Literally, they'd be coming up the stairs and we'd be going down the stairs. David probably remembers it slightly differently, but I doubt he was being 100 per cent serious. Knowing David, very little he says is!"

I've heard this before. I think there's an acetate or a promo version with the Q+DB version of Cool Cat somewhere....
According to Brian, Cool Cat version with David wasn't a demo, it was the album version they were planning to release. They sent him a courtesy note mentioning they had included it and he answered that he didn't like what he did in the song and wanted it off the album. That was just one day before the release of the album so they had to re-schedule everything
