My favorite song is simple man what I think it means live a simple life dont live to hard in the fast lane you will regret it.Dont put your faith on your riches you can become a poor man tommorow what you can count on is in your soul .You can only count on yourself in this life.Troubles will come and they will pass meaning we arent promised a easy life we are gonna have problems but the sun will be on your face tommorow and those troubles will pass.Saying all this a mother is writing this letter for her son to show him a light at the end of the tunnel maybe she's not gonna be with him to be a man and she wants him to follow this path for his life that's what it means to me.
^that's a beautiful sentiment but doesn't bode well in the city. Nor in much of society.
Life is perilous when penniless and women would seldom give you the time of day.
Unless you could commit to an ascetic lifestyle it doesn't ring true, although not all ambitions are "accomplishments" many accomplishments can be simply a matter of insight.
It's unfortunate that we live in such times. Very machine like.
That commentary said. I could never pick ONE song. It's impossible. I hope others do because this is a nice topic.
Kinda early bf gf conversation though.
When reading my response and qz's site erasing much of it.... i read the word insight.
Its not my favorite but for purposes of selecting a song here. Insight - Depeche Mode is a good one.
While I'm now pretty sure it was a reflection of Dave Gahans decent into living death and Martin's bold resistance writing himself into a song of reassurance... As it applies to myself. .. i can only feel the sentiment and appreciate the soulful solemn nature of someone presenting such a part of their life into words and music and possibly changing the colors and tones of someone who would "hear" it.
My favorite song is not something that would really be quantified but hey. That's as good as any.
I just searched YouTube and found out Martin actually performed it on the last last last Tour. Pretty amazing witnessing that band in person. Love em. Don't care what anybody else will say. Most resounding and consistent band of the last 40 years
Matt z , I agree but in the 60s a song like this made perfect since right?Or maybe something like Free bird.I like music and interpreting what songs mean to me I dont think its early bf gf stuff. Songs like simple man are timeless.Okay give me a song that has been there through the ages .Black Sabbath Iron Man give me another Ozzy is timeless.
