The day after opening of the Another World tour (at Rockstock near Chicago), I got an autograph from Brian at a guitar shop after standing in line for an hour or so in blazing heat. He commented that he liked my A Kind of Magic t-shirt. I commented awkwardly without explanation that I didn't think that the band could play China Belle live, and he said he didn't think they could either. Jamie and Brian were quite the team playing China Belle. It was like two Red Specials creating a feeding frenzy. |

Met Brian twice, first time outside Wembley 1980. All band members left in their own limo's but Brian was the only one to stop the car, get out and spend a long time signing autographs. All credit to him. The second time was after a Black Sabbath show at Hammersmith in 81 ish. Went round backstage door where everyone was waiting for Sabbath to come out. Brian came out with Chrissie and everybody else just moved out of the way and let him go. We got to talk to him for several minutes where he was trying to tell us how good the Flash Gordon film was!! Very pleasant guy both times. |

We waited for Brian & Roger outside after their gig in Perth in 2014, the night he did the ice bucket challenge, hoping to grab a signature and a quick photo. Fuckers drove straight passed us and waved! :( |

I won a meet-and-greet (and lunch) with Brian in a contest around the release of the Another World album. Flew with a friend and an EMI-rep to the Hard Rock Café in London where I met Brian. There were I think about 15 winners, from multiple countries. He signed my Starfleet-album, commenting he "hadn't seen one of them in a long time". A few months later the friend I took won a soundcheck-meet-and-greet before his concert in the Netherlands (Groningen or Utrecht) and he signed one of the photos taken at the Hard Rock Café. That was pretty cool, having him sign a photo of the two of us :) |

Met Brian in 1988 when he and John played with The Cross. A couple friends And I spoke with him as he was taking his son Jimmy(?) home. He said hi and said he would talk to us when he came back. Sure enough, 15 or 20 minutes later he came and spoke with us and took some pictures. He was very kind. |

Never "MET" met anybody, But I've been to two signings and the Walk of Fame ceremony (*where i first met Nuno - got his signature on a dollar - it was all i had on me that wasn't Queen related, i later accidentally spent that dollar) First signing, i gave him a drawing a did of him that I'd finished in the car en route. Quipped "here's a little doodle etc. .thanks for the music" his assistant complemented the drawing "wow that's much more than a doodle etc" and although I'd slipped a FURIA sleeve into the book (signing for BANG! ) he did not sign it. Second time for the QUEEN IN 3-D book. I simply asked him about MACBETH: will he ever release it? He simply looked pensively upward and said "Well, I still HAVE it." And a shrug sort of head nod. (*it'll never be released haha) That's about it. 2014 had tix near the cat walk. Lots of cheering n all but no six pence. Would be nice to talk with one of em in a general environment that was not performance/signing but eh.... i wasn't that high in the music industry when i was doing my thing. Even so. ...It's ironically frowned upon to banter with the artists when you ARE in the realm. Go figure |

I was at that same Guitar Center in store Brian did around the time of RockStock, which was his only U.S. appearance. People were getting lots of stuff signed and taking pictures and his handler got mad and limited people before I got up to him, but I still got him to look up for a great photo ;) |

At least then reading your drivel will be over quicker. I'm ashamed to share a country with you. You even make the same mistake as foreigners referring to The Netherlands as Holland. You do know Holland is only two provinces? Dude you live in one of them. Almost every comment you make on here makes you sound more stupid than before. Be it in the Announce section or in a discussion thread like this. Only spouting bile or some other dumb shit.Go shout at your tv while your team fucks up another season.and some more of their typical "fans" like you get banned from attending. You seem to be nothing more than another asshole who is allergic to normal comments and intelligence as you have proven for a long time now. Met Brian, Roger and Rufus in Glasgow circa 2010/11 when WWRY was on at The Kings: Brian was nice, took time to talk with us, pose for pics and sign autographs. Roger, for some reason, was in a cunt of a mood and went straight to his car. I was the only one he said hello to on the way, I think simply because I wasn't pushing a CD or pen in his face for a signature like everyone else was. Rufus spent ages talking with me about Queen, other music, his dad and future plans. If memory serves me right, it was Rufus who told me to stay put at the theatre because Brian was still inside (the staff had told us to beat it and that Brian had already left). Rufus seems a pretty cool guy. |

I'm kind of glad I'll never meet them, Brian in particular - I love the guy and most of the music he's done, but you can just tell when someone wouldn't have time for your bullshit, and I think this is one of those occasions. Which is fine - I'm grateful for the tunes. |

Fortunate to have met Brian four times and each time gave me goosebumps. He was so kind. Once commenting that he liked my Freddie shirt. Another time when I told him I was getting married and he could come to the wedding, he asked "When is it?" I knew he wouldn't come but the fact that he asked that rather than saying no or brushing it aside says a lot about him. One other time I interviewed him for a story and he was incredibly open, sweet and kind. Highlights of my life. ... still waiting on Roger. |

