The Daily Express has reported that Freddie loved nothing more than watching an episode of the UK gameshow Countdown, according to Peter Freestone. link
If you've never heard about the show, the basis of it is letters and numbers rounds. Two contestants compete against each other by scoring higher. In letters rounds, one contestant has to pick vowels and consonants to make up nine letters. And, with those you have to come up with words which contain as many letters as possible which are in a dictionary. In numbers rounds, you simply have six numbers ranging from 1 to 10 and possibly bigger numbers 25, 50, 75 and 100 depending on what the contestant picks. Then you have to make a random three digit number automatically generated by a machine by just using those six numbers once.
I've always enjoyed the show. I used watch the show when I was a baby appeantly (according to my family)! Which may have been the inspiration to why I could I tell the time not long after I turned three.
In a few days after this news was leaked Carol Vorderman tweeted...
In today's papers, a story about how the amazing Freddie Mercury loved to watch Richard [Whiteley] and I on Countdown. I know he did. He used to write occasionally which we loved. I'm so touched to be reminded of those days ??Thank you @dailymirror@dailyexpressukhttps://t.co/ikD2Q6GBuM
