I don't know if you follow Greg on facebook... a couple of days ago, he puts an image of Freddie on the cover of Queen I LP, and put this message:
I have been working very hard on a fascinating little project of late, that I'll be able to share with you soon. Hopefully next week. Have a fabulous weekend in the meantime.
maybe a Freddie Mercury solo project?
Dear Queen Fans. Is there anyone out there who is knowledgable in the art of making videos or other kinds of visual presentations? I'm working on a project at the moment which I'd like to present (in promotional terms) in video. It might include extracts of just audio, or audio with accompanying still photos or text, or it might be actual audio/vis footage, or it could be a combination of all. I'll tell you more when I can, but for the moment I'd just like to attempt some test videos. If this is something you feel you have a good grasp of, please let me know. I want to explore something a bit different for the promo of this particular thing. I don't mean dreary monotonous review videos, I mean something dynamic, innovative, original and engaging. Thank you. [adapted bicycle girl illustration by Albert Alforcea, by the way]
generally, queen's budget has probably expanded (due to BR exposure). however, he probably doesn't have a big budget for his project at the moment. and given the approach - it's probably his idea. and if really is his idea... well maybe it's a good thing. he does know what fans want as he himself is a fan.
And to Kurgan - he's an archivist, not a media expert.
i'm cautiously optimistic rather than conservatively pessimistic, which is the usual for an upcoming Queen project. fingers crossed.
I had some choice words about Greg Brooks and his "announcements", but I'm informed that none of them are suitable for publication and some might make longshoremen blush.
So I'll just leave it at this: meh. That whiny egomaniac is always trying to convince the gullible that he's doing something grand.
Greg did say in interviews, prior to the Bohemian Rhapsody movie that there would be a Freddie release this year and also an undisclosed Queen release, which he described as visually stunning.

Visually stunning? I can't expect more than some sort of book or some weird artsy video.
Freddie release... more like a re-release of well known tracks.
So its already 6th June and we have no idea what any of these Freddie/Queen release (s?) are this year?
If it was something ‘super, smashing ,great’ in the words of the great quiz show host Jim Bowen (RIP) then shouldn’t we have heard at least rumours of what it/they would be by now?
You would think that after the success of the film and huge sales that QP might have changed their approach a bit but it appears not to be the case sadly.
What is there left anyway from Freddie’s solo stuff to release after what we got on the 2000 solo collection? Plus surely no more Queen ‘hits’ collections can be released as they’ve exploited that angle multiple times with the OST selling well worldwide and still charting well all over the world?
Well, when Messenger of the Gods was released, the full details came at the end of june, and by that time we only hear rumours about Queen on Air. The full details of that projact came on september...
So we still on time
An alternate take of Time? This is great news!! I'm really looking for to hearing it, this stripped down version.
It's going very slow but the last 10 years have given us some gems.
Let's hope more is released and at a much faster pace the coming 10 years (it ain't looking to good though).
