Once again another band shows how to release anniversary editions. Abbey Road 50 years later and they still have unreleased demos and tracks. Why can't Queen get their shit together and release stuff like this. Love hearing bands at work in the studio and how songs evolve. link
And as a side note the new mixes sound pretty decent.
They're all at it - The new Bowie one surrounding his 1969 album is cool too. Loads of unreleased demos including totally unheard songs. They've gone down the route of including the actual album plus a new remix which I think is a bit superfluous but the 3 extra discs on top of that look beautiful.
The NOTW box had a similar vibe to these Beatles ones - I guess the difference is that The Beatles appeal more so now to the beard strokers who will spend that money rather than Queen who appeal to the housewives who don't really want to hear anything beyond the hits. Like Abba to Bowie's Bowie.

Dysan, that’s funny. I keep hearing about the housewives or older ladies who love Queen. Why do you think that’s so? Plus all the new teenage fans who saw the movie.
Us Crimson fans also have the mega 50th ITCOTCK box set to come as well. This week saw the release of a 5 disc audio diary set.
I see no reason why Queen can't release box sets along similar lines. They will never have mass appeal but that is missing the point. Longtime, hardcore fans deserve to be treated better.
Unfortunately I think it's Brian being too precious over everything, terrified of their music being heard less than perfect, I still feel it's got something to do with greed i.e just give them crumbs and they'll still buy our box set of balloons. They are so out of touch with their fans they have become a parody of Spinal Tap.
We have Roger who can't be arsed with anything fan related not even a half arsed interview. Why don't they give a free concert in the UK for poverty? Hyde Park? or did they just use the New York show for their own gain? when have you ever heard Brian or Roger go on about poverty in the UK? now how many times have we heard George Michael go on about poverty and homelessness he even anomalously helped out in soup kitchens on a night shift, my point is that is someone who cares about people in poverty, I'm not convinced Brian and Roger did that show for concern for those in poverty. This is why I feel box sets or any release is not for fans in the slightest it's for their bank balance most on here have been saying it for years i.e cash cow, and when we seen how other artists treat their fans etc we stop and compare to what BM and RT release crumbs and fucking balloons, they are taking the piss, what is it with Brian's obsession with America?
Boxsets would never generate the profit a simple Greatest Hits has. And it costs too much to produce. Queen is the band that has the wirst reiussues of all "BIG" bands out there. It is annoying as fuck. Almost anything Maylor did since Freddie died was either questionable embarrassing (QAL) or just an insult (QAL/ The movie). Only exception is the Live Boxes an the Lot by Roger
Abba have only ever released one medley of work in progress stuff (search Abba Undeleted - it's great!) and I think Queen have done better with all the BBC stuff and 2011 bonus cuts / NOTW box.
Bowie's vaults are being raided as we speak which as a long time consumer is amazing.
The Beatles and The Doors have served up a decent amount of out takes, demos and remixed albums (I put them together due to the volume of live tapes the Doors have officially released on top of that)
I think Queen are doing OK - it's a slow process as bands get to grips with the changing climate / fan requirements of a moribund act.
