Hi guys, I just get the latest release from Wardour, a 30th anniversary edition of the miracle, that includes the full tapes of teaser material of the album, with some differences on the tracks. One of them is the Capitol one, and the other is the one with All God's People demo on it. I don't know if I could upload that becouse is official material, or if somebody could be interested on that. What do you think? I preefer to ask before I upload. |

Coincidentally, the CD contains does contain some tracks that compare with other MiniDisc transfers in circulation. |

I guess it's the combination of NR and lossy encoding plus Wardour's Eq that makes them appear this way. I've known the whole story as it unfolded. These are NOT from the MiniDisc transfers made by certain collector. |

Rough mix is a work-in-progress mix which could feature alternate takes of vocals/instruments on the final basic track. And it also could be literally 'rough' mix of all final takes of intruments/vocals before proper mixing. So basically you're right with your asumptions. |

A rough mix is basically what the name implies: a preliminary and unpolished version of the mix. They usually differ from the definitive versions in the level, pan and effects applied for the different tracks on the multitrack. Besides, they lack all of the embelishments that are part of the mastering process such as Eq, compression/limiting, and editing (cuts, fades, etc.). In this particular case, Rough Mixes was the title of a promo cassette copied by Capitol Records to the main executives of the label in December 1988, to maintain them updated regarding the new Queen album (at the time, Queen had just abandoned the "The Invisible Men" concept, but had still to decide on its final title). |

So just to clarify a bit more Wilki, the 13 track preview tape is a degraded transfer of the MiniDisc transfer, or is it a completely different transfer? I compared with the MiniDisc transfer and a very slight difference in track length is all I can really determine, not much difference quality wise. |
