Roger said that Innuendo was "sort of a continuation of The Miracle but I (Roger) think it's a lot little less poppy and it's richer and has more depth." link What are your thoughts on this and which album do you prefer? BTW, great insight and interviews and behind the scene footage on this video. |
MrFunster 10.11.2019 08:45 |
For me are the songs The miracle, Was it all worth it and Scandal very good songs, especially on vocals and harmonies. The miracle song is my absolute favourite. But in total , I think that Innuendo is a better album. I really hope the miracle box will have a refreshed recording techniques plus, so it sounds more clearer and rock, just like what they did the techniques they have used with mr bad guy special edition. But remember, Innnuendo has a special status as it Queens last album which has been recorded with Freddie on their side. |
Nathan H 10.11.2019 09:16 |
Both albums have unfortunately always been low down on my favourite Queen albums list, I rather The Works and A Kind Of Magic. But, there are more songs I love on The Miracle than Innuendo and for that reason I'd have to go with The Miracle. |

No contest for me, Innuendo is far better. Stronger songs with more depth in sound and lyrics. |

Innuendo. This album along with Queen II and A Day At The Races makes my top 3 Queen albums. However I really recommend to listen The Miracle, Innuendo and Made in heaven. This three albums stick together lmand give a very beautiful music experience, much different than individually. |
ACCR 10.11.2019 17:17 |
Innuendo of course!! |
Nathan H 10.11.2019 18:31 |
I've never seemed to enjoy listening to Innuendo despite the significance of it. I really wish I did though because it is among one of Queen's strongest in terms of the effort and quality put in to producing it. I seem to love Made In Heaven, there's not a bad track on that album and I always enjoy listening to each song. |
dysan 10.11.2019 19:28 |
I don't do MIH. That other thread about the source of samples used really shows it's such a Frankenstein's monster. Distractingly so. No emotional attachment at all for me. Unlike The Miracle. I think we do threads about these 2 every couple of weeks so won't do my Innuendo - winter, Miracle - Summer analogy again. |
mooghead 10.11.2019 19:44 |
Which is better? Redundant question until a true definition of 'better' is devised. Which do you prefer? Depends on mood/headspace/what you have been listening to. Could change every minute. Sometimes it is one, sometimes it is the other. |
dysan 10.11.2019 19:50 |
We are asked what we prefer, not what is better :P. |
dysan 10.11.2019 19:50 |
I just had a flick through MIH. It is IMO the worse Queen record. |
k-m 10.11.2019 20:20 |
Innuendo for sure. There is a large amount of pretty great songs on it. The Miracle was fun and it's still a good album with a fresh, upbeat sound, but if you compare the best cuts from The Miracle with the best cuts from Innuendo, the latter wins hands down. MIH is fine too, on a similar level to The Miracle in my opinion. I don't care about it being a Frankenstein work, it sounds strangely cohesive and thematically, it seems to supplement The Miracle and Innuendo. All three are well-produced. |

LOL I like Queen’s older albums/songs better and interchange these latter two. I’m sure there’s a big difference between the two to many. Most people on this thread seem to prefer Innuendo and think it’s a better album. I like some songs on each but not as much as the older stuff. |

Hands down the greater work is INNUENDO. ..but i get the analogy hinted above. They have completely different timbre and spirit. MisterCosmicc 11.11.2019 03:08 |
Innuendo. I love the songs on both albums, but The Miracle was missing something. I think My Baby Does Me should have been replaced with a heavy, heartbreaking power balled (Too Much Love Will Kill You), and a different order of the track listing. Party, Khashoggi’s Ship, Rain Must Fall, and My Baby Does Me. That’s half an album’s worth of non-serious tracks. They either need to move me, groove me, relate to me, or rock me. I think My Life Has Been Saved should have been on the album, as well. Freddie said he thought the album needed a breather, but there were plenty of breathers. One of the only things I disagree with Freddie about. |

Made In Heaven is still one of my favourite albums of all time. Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti is a similar example, stemming from recording sessions in 4 different years. Side 3 in particular transitions from one year to another with each passing track, and it still flows perfectly. That knowledge enhances the experience for me, if anything. |

I liked them at the time, but really the “ rockers” on Innuendo don’t work, including Headlong. The Miracle has more real energy. Even Party/Khasoggi are more like statements of intent rather than songs. A brave way to open before a run of of singles, a couple of laid back tunes and a storming finish. |

All gods people is very much underrated. This song show a lot the power vocals of Freddie, i wished there would be stems of his vocal only recording. Can someone fx that ? I am afraid this song is too much related to faith and God. Please call it Africa by night. Maybe the song will have another meaning and wiol interest more people. In total I will rate this song at same level as The Miracle song and Innuendo song or somewhere between these songs. I wished this was a hit single, |
Freddie88 12.11.2019 06:16 |
@PrimeJiveUSA Yes maybe you're right... Unfortunately there are a couple of songs which lower album's rating but other than that there are some truly impressive and outstanding tracks which only by themselves make me consider this album like a masterpiece ;) |

Speaking only about song quality I could give Innuendo a really honest 7/10 rating but if I have to consider all the circumstances, production and band studio performance that album is an easy 9/10. The Miracle is a 7/10 so only a +0.5 bonus. |

pittrek No wonder the result is surprising to yourself, because some of your ratings are bizzare. Slightly Mad 1 ?? The pish poor Headlong 8 ?? The great, atmospheric Ride the Wild Wind 2, All God's People 0 ?? And most shockingly, the gorgeous, restrained Days of Our Lives - 1. You also put WIAWI on par with TSMGO, while the first one is just a very good deep cut, though not everyone may be convinced by the slightly overblown instrumental part, while the latter was an instant classic with some of the best music, vocals and lyrics they ever committed to tape. |

Music and the way it makes us feel is very subjective, but there is room for some objectivity too. You just cannot objectively say that Days of Our Lives is a ghastly song which deserves a 1-star rating. |

Yeah agreed. But this is our opinions right? For me, I never listen to that song primarily because I find it too bland and syrupy as a song. But also because when I do, I usually cry uncontrollably because of the huge emotional weight attached to it. |

So I guess as a song 3/10, it's place in the Queen cannon 9/10 |

These are our opinions, but pittrek should definitely reconsider :-)) |

The great, atmospheric Ride the Wild Wind 2, All God's People 0 ?? And most shockingly, the gorgeous, restrained Days of Our Lives - 1. You also put WIAWI on par with TSMGO, while the first one is just a very good deep cut, though not everyone may be convinced by the slightly overblown instrumental part, while the latter was an instant classic with some of the best music, vocals and lyrics they ever committed to tape.Yep, Slightly Mad is incredibbly boring. Headlong a great rocker, one of the best songs on the album. Ride the Wild Wind - nope, nothing for me. All Gods's People - I skip it 99% of the time. Days of our Lives - an interesting thing with this song - I always hated the album version (and I still do), but I learned to love the LIVE versions sung by Roger and usually with a great emotional guitar work from Brian. Was it Al Worth It - love everything about the song, just like The Show Must Go On. |

Ride the Wild Wind with Roger on lead works better |

Different people have different tastes |

Yes, I know, but there is a big but. These songs do not warrant such harsh ratings, it's like giving 1 star to Paul Simon's "Graceland". You may not like it, all these African rhythms and shite, maybe not your cup of tea, but you can't deny it's still good music. Otherwise, you just come across as capricious, that's all. |
