For anyone that looks at the Ask Phoebe forum on the Freddie Mercury website I'm sure a lot of us would agree with his last paragraph from his latest entry. "I’m just back from Freddie’s birthday celebrations in Montreux. It was glorious, and the costumes and hats on display on Saturday evening were amazing. It therefore makes me sadder after the smiles and laughter there from so many of you, to come back to the internet and watch the bullying that goes on there. Some people have created their own fantasy land and just lash out at anyone who doesn’t live in the same sphere. The Queen and Freddie environment always used to be a fun and happy place to be, it makes me sad if this bickering is going to be Freddie’s legacy." Such poignant words but very true. |

"Some people have created their own fantasy land" -- is he talking about the Bo Rap movie he participated in? |

Or maybe the constant bashing of the Queen + set up? |

They still kept in touch and I have many fond memories of the times they did meet up. On is from when Freddie had torn the ligaments in his knee in Munich and was in a plaster cast. Elton performed in the city and of course Freddie wanted to watch the show. Freddie and I were seated on the side of the stage enjoying ourselves when Elton stood up from the piano seat and said ‘This is for Melina, the poor cow’ and then proceeded to sing ‘I’m still standing’! He also visited Garden Lodge regularly during the last year of Freddie’s life, spending a few hours with him each time.About Freddie and Elton! This anecdote is hilarious! Pure gold! |

Phoebe should ask himself if selling his private knowledge of Freddie's PRIVATE life for 28 years now is a class act. IMHO it is NOT. I do not like the guy at all because he is being indiscrete. Same thing like Hutton's appalling and shameful book. I am sure Freddie would be fuming if he knew that there is someone telling private stuff in public. It's a shame |

I should think he's talking about the arguing since Lambert started singing for Queen+. I doubt he rates Queen+ AL much, but he also strikes me as someone who'd be polite about it, even if he doesn't rate it. Has he ever mentioned Queen+ AL? |

I wonder what he's talking about here... "I must also make another apology: to all those people who were around Freddie during those twelve years, 1979-1991, that I was working for him, and I just didn’t see them. I must have been walking around blindfolded, as there are so many people out there on the internet who know Freddie so much better than myself. Also, I don’t seem to recognise any of their names. I think it is quite sad how people have to hide behind pseudonyms and avatars when they produce their fonts of knowledge, so no one is really able to thank them for all their sound advice. I would ask only one thing, please don’t talk about things that you have no first hand knowledge about. There are things on the internet currently I find quite hurtful, particularly as one of the people involved is no longer alive to defend/explain himself." link |

Day dop wrote: You guessed wrong. I found Peter to be polite / balanced.Yes he is and he's right about social media and Greg is right about on here but I didn't get the impression Peter was just being polite and didn't like Adam's voice but then he's into opera and knows about trained voices so whether Adam's his personal taste or not he clearly knows he can sing and doesn't think he's utter crap which is what some on here say all the time. |

I think he sounds like shit singing Queen songs (or any other songs), and I think he looks as tacky as hell. So for me, he's crap. |

@Day dop regarding the latest Ask Phoebe—there is someone with the user name FreddieDearie who has a great many posts on QZ essentially saying that Jim and Freddie were not lovers. Or they were but . . .Honestly I don’t remember all the details. If you really want to read some garbage posts you can search. Apparently this person posts on Instagram as well. And there is other stuff on IG that I vaguely heard about. There are some people in Thor’s thread who know a lot more about this. |

All sounds a tad childish to me. |

It may be Instagram he cares about. This person has posted there and here. I don’t read Insta very much, so don’t know the details about what’s been said over there. Yes, it is very childish. I made the mistake of writing a three-line post to this person and I got an essay back which I ignored. |

I like Phoebe a lot. He's in a difficult and unique position. He's correct in the first post about the conflicts (taking QZ as an example) because it really does ruin the band. We all like them for different reasons and by the very nature of us loving it enough to post about it surely we all see the vast complex appeal of the band's output and adventures through the years. Commenting on people who claim they knew Freddie - well, I'm sure some of them did, I'm sure there are also people who exaggerate their involvement (be it as a coping mechanism or purely for boasting) and he is right to try to level up the blind faith some people show taking interest and goading these people into tales of 30 years ago. I personally don't engage with that side of things because I don't get anything out of that side of it. I was going to say something along the line of 'yeah but he just wants to make Freddie's legacy about 'amazing hats' FFS' but of course, yes he probably does because that was the Freddie he knew. In the same way Mack would like the legacy to be about the studio work. There are so many almost entirely unconnected branches to this Queen thing and, hey, we can all get on and appreciate why we're here. Long live Phoebe. |