They say you should never meet your heroes, and I haven't. Always felt that I'd rather go for a drink with Roger than Brian, but on the other hand when it comes down to having a real conversation, Brian would be far less likely to tell me to go fuck myself. I (Or rather my Auntie Jean, cause she was driving) did tail John once after one of the Liverpool Empire shows on the Crazy Tour but his driver went through a red light and lost us. (We were trying to see where they were staying). Later found that the band went to a club after the first show that a friend of the family owned. They got a menu signed but it got lost before reaching me. They (The club owners) had no clue who they were but when told they comped the meal. Rich Famous people get a lot of free shit. |

At the time I was an autograph hungry fan, Roger was friendly asked my name and signed the autograph to me. . John was shy and said very little apart from mmm! A couple of times but did sign JR Deacon Queen Dec 79! Freddie was the one I felt was pulling away, he signed my program while telling me he was in a rush! Brian chatted to me about his guitar, photography and music. He only stopped talking when someone ( could have been Prenter) said Brian and flashed his watch. Brian made his apologies and said he was running late and left. I met them again individually over the next few years, not always as a fan and I've met Brian and Roger a few times in the last few years. Brian is indeed the most approachable but Roger can be quite chatty if he is in the mood or isn't busy. |

I bumped into John Deacon in 1976 in Hamleys Toy Shop in Regent St. London just before Christmas when I was 15. This wasn't long after I saw Queen Live for the first time at Hyde Park. By a sheer coincidence I had purchased a Queen poster earlier in the day and asked him if he would sign it. Poor chap must have wondered how I already had a Queen poster under my arm as I proceeded to unravel it, but he duly signed it with a smile. Next thing he was inundated with autograph requests (sorry John!) I hung on to that poster on the way home like it was the most precious item in the world! Nearly eight years later I bumped in to him again outside the venue of the ''Break Free'' video shoot when he opened a door and asked me if I had a cigarette! I explained that my girlfriend (now my wife) and I had got there late for the filming and the doors were locked and we couldn't get in. During our chat I reminded him about that Hamleys incident eight years earlier and apologised, but he had no memory of it LOL! Being the nice chap he is he escorted us inside so we could watch the filming. I even got to stand next to Freddie when he had a break, and got autographs from all of the band. |

Met Roger on his Electric Fire tour in 1999 in Nottingham. I had been waiting in line all morning with a friend and we nipped off for a toilet break and when we got back there he was. I ran up to him and got him to sign my Surrender 7" single but never got a picture. I said I had been waiting all day to meet him and his rather silly response was "Have you?". I gave that Surrender single to a girl I used to fancy back in the day and haven't seen it since. Absolutely gutted. I've technically met Brian but haven't spoken to him, which was on the same tour as I met Roger but this time in Wolverhampton where Brian guested. After the gig everyone was waiting for Rog and Brian burst out of one of the side exits and everyone flocked to him, and he legged it. I managed to keep pace with him (I was still young, you know!) and all I remember him saying was "Mustn't keep the lady waiting" - everyone speculated that he had a mistress waiting for him! |
PrimeJiveUSA 24.10.2019 01:55 |
@Khizzy When you described Roger's response as "rather silly" what do you mean? Was he trying to be funny or was he just socially awkward and didn't know what to say? |

I've met BM a couple times and RT once, late 90's early 2000's. Chatted with both, signed a couple things and took pictures. These days I would just chat, don't care about autographs/pictures anymore. I don't like to bother people with things like that anymore, getting old.... They were both very friendly, also remember my wife had a long conversation with RT's wife?/girlfriend? back then, she was very friendly also. Overall great experience and great memories. |

When I met them subsequently I never went down the autograph route again, always thought it much nicer just to say hello. |

My only conversation with Brian May was I think in 1999 at the Party In The Park event in Hyde Park. He happened to be there and was walking towards me when I asked if I could take a photo. He refused, for some reason he thought I was the Paparazzi as my camera was on the rather large size. I couldn't convince him otherwise, and he trotted off! |

I met Brian at a book signing he did in NYC for one of his stereoscopy books. I was waiting in line and they mentioned we had to write our name on a piece of paper so Brian would know who to address the autograph to. I had forgotten to do that so the lady had to remind me when i was on deck to get my book signed. I said loudly, "what, just because he's one of the greatest guitarists of all time, i have to write my name down for him"--i was being very obvious that i was not being insulting but joking. Brian laughed and took a picture with me. Also, i had told him i was looking forward to meeting him at the event on his website through the soap box postings or whatever (he wasn't on instragram back then--this was like 2010) and how i played Queen songs on the piano as part of a charity project i do on Monday nights and he (or one of his people) messaged me back saying--"Thats so great! Cheers!" So my interactions with him were both really positive. |

Yeah, Freddie never had a reputation of being "great" with the fans but I think a lot of it was the "role" he thought he had to play to keep in the fans esteem as kind of amn untouchable 'god". @PrimeJiveUSA - Freddie seem to sound OK in the letters that he wrote to the fans in fan club magazine. May be he felt nervous (though he may not have showed it) making 1 on 1 conversations with people he did not know, as numerous people including Brian May have mentioned him to be shy and reserved in private and he could not walk into a room full of strangers on his own. Some people are naturally good public speakers like Brian May. Brian May's calm and measured voice puts everyone at ease. quickly. |

Freddie was shy and socially awkward in one to one interactions with people he didn't know well. But he was by all accounts a nice guy once you got through his protective wall. I would like to meet Roger but I think Brian would be more open to talking |
