Yes I was. Queen in Newcastle 1975 A Night at The Opera tour. One of the best gigs ever.
Bohemian Rhapsody was at it's fourth week of a nine week run at number one.It was sold out
and someone asked me how much for my ticket on the way in. Sorry, I replied not for sale.
The support band was Mr. Big (the 70's Mr. Big) and they seemed to go on forever.
I had the official programme, but cut it up a few days later and stuck it on my wall (crazy)
The light went out,and the biggest cheer I had heard went up.
Welcome Kenny Everett's voice told us, To A Night At The Opera.....
The place went mad,a piano started the middle bit of Bohemian Rhapsody,
a spotlight shone at the back of the stage up near the organ.
Freddie's silhouette appeared,cue more cheering.
I see a little silhouette of a man,Freddie sang.
Cue clapping and singing, the crowd were singing along with the opera bit.
No No No,and the rest.
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me...…..
Cue flash bombs and there were Queen singing the third part live.
What an entrance, the place was going mad.
Ogre Battle and White Queen followed. What a show, what a night
The Prophet's Song was a highlight for me and Brian's Guiar Solo in Brighton Rock.
Sadly I did have a low quality tape of the gig, taped by a friend on a reel to reel recorder
from the projection box at the back upstairs. But it's long gone now. Great memories.

Now that's tragic. Was it thrown out or something?
Reel to reel tapes can be baked, so if it's in need of restoration, possibilities abound now.
I had a cassette copy from the reel to reel, sadly lost in divorce way back in the 90's.
Quality was low,but a nice memory. I did meet the friend I got it from a few years ago,
but sadly he didn't keep in touch with the guy that worked at Newcastle City Hall.
Named Moose, he taped a few gigs around 1975-77 Wings,Queen and Glen Campbell I seem to remember.
If he really wanted to, he could perhaps try contacting him via his successor, Colin Rowell.
After all, the reel could be sitting in Moose's attic.
Or perhaps he sold it.
