It seems that on 11th of october, they will release 7 different products of Freddie solo material. Starting with a reissue of Mr Bad Guy and Barcelona both on CD and LP, plus a 'compilation' called Never Boring, that it will be on CD and LP too (probably a compilation of singles, like Time, Love Kills, Pretender...) and also a box set of 5 Cds will be release, called Never Boring. Probably the box will be a set with Bad Guy, Barcelona, Never Boring compilation plus two cds of demos and alternative versions... link |

Barcelona and Mr Bad Guy were remastered for Freddie's 70th Birthday, but were dropped in favour of the singles boxset instead, so these two were bound to be released at some point, and when better than the year after the Queen movie with hundreds of thousands of new customers around the world. As for "Never Boring": Dear God. What an awful title, but clearly indicates this will be another batch of dreadful remasters. Wouldn't surprise me if it was a re-issue of the 1992 FM album with one or two additions. As for the demos - again, most likley what came out of the 2000 FM boxset with one or two additions if anything else has been found. What a shame there's no sign of surround mixes of said albums (if, indeed they could do one of Barcelona). Never Boring? I bet most of us will be with it. |

Freddie rey 23.07.2019 12:16 |
Barcelona 2012 was a terrible different version with orchestra instead of the original keyboard played by Mike Moran and Fred. So, this reissue I hope that it will be the original album |

I really liked the Orchestral Version if Barcelona. Whilst I prefer the original, I do like the Orchestral side of it too. |

Great news for new fans. Wonder about the mastering, if shelved or tasteful. MBG should be released with extras since the album is pretty much a dud. I wonder if BARCELONA will have the original artwork portrait or the Hollywood Records version with the promo film shot. I've been hoping for a reissue of the FM SOLO COLLECTION but it looks like i missed my opportunity in this lifetime. Unless i wish to shelve out an obscene amount of money. P.s. I hope there's no foreword by Miley Cyrus, Gaga etc for NEVER BORING. I think it's a funny title and camp, which makes me think it was created for casual fans of "theatrics" and those old ladies we always trash on about that attend the AL shows. Thanks for breaking the news. Looking forward to the full details in the event something new pops up. (*prob won't since it's not being boasted about yet) |
Freddie rey 23.07.2019 14:24 |
Barcelona 2012 fault on the mix, becouse the orchestra did a great job (Excersises In Free Love is amazing) but, a total absent of the Mike Moran piano parts, and some mistakes on the mix of the vocals, makes me feel awful listening to the 2012 version. |

On the subject of new Freddie products. Saw this thing referenced in one of the Thor threads: (i do read em sometimes for the eventual Thor post) Looks better than some previous works but i think this is a bit tasteless and much. Even if it is bronze. I had had my own idea of doing a John Deacon bust someday... but i think despite the central accuracy something about it makes him just look like a withered old man. link |
dysan 24.07.2019 14:46 |
Whoever came up with the idea of packaging together 2 of the most boring albums in the Queen + catalogue certainly has a good sense of humour. It's basically setting up negative reviews because no one will be able to resist observing the outrageously stupid title. Makes me realise I've probably bought my last Queen product. After the film, this is really sad ending to my enjoyment of these guys. |

Plengel 24.07.2019 17:26 |
Let's wait and see. I might pick up the new Mr. Bad Guy and Barcelona issues, since I don't have those albums other than from the Solo Collection. As for the Never Boring CD or the five disc box set: I wonder what that will be. Hopefully it will include some unreleased rarities or demo's that are better than for instance the Horns of Doom or Yellow Breezes. Otherwise an anthology release with every single version would be cool, though I'm not sure how much was exactly missing from the Solo Collection. |
dysan 24.07.2019 18:07 |
Yeah if it was stuff that wasn't included in the previous release - It would be quite easy to use uncompiled mixes / edits which would serve the completist well but that floating fans wouldn't notice. Also, you want material better than Yellow Breezes? IMPOSSIBLE I TELL YOU! |

Seriously, what the hell is going on.It started all so well with the Rainbow release,Hammersmith was ok,News Of The World OK ,but several chances have been there to release what the real Queen fans want. These are the fans, who have been there from day one, spending their hard earned cash in purchasing every release from their heroes.Since Freddie died, the output from Queen productions, has almost been the square root of zero.Who sanctions,or more importantly vetos the ideas that are put forward for the years release.OK I can sort of see the point of why Hyde Park and Earls court have not been released in full,But this year, the 40th anniversary of Live killers, was a perfect chance to put this right. It has been stated previously, that the band hated Live Killers when it was released, but now has been the perfect opportunity to re mix it and put it right. Now,as a Queen fan of many years,I am almost giving up the hope of a career anthology.Brian and Roger just want to spend time out on the road, instead of listening of what fans want. |
Toozeup 25.07.2019 07:29 |
The live Killers replacement will almost cetainly be at least a full show from the tour. Probably Paris 79. The original album is far too much of a hodge-podge of multiple shows and overdubs to attempt to re-create a better mix. I think the band and fans would much prefer a full show released! |

(Long) Time ago i bought my last Queen item and i decided no to buy anything else, it was Queen On Fire DVD. I just though, OK this is the very first release in long time that is not trying to rip us off. Those days a lot of crap was released...Queen Rock, GH3, dissapointings GVH1&2, Queen + Five, etc etc Having tons of stuff in the vaults they prefer to release the same things again and again. (yes, after Queen on Fire some interesting things were released too but not enough for me to continue buying things). These days i have to say that i'm very happy that time ago i sold all my Queen and solo collection. I listen to a lot Queen and solo stuff but about collecting...Not for me anymore... |

I think that I will not say anything new, and many would agree with me that this year it would be more appropriate to release the Live Killers than a reworked solo collection. I have nothing against Mr. Mercury's solo works, but let's be honest. It is very unlikely that they, after 19 years since release of the original solo collection, found something truly unheard of by us. "Mr. Mercury" would be much clearer than "Never Boring".
