Hey there !
I’ve just received the Studio Collection and noticed something very weird regarding Innuendo tracklisting : why are TATDOOL and ICLWY switched ?? I’m sorry if it’s already been discussed but I haven’t found anywhere so if you could help please.. Maybe I’m the only one bothered but when I’m used listening to a record and I know the exact order, it bothers me not to hear track b after track a.. that’s why I don’t like greatest hits by the way.. anyway ! Does anybody know the real reason ? Is there an artistic purpose or is it simply due to a pressing problem ? That said, I’m quite surprised not finding an « official » explanation in the book or elsewhere..
Thank you,
Lucas
Wikipedia says that the 2015 edition is the first time it's been RELEASED ON VINYL IN ITS COMPLETE FORM. ... owing to prior versions having edits
Although it now spans TWO LPS
Prob just a sequencing change to retain some of the character with a different track listing to spread it apart
I think it's because Side B (I Can't Live With You, Don't Try So Hard and Ride The Wild Wind) would be 12:56 and Side C (All God's People, These Are The Days Of Our Lives and Delilah) would be 12:12. With ICLWY and TATDOOL swapped, Side B is 12:37 and Side C is 12:31. Just six seconds separating the two sides now instead of 44 seconds. But it doesn't make sense that they're on different vinyl records.
My other theory is several releases have TATDOOL opening a vinyl side which suggests that its drum beat is more meaningful then a drum crash with a riff beginning its first few seconds. I can sort of see why they moved ICLWY because after hearing a song fade out then hearing the song begin at full volume produces a bigger effect. But I've never liked a slow song (or one that is slightly melancholic) opening an album or side because that can set a tone for the rest of the album.

I'm not sure about the side length suggestion as both are well within the vinyl limit Probably just to make side 2 less of a stinker and have a hit pushed earlier up the tracklist. Money, you see.
^yeah. Thinking critically (*AFTER WORK) that makes sense that it was to make a stronger side 2/B though it makes side 3/C a bit dull and does ruin the flavor a bit.
ADDED QUESTION:
Wikipedia lists a PETER STRAKER co credit on IGSM,
Curious, is this also noted on the 2015 release?
Just one of those rare old school eccentric and well educated men that we have less and less of these days. He really should be cherished by this community. I go to see him at every opportunity.
***WELL....... the question still stands to the OP.... is Peter Straker's name on the album work? I haven't bought much QUEEN stuff in a while. Just Brian's Books, and 3 tickets to recent shows.
Speaking of Innuendo LP....
I assume there was never a Hollywood Records 1991 vinyl release of this album (Canada/US)? I don't see any reference in Discogs for a N.A. vinyl release. I don't recall ever seeing vinyl in the stores when I went to buy the CD/Cassette - just wondering why it was never released originally.
If anyone recalls - did they just import the UK/Euro release?
(the reason I ask, is I've been collecting/buying all the Canadian original releases on vinyl, but no original Innuendo it seems)
Thanks
