We all know black people discovered Queen on YouTube last year...
While it seemed like most of them seemed genuine in their search and overall enthusiasm and curiosity, i must say that i also have noticed they attract a lot of attention. So i'm sceptical of the motives to react to these songs and some of them claim they never heard Bo Rhap in 2018...i know...WHAT? YOU FOR REAL?
Well maybe they just live in some other cultural bubble, who knows.
Am i the only one that finds most of these channels that react to certain Queen songs (usually deep cuts and live performances) highly entertaining? And not necessarily black people reacting to Queen, but everybody of all age groups.
But most of all; i noticed that i listen to these songs in a very different way while i am watching these people comment, like almost for the first time and some of em make song very interesting points too. The ones that have some level of musical background are of course the best way to gain a new perspective on these songs.
Have you guys and gals discovered people discovering Queen? xD
This one is typical and hamming it up:
You might be on to something, but my 'entertainer' to 'self-conscious nihilistic fuckbag' ratio is messed up so probably won't work.
I really think you have to be a little bit of an attention whore and have a certain level of self importance to be able to this kind of thing. Plus a lack of self-conscience and voila: you have the ingredients of a YouTuber. :D
I really am amazed what some people put out there, but i digress.

Wow, so many things wrong in the first sentence already :-)

It's easy money. Reacting to something popular = more views, more views = more money + higher rankings, higher rankings = more views etc.
And yes, it's absolutely possible to be an adult and listen to Bohemian Rhapsody for the firs ttime in 2019.

There are many great bands from the 70's which I have discovered only in the last decade or so,

That's why the videos exist. Because there are people who love watching them. In other words - you are a part of the problem you complain about :-)

Any examples?

Yep, youtube has been bombarding me with videos of a father showing Queen videos to his son and daughter (pun partially intended). It's interesting to see their reactions, they usually start with a "dad, stop lecturing me with your old fashioned crap" look, but they usually end up interested in the music.

I'm not complaining, it's just an observation.
And the stuff you are supposedly lecturing me about, we already know.
