A lot of you are working from home and need cheering up a bit. Hopefully your not staring at a blank wall behind your monitor, so why not spruce up your PC wallpaper and surroundings a bit like I have. It might make you feel a little better! link |

You need to fix a light in there! |

Interesting topic. I hope more people participate. This is to the right of my computer. |

Sorry for the double post!! |

Nice one, I think it makes things a little more pleasant if you're stuck at a PC for long periods. I usually have planet Rock on the radio as well, all good until the new comes on! |

Double post (again). |
Saint Jiub 01.10.2020 00:37 |
Another pic with flash ... This time with the 800 lumen LED overhead light bulb (equivalent to a 60 watt incandescent bulb) behind me (4 feet from computer table). |
Katydyd5 01.10.2020 01:14 |
: ) Glad to see you do have some light Saint Jiub. I was feeling kinda sorry that you were in some dark corner. I like your screen saver! Kurgan, if it's not too technical, how do you post a picture without making it an attachment? |

It has historic colorful art and deep thoughts that I could never desecrate. This hallowed wall still has faint blue and yellow chalk etchings created by my two sons over 15 years ago: A stick man and the word "poops". Now, I am gonna hold my breath until Kurgan apologizes and kisses my ring. |

This is the artistic masterpiece: |

This is perhaps the deepest, most poignant thought in galactic history, and is particularly appropriate during the best year ever (2020). |

I take it all back, you need to turn the light off again. |
Katydyd5 03.10.2020 01:39 |
Saint Jiub, the family art makes all the difference in the ambiance. Having raised two boys myself I understand boys and that period they go through where "poops" is the funniest word ever spoken. At first I thought the area was too dark, but then I realized that I never turn the light on in here and so dark is just fine with me. It's like your own little cave. |
Saint Jiub 03.10.2020 01:48 |
The basement is my man cave and refuge. The lighting is good enough to read a book or do the newspaper sudoku. The overhead light is equivalent to a fully cloudy day. I had forgotten about the very faint chalk "artwork" for a few years, until Kurgan mentioned my blank wall. |

Perhaps I was too harsh, get a lower wattage bulb until you decorate and turn your dungeon into a proper man cave! |

Ok, I’ll play. I use either an iPad or laptop most of the time, so when the weather is nice I will be out on my front porch doing things. But I do still have an office where I do things, so the above pic shows where I sit when I am inside. It is in my basement...and sadly you can see from the chair how my cat loved to sit on my shoulders while I worked there! |

The Kurgan wrote: Perhaps I was too harsh, get a lower wattage bulb until you decorate and turn your dungeon into a proper man cave!As a stereotypical engineer, I mostly only care about functionality, and generally don't care about appearances. Therefore, I consider my man dungeon to be the perfect man cave for me. Also, my spider infested man cave is perfect ambience for my videogame dungeon crawling, where giant hairy spiders pounce and attack from above. |

I fully accept your preferences, but consider them rather abnormal. Each to his own of course. |
Saint Jiub 03.10.2020 21:21 |
I never claimed to be normal. I take pride in being quirky. |

MyHumanZoo - Fully agree with the teamwork and bossy ethos, more my sort of scene with nice surroundings and a few Queen items dotted about. |

My work space is a large roll-top desk in a small area at the top of our stairs on the second floor. The picture shows the right hand side of my desk (minus my wedding picture). You can't see it from the photo, but there is a full sized window to my left...I can reach out and touch it, so there is a lot of natural light. On top of the desk is a watercolor painting my husband did for me of a clay jar of lavender...Also sitting on top of the desk is a tambourine my husband gave me a couple of weeks ago (for playing along to certain Queen songs!) It replaced the Christmas bells I was using. :) It's interesting how varied we are in our tastes...whatever works for us and makes us happy is good! |
Saint Jiub 04.10.2020 00:54 |
A computer at the top of the stairs sounds familiar to me ... LOL Before 2009, my wife, two boys and I somehow shared a computer "in a small area at the top of our stairs on the second floor.". In 2009, I had a work contact build a gaming computer for me, and put it in the spare bedroom. In 2012, I gave that gaming computer to the kids, built a gaming computer for myself, and put it in the unfinished basement dungeon that I was "too lazy to decorate". |
Katydyd5 04.10.2020 00:56 |
Thanks all for sharing your work spaces. I'm with Rainbow, if your space works for you, that's fine by me. Everybody creates their own idea of comfort. Rainbow, I had a moment of panic when you mentioned your wedding picture because I have a picture on my desk that my kids made for me of Freddie and Mary with my face superimposed over Mary's. I had to check to see if I had accidentally caught that in either of my photos because if I had I would have slunk off in embarrassment never to be seen again. It was obviously a joke but not one I care to share! |

