Hi folks!
I had this idea last year, then I started working on it, abandoned the project out of frustration and today, 8 months later, I went on and finished it so that I could include it in the final "Unusual Collection" update. My very first mix!
Here's a mix of Freddie's standalone vocals from the available stems + the 2003 backing track featured in Annie Crummer's AOBTD version. This one was produced by Josh Macrae and edited by Roger Taylor and him, so there's a Queen-related background to it which makes it pretty much fully official with little external interference. It essentially is a different, modern Queen version!
There's an instrumental version that I used to work on. This is what I did:
- Changed tempo while keeping the pitch of the instrumental track. Trickier than it might seem.
- Did my best to align Freddie's voice to it. Way trickier than it might seem! I'm an amateur anyway.
- Edited out some overly long parts to make the final mix tighter.
- Replaced some parts where Annie's backing vocals are present, so that there aren't any non-Queen elements in it.
- General volume balancing.
It may be flawed and you may dislike the different backing track, but I think it is kind of listenable and a fresh take on the song. Please enjoy! Another One Bites The Dust (2003 backing track mix)
I really enjoyed that! Great job. I like the take on the backing track, I'd never heard that before. The sync was good, the only minor quibble I have is the first line of the last verse seems a bit off. Thanks for that!
