Hi there looking back when I was young and Christmas was magical,i remember being 13 and getting a copy of News Of The World at Christmas. This was a really big deal for mum and dad to buy this as I think they thought that Queen were a bunch of long haired hooligans ! God I played that LP to death on my small mono record player.I also remember getting a Stereo record player one Christmas with headphones so I could lay in bed at night listening to Queen ! Wow !
Box Of Trix for christmas '92. I'd joined the fan club six months earlier and had become a Queen obsessive.
I was in awe of the poster with all the picture sleeves that I'd never seen before and obviously the Rainbow video. My whole family were Queen fans and we had all the vhs videos but all the concerts were 80's shows. So seeing concert from 1974 was a jaw-dropping moment for me.
We didn't have a cd player then so I had the cassette instead of the cd :D
The Magic Years trilogy of videos in the box. I still have them in mint condition. It means a lot, it was off my brother who got me into Queen, and probably had one of the biggest Queen collections on the planet. I've still got alot of it, most very rare demo and promo stuff. He passed away a couple of years ago. I'm sure alot of Queen convention attendees would've known him
Received my (our) first record player from my Mom when I was 17, and placed in it was the somewhat newly released BoRhap 45 (which hangs on my home office wall).
(the 45, not the turntable, smart axes......)
Queen 1 on vinyl, Christmas of 1984, two months after I had seriously gotten into them after hearing Queen II. It was a gift from my soon to be wed sister and future Brother-In-Law. He's the one who got me into them to begin with.
It was either 2010 or 2011 when I got Greatest Hits 1 & 2 on CD. Before that, I'd had the maroon version of Greatest Hits that my brother gave me. However, it wasn't until maybe 4 years ago that I started to really started to get into the band.
Wasn't QUEEN: THE CROWN JEWELS, i can tell you that!
Damn box broke the third time i opened it. No additional content and the mini l.p. sleeves were not well done. It WAS the first time I'd heard both I & JAZZ. I'd held off on buying those single discs. Should've saved the $140!
I even thought that QUEEN and JAZZ were defective due to the drastic dynamics and poor mastering
I also got a tall Freddie Mercury figure once. It supposedly plays Radio GAGA and stuff but it's horribly disproportionate and the mold although not bad doesn't come off looking like Freddie well enough.
But that could've been a birthday gift. I had passed it by for over a year cause it was bad. Instead my brother got it for me.
Best gift was the purple QUEEN innuendo tapestry. I haven't hung it anywhere but I'm grateful I've got it after all these years. Yay me!
