Can some of the people on this site please explain why Queen are so reluctant to give us releases that would really excite the older fans who have been there from the beginning and newer fans aswell.Iam not interested in going down to the 02 in London to see the concerts with Glambert. Is it not possible to do a proper uk tour ?? Being disabled its too difficult for me to travel that far.I want some good box sets that I can enjoy at home when Queen were Brian,John,Freddie and Roger. Is this to much to hope for? |

^don't know. It's the age old question. I recall being in high school and expecting a boxed set as there was even talk of such a thing from 1998-2003....Then it's all disappeared afterward There had been skeptical stories in RECORD COLLECTOR magazine as well (*if i remember correctly) |

I personally believe that they honestly believe that they don't have anything valuable in the archives. I remember Roger saying something like that a bunch of years ago. |

It ain't Robert Fripp, but it's better than a lot of the older bands are doing. Perhaps they could've released more, but they've kind of been busy being the biggest band in the world this past year. |

@Real Wizard Queen are Not the biggest band in the world right now, they used to be with Freddie but not with an American jerk like Lambert. Are you for real because you do twitter on some shite on this site. The REAL Queen fans are those that are ever so faithful to the original four band member that really where Queen, back in the day Freddie, John Roger & Brian. It is not Queen now more like " Smile" with a dippy new singer. |

Why would they? They are still coining it doing what they do and that is what it is all about. Frustrating as fuck because I have not spent one penny or invested 3 seconds of my time in anything they have done since Made In Heaven but they are a business. Unfortunately as implied by others before... people need to die (or there needs to be serious retirements) for 'old' stuff to be released. And please stop about 'Anthologies'. That came about because of the Beatles Anthologies and was assumed that Queen would do the same. It is in your head. |

Jazz+ comes across like a very straight lined simple minded individual who doesnt hold a lot of knowledge but compensates with an almost religious view of Queen and Freddie in particular. His views are very black and white and he cant imagine why people hold opinions in his non existent grey area. Simply put, he's an idiot with extreme views and cant take any kind of rational argument against them. In my view, he's a child cause his way of thinking conforms with how they view and react to the world. |

There is a finite amount of unreleased Freddie material. They are probably trying to make as much money as possible from it by releasing as little as possible every few years. |

There is also a limited amount of Queen material, and they want to release by album in drips and drabs with each album costing at least $150 and having five disks with one disk of rarities (and nothing sold ala carte). The Miracle is next year ( ~ 30th anniversary). I suspect the following will be the remaining release schedule: Innuendo in 2021 (30th anniversary) Hot Space in 2022 (40th anniversary) Jazz in 2023 (45th anniversary) The Works in 2024 (40th anniversary) A Night at the Opera in 2025 (50th anniversary) A Day at the Races in 2026 (50th anniversary) A Kind of Magic in 2027 ( ~ 40th anniversary) Queen and Queen II in 2028 (55th anniversary) Sheer Heart Attack in 2029 ( ~ 55th anniversary) The Game and Flash Gordon in 2030 (50th anniversary) Live Magic and Live at Wembley 2031 (45th anniversary) Made in Heaven in 2032 (40th anniversary of Freddie's death) Live Killers box set in 2033 (55th anniversary of Jazz tour) Live Anthology box set in 2034 Yes ... I am very cynical ... |

They really only release things that are pretty much already done. The most they’ll do is “remaster” and pitch correct. If you look at all the other concerts we have they are concerts that were broadcasted, or were previously released in the 80’s or 90’s. Houston 77 is the only concert I’m really questioning why they haven’t released it already. As Mooghead said a anthology will never happen. The truth is that Queen Productions wouldn’t make as much money as simply releasing those tracks as bonuses or individual releases. I don’t see anything coming soon except maybe some bonus stuff for The Game such as alt takes, new songs, maybe some stuff from the South American tour like a documentary. I should say though that the Miracle 30th anniversary is coming out. (strangely in 2020 it’s 31st anniversary.) |

Give us a box like news of the world for every other album. I’m ok with it. It’s expensive... but at least it got done. Maybe they’re holding out for the 50th for an anthology. When is 50 years of queen? 2021? There has to be something fucking big coming out for that. |

Bumper stickers and a crest and a $500 package of gold colored vinyl. 4 editions But they'll make no sense chronologically it'll be about supporting the bad albums (the works, hot space, AKOM, the Miracle) with others. Tacky hybrid releases NEWS OF THE MIRACLE (INTERSPERSED EYE ICONOGRAPHY) HOT OPERA (QUAD TONED EDITION) A DAY WITH THE WORKS SHEER MAGIC (*the Sole positive:... AT LEAST THAT UGLY ASS SHEER HEART ATTACK ALBUM COVER WILLBE RUN THROUGH A STANDARD WINDOWS FILTER AND LOOK LESS LIKE A GAY ORGY) That's all to be expected |

2020 will be their 50th anniversary. Having their 40th anniversary in 2011 was purely a marketing gimmick after signing with Universal. |

I remember back in 2005 - 06 in QOL was announced that the anthologies will be released in 2009. The reason was the Q+PR. and their then recent activity and products. In 2009 Queen already decided to leave EMI so Absolute Greatest was released along with the Singles cd boxset. Then Universal first contract was for 3 years (back catalogue) along with iTunes Easter Europe (that's why they toured Russia etc in 2012). FOREVER was postponed and changed during the following years. The they released Rainbow, Hammersmith, BBC, NOTW and movie soundtrack. I don't know how long is their contract. I suppose, that they keep unreleased stuff for future negotiations and when they stop touring. |

What would you be willing to pay for a Anthology ? When Roger released the lot it was £200,Pink Floyd are releasing some box sets for £350 plus. |
dysan 19.11.2019 09:28 |
The current bowie 5 disc set covering 1968-9 (in a 120 page book) is £85 (average). That's too much for me, but I'm thinking of getting it just due to the fact that I never thought I'd see what it contains released. Same with a Queen set. Depends what's on there. |

(*we're bombarded with them every day) Sad but truly credible analysis of it all. If they hadn't been talking "anthology" from 98-2003 ish then I might have been looking at it from this truly analytical perspective. Amazing. How could someone so bright, be so Dim?? |

Fight From The Outside is one of those Frankenstein creations - Roger's vocal taken from his home demo and superimposed onto the album take. That stuff doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of what's in their archives, and should have been on the bonus discs when they released the albums - not part of a boxset. A boxset should be exhaustive in terms of unreleased material. And instrumental mixes and concert excerpts? Really? |