Love your little Queen work station Rainbow61! Katydyd5 - now we need to see that photo? Saint Jiub - you need to check the air quality down there, it's affecting your sense of humour. |

Saint Jiub...This is the first time in my life I have ever worked from home, but so far, it's been great. Currently, when my husband needs to go online, he uses our laptop downstairs. Your current set-up sounds very private...although if you were serious about the spiders, then it sounds absolutely HORRIFYING! Katydyd...The picture of you and Freddie sounds like fun. I guess your kids know you well! The Kurgan....When I bought the stamps and the coin, I knew I wanted to put them someplace where I could see them all the time. I think people often buy items that they look at a few times, then they go into a drawer. My Queen "work station" is really just my personal computer space where I happened to set up my work laptop. I do enjoy looking at those Queen items everyday. MHZ...I noticed you have Queen Monopoly. Have you played it yet? I've only played it once with my husband...we kind of modified some of the rules, but it was fun. Is Secretariat your favorite race horse? I only saw his win on video, not live. For me, American Pharoah's Triple Crown run was the most exciting 3 races I have ever seen. My husband and I have unredeemed $2.00 tickets we bought at a local betting place as souvenirs. I have watched American Pharoah's Belmont Stakes race so many times that I have memorized, word for word, the call of the final stretch! |
Saint Jiub 04.10.2020 18:41 |
Rainbow - I was joking about the spider, although I might see a spider several times per year. |
MyHumanZoo 04.10.2020 21:56 |
Yeah Kurgan, my desk area is kind of a catch-all for stuff. There is a recessed ledge all the way around the outside of the room for the windows. That ledge has become the area where I display stuff I don’t know what to do with, lol! It is tchotchkes and random stuff that I got from work or family that really can’t be displayed anywhere, but I don’t want to throw it out. Those signs are ones that I love, I got them when I worked in a big company and they pushed teamwork and stuff, but then never really let you do it, they controlled everything. These sayings were the outlet for my bitterness! Rainbow, I absolutely love roll top desks! I think they are cool. My grandmother had one when I was a kid and ever since then I’ve wanted one. I do love Secretariat, I bought that picture at a fund raiser for something or other. Cool story, I have never missed a Kentucky Derby, I have watched all of them since I was 5. I was a horse-crazy little girl, and the year that Secretariat ran I was so excited, I was playing softball, and we had a practice that afternoon at our downtown field. It was the one and only time my parents forgot to pick me up! I was so set on watching Secretariat run, I walked/ran all the way home, guessing about 4 miles. I made it just in time to turn on the tv as the race began. I think I was 9 years old at the time. Now it would be way too dangerous to do that. And no, I haven’t played my Queen monopoly yet. I only have my husband to play with me at the moment, he is such a real estate and money fiend, I know I’d never win! I’m waiting for my grandkids to get old enough so I can beat them...and of course give them a Queen education too! |

St. Jiub: Well, if anybody has ever wondered about your sexual orientation on QueenZone, the photos of your unfinished basement's computer workstation clearly establish that you're a heterosexual male. The decor - or LACK of decor therof - proves it. It's spartan yet "functional." Your "man cave" DOES resemble a cave. It's dark, dank and cold. It even has the requisite cave art that's almost worthy of the prehistoric cave art of Lascaux and its bison speared by arrows! Your decorating style could be classified as minimalist - or concrete jungle, prison solitaire. May I ask a personal question? How low is your home thermostat set? LOL BTW, please take my teasing in good humor. My late father was an engineer, as well as many of my current friends. My basement is also unfinished, but I use it solely for storage. Kurgan, Katydyd, MHZ and Rainbow, I like your Queen-decorated computer workstations, too. |
Saint Jiub 05.10.2020 01:25 |
I don't control the thermostat. The temperature is reasonable I guess. My son has the fan on in his upstairs bedroom, whereas my T shirt is within arms reach in my cave. |
