so, the 50th would (likely) be the 27th June (first gig as Queen)
they could do this properly:
maybe release something special from the archives - 50 "unheard tracks/gigs/demos
with the biggie being released on June 27th - maybe comparable to the Marquee gig?

NExt year - In 1991 the Hollywood rereleases had the sticker "20 years of Queen" on it. I am sure Maylor will rewrite history again. As they both hate John they will put the 50th anniversary in 2020. SO there will be another Lamebird tour and another crappy Freddie Boxset :) Money Money Money

Pretty sure they would have announced it as their 50th for the tour this year if they were gonna do that which is why I suspect they'll do something special next year since they haven't mentioned it at all.
For those who cite Freddie as the founder of all things Queen, then it's June 2020! as that was the first gig as Queen.
Brian isn't being revisionist either. Should 2020 be the officially-decided 50th, then they'd be honoring/acknowledging something Freddie did back in 1970. that's not a rewrite - it's exactly what happened.

In February 1990 at a party for the Brit Awards, Queen was presented with a cake with "Queen A 20 Year Monopoly" written on it. Ah, so 1970 must be the start.
In 1991, Hollywood released their catalogue with "1971-1991" on it. So, it's 1971!
In 1998, the 25th anniversary Crown Jewels box was released. In Japan, the Queen catalogue was released with "25" on the obi. So... it's 1973, counting the year of their first album?
In 2011, we got the "Queen 40" remastered albums. Queen got an official Japanese twitter page, with the Twitter handle @queen40jp. (That was short-sighted, and they haven't changed it yet.) So, back to 1971.
Anyway, 2011 was the most recently celebrated anniversary year, and the official Queen site also says they were formed in 1971, so that's probably what they'll go with moving forward.
As for what they could release, maybe their videos remastered in 4k, like they did for Never Boring? 5.1 surround mixes of their studio albums, like they were planning on doing anyway?
Queen as a band was launched in 1970, but if you consider all members to be equal then it was 1971. If they did the 40 Years of Queen celebrations in 2010, then it would've only been 39 years of John Deacon because he wasn't a member straight away.

but the date a band forms is their start date. So regardless of when the "classic lineup" assembled, the band's birth is June 27th, 1970 (or maybe a little earlier)...ie once they were named "Queen"
Band..................Formation Date.......Classic Lineup Date
Beatles...............1960.........................1962
Deep Purple.......1968........................1969.
Fleetwood Mac...1967.........................1974
Pink Floyd...........1965........................1968
Rush...................1968.........................1974
well, if the 50th in 2020 isn't being given the huge treatment, why should the "50th" in 2021 be any different.
only band in history to have TWO understated 50th anniversaries :-)
For the 2021 I am expecting Queen videos boxset, singles vinyl boxset and Greatesthits I, II III
The 40th anniversary book with few extra pages...
Maybe a special gig. Nothing from archive.
Should be 2020, but 1991 they celebrated 20 years of Queen, so that lines us up for 2021. The last hope for the Anthology. Should be a big release next year....The Miracle Box is Just a rumor in my opinion. Not happening.

Whilst planned releases can, and do, get pulled late on, it's not a rumour - it's been confirmed by both Greg Brooks and Jim Beach (and I think Brian may have alluded to it too?).
It's a release that makes no sense...The Game would make more sense, but you guy's know more than me...The Miracle Box could still be Interesting though.
